Pendedahan Seorang Ikon Palsu: RPK Akan Pulang!

Malaysia Chronicle

Amin Iskandar Buat Laporan Polis Dakwa Papagomo Fitnah

The Malaysian Insider

Complaints, Complaints! So, What’s Wrong With The Peaceful Assembly Bill?

Malaysia Chronicle

Whatever are you all complaining about? I mean, there’s no satisfying you lot, is there? You didn’t want the cops approving your permits, and now they don’t. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Supreme Leader Najib Razak, you have been granted this boon. Be happy. Clap your hands. Do little cartwheels, even, if you want.

Clearly, you don’t know anything about Great Helmsman Najib Razak if you insist on looking him in the teeth like he’s a dumb mule you were thinking of purchasing. For your information, on the night he was born, a huge comet flew across the sky. Flowers grew on plastic plants and durians popped up on rambutan trees, as well as other equally remarkable phenomena.

So let’s address your issues one by one:

30 days notice to be given before protest

Well, what’s wrong with that? It’s clearly a thought-out move by the government to teach Malaysians to plan ahead. After all, Malaysians do have a very last minute mentality. As for the point that has been raised about the issue no longer being ‘hot’ after so long, why, heat it up again. I do that all the time with pizza and find it highly effective.

The IGP taking such actions as he deem necessary

Well, honestly, he can hardly take measures that the Prisons chief deems necessary, can he? He’s entitled to his right to do things his way, after all. What do you think he’s going to do?

Use toxic concentrations of tear gas that may cause death?

Shoot tear gas canisters directly at protestors?

Administer brutal beatings on peaceful protestors?

Shut down transportation in an entire city, Kuala Lumpur maybe?

Forbid you from wearing yellow T-Shirts, or pink, or green, according to his fancy?

Come now, you do injustice to the poor fellow. We are not in North Korea, his name is not Kim, and he’s hardly going to do such things. Have faith in the cops, guys! Have they ever given you cause to think that they will behave in such draconian ways, falling over themselves carrying out BN’s instructions?

20,000 ringgit fines Continue reading ‘Complaints, Complaints! So, What’s Wrong With The Peaceful Assembly Bill?’

Fakely Popular Najib Isn’t Man Enough For The PM’s Job

Malaysia Chronicle

Isn’t it odd that survey after survey released in the past week ostensibly indicates that Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak – he with the effeminate pink lips and holding on thanks only to a few hundred semi-literate voters in Pekan – continues to remain popular.

It’s more than a little difficult to swallow the results from such surveys, commissioned as they are by some moneybags, since Najib hesitates to secure his own mandate from the nation. Instead, he piggy-backs on the one obtained by Abdullah Badawi, his predecessor. This is indeed a contradiction in terms.

For another, the surveys – some purportedly from opposition parties and some from the government-controlled universities – seem oblivious to the fact that he has so many skeletons in the cupboard that his conscience must surely be killing him, even if slowly, by now.

To rub it in, his wife Rosmah Mansor is no asset to him in his political career. She has been implicated with him as well in his numerous scandals which have come to public notice.

He seems unable for now to rein her in; much less tell her off for not knowing her place. She comes across to the public as stubborn, bull-headed, and having a fixation with leading a lavish lifestyle at the public expense.

Altantuya will dog him for life

To be fair to the man, he could claim to be as popular as Tunku Abdul Rahman and Badawi in their better moments if not for the fact that the ghost of C4-ed Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu hangs like the proverbial sword of Damocles over his head. He can’t wish it away however much he prayed.

The killing follows him like a bad smell everywhere and that’s suicide in politics. He declined to come clean because there’s no way that he can explain himself. There is also the matter of possible corruption in the related RM7 billion Scorpenes deal.

This is why he has so far trivialized the issue instead. But he’s kidding no one. Perception is all that matters in politics.

An on-going case in a French Court is likely to make things even worse for Najib in the months to come and perhaps just before the forthcoming 13th General Elections (GE 13).

The moment that we see even Najib’s deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin, keeping himself at a good distance in public from his boss, we will know that his (Najib’s) goose is about to be cooked.

Patently, there are still many unanswered questions from the Altantuya killing: her role in the multi-billion ringgit submarine purchase from France and Spain; who erased the records of her entry into the country from the Immigration Department computers; the link between Abdul Razak Baginda, Najib’s aide and reportedly a cousin, and Altantuya; and why the two convicted killers of Altantuya are still behind bars after being sentenced to death. The Judiciary, where heads are long overdue for a rolling, will have much to explain in the wake of GE 13.

These are all questions which will surface once more during GE 13.

Sodomy II

As if the stench from the Altantuya killing isn’t enough, Najib’s reported role in the on-going Sodomy II Trial is the proverbial millstone around his neck.

It has been admitted by the parties concerned that Najib met with Saiful Bukhari, the man who has accused opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising him. The allegation has been pooh-poohed by expert medical witnesses and seems to suggest, as Anwar has claimed, a high-level conspiracy against him along the lines of Sodomy 1.

Sodomy 1, in hindsight, was engineered by former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad who had to pay the ultimate price when he was forced out of office by an Umno revolt in the Federal Cabinet led by present Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein Onn and present Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Ultimately, the Court held upon appeal that Anwar did not sodomise Azizan Abu Bakar, his wife’s driver.

Even those who detest Anwar felt sorry for him and abandoned Umno even if they still declined to vote for him. Sodomy 1 cost Umno deeply at the polls.

Sodomy II, like Sodomy 1 engineered by Mahathir, will cost Umno even more dearly at the polls. Perak, stolen from Pakatan Rakyat by Umno several months after GE 12 in 2008, will return to the opposition alliance.

Terengganu and East Malaysia while Najib frolics

Perak aside, PR is set to re-capture Terengganu, add Negri Sembilan to its electoral haul, and make in-roads in Sabah and Sarawak, Umno’s so-called Fixed Deposit states because of the many illegal immigrants there on the electoral rolls. PR has been stepping up the registration of local voters to neutralise the number of illegal immigrants on the electoral rolls.

Najib has also been unable to escape the public perception that Mahathir is blackmailing him into submission at every twist and turn and corner.

This has not endeared him to the man in the street who has since come to see Mahathir for what he’s really like as a person and politician. This is a side that Mahathir kept hidden from the public for almost 22 years in public office i.e. until Sodomy 1.

History has a nasty habit of catching up

Other scandals dog Najib to complete with the Altantuya killing, Sodomy 1 and Sodomy II. These include Najib’s 11th hour betrayal of Kelantan Umno strongman Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah in the infamous 1987 Battle for the Umno Presidency with Mahathir.

Razaleigh has never forgiven him and continues to withhold his crucial support, preferring not to stand in the way of Pas, a member of the PR coalition.

The stench is equally strong as Altantuya from Abdul Razak, Najib’s father, over his (Razak’s) role in the searing Sino-Malay riots of May 13, 1969 in which Mahathir and former Selangor Menteri Besar Harun Idris were the other masterminds.

All three were also the masterminds in the ousting of Tunku Abdul Rahman as Prime Minister.

No magic can turn Najib from a Frog into a Prince

That Najib is dying a slow but sure death can be fathomed from the hundreds of millions of taxpayers money he is pouring into public relations to air brush his image. Examples are obviously the string of popularity ‘surveys’. This recent spate is with compliments from a duly thankful and grateful media chief, newly appointed and based at NST.

But so pathetic is the effort, it is outright embarrassing. As they say, never flog a dead horse. Even Houdini could not transform Najib from a FROG into a PRINCE!

Whether he admits it or not, Najib’s conscience cries out for punishment, and severe cleansing too, and it’s anybody guess how the timing and manner of his downfall will come about.

Few will shed tears for Najib as Malaysia awaits a Messiah to lead her out from the troubles which have been storing up for more than half a century. The chickens are coming home to roost as the past has caught up with us in the present to haunt the future.

Najib is the wrong man for the job.

Siasatan Video: Satu Lagi Cubaan Mengaibkan

Malaysiakini

Menurut Anwar lagi, beliau dipanggil memberi keterangan mengikut Seksyen 182 Kanun Keseksaan kerana membuat laporan palsu.

BBC ‘Cheap Programming’ Scandal Exposed

Independent.co.uk

The BBC has owned up to a “nominal fee” programming scandal in which viewers of 15 editorial programmes were hoodwinked by “serious” conflicts of interest of programme makers and a failure to declare that documentaries had outside sponsors.

The programmes were made for “low or nominal cost” but many were heavyweight documentaries on controversial environmental issues and the BBC Trust, the corporation’s governing body, said today it was “deeply concerned” by the findings. Mark Thompson, the director general of the BBC, has ordered the organisation to tighten its systems for commissioning current affairs programmes. The broadcasting regulator Ofcom announced today that it was launching an investigation into the affair.

Eight of the breaches relate to FBC Media (UK), a London-based production company whose working practices have been uncovered in a long-running investigation by The Independent. FBC produced programmes for the BBC about Malaysia without declaring that it had been allocated £17m by the Malaysian government to carry out a global strategic communications campaign.

The company produced seven BBC programmes on Malaysia, four of them for the series “Develop or Die”.

The BBC also found that FBC had breached programme guidelines on a programme it made on the subject of Egypt this March during the Arab Spring uprisings. The Independent has established that FBC has worked for the regime of the former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.

The findings uncover a disturbing culture of broadcasting documentaries – for which the BBC had paid next to nothing – on the corporation’s international channel BBC World. The BBC was also found to have made programmes with “inappropriate” sponsorship funding from international organisations including UNESCO, UNEP, UNDP and UNFAO, in breach of the corporation’s guidelines.

The Trust’s Editorial Standards Committee warned that documentary makers may have been unduly influenced by their financial backers. “There was a suggestion that commercial, financial or other interests may have influenced the editorial judgments in these programmes,” it concluded.

Richard Ayre, who chaired the meeting of the Trust’s Editorial Standards Committee said: “International audiences must be able to rely on the same integrity and independence in the BBC’s editorial decisions as audiences in the UK.

“We have found that several programmes shown on the BBC’s World News channel had been inappropriately sponsored, and in the case of one of the independent producers, FBC Media (UK) Ltd, there was at least a suggestion that the company had a conflict of interest of which the BBC had been unaware.

“The Trust is deeply concerned at this and we very much regret that these programmes failed to live up to the editorial standards we set for the BBC.”

An audit of BBC World programmes uncovered a series of current affairs programmes that – in breach of guidelines – had been funded by corporate sponsorship, which was often not declared.

One of the programmes in breach of guidelines was “Taking the Credit” made by for BBC World on the subject of Africa and climate change by the award-winning British production company Rockhopper television. The Trust found that the programme had effectively been sponsored by the Envirotrade organisation, despite the fact that current affairs programmes are prohibited from using sponsorship. Envirotrade was featured in a positive light in the programme but “viewers were unaware that there was a funding arrangement in place,” said the Trust report.

A BBC World News spokesperson said: “We accept the BBC Trust’s findings. We are committed to the highest standards of broadcasting and our editorial independence must always remain protected. There were breaches of BBC guidelines though we note that the Trust report found no breaches of impartiality in any of the programmes. We are determined to learn any lessons from this process .That is why we have set out a robust action plan which has been endorsed by the Trust’s Editorial Standards Committee (ESC). We are now committed to bringing in a series of changes to tighten our systems and strengthen the protection of our editorial independence.”

A BBC World News spokesperson said that the BBC had “terminated” its dealings with FBC, which continues to operate internationally but has gone into administration in the UK. “With regards to FBC, we immediately suspended the broadcast of programming from FBC when we became aware of these issues and FBC has subsequently admitted to the BBC that it has worked for the Malaysian government,” said the spokesperson. “That information was not disclosed to the BBC as it should have been when the BBC contracted programming from FBC, and we have now terminated our relationship with the company.”

Gani Patail’s Deep Involvement In Latest Anwar Ibrahim Police Probe Is Confirmed

Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussein Onn announced today that the investigation papers in the latest police probe against Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been submitted to the Atttorney General. The probe is the newest in a series of politically motivated police and prosecutorial actions launched against Anwar Ibrahim since 1998, with the complicity of UMNO, A-G Gani Patail and the top police leadership. This time Anwar is being investigated for supposedly giving false information to the police. Hishamuddin’s statement is surprising, disturbing and suspicious. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is only scheduled to give a statement to the police on this matter on Wednesday 16th November 2011; yet it seems the papers had already been submitted to the Attorney General. This development confirms the deep involvement of the A-G Tan Sri Gani Patail in this latest police investigation against the Federal opposition leader.

Serious allegations of Gani Patail’s involvement in fabricating evidence in the first sodomy trial and the ‘black-eye’ investigation have yet to be resolved or answered. Further, Gani Patail’s animosity towards the political opposition in general and biasness in favour of the BN government is a matter of public knowledge. It should be noted that widespread public concern on this matter had forced former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in July 2008 to order that A-G Gani Patail have no direct involvement in the second sodomy trial. What is clear is that Anwar can have no hope of fairness or justice in this latest police action against him. This relentless and disgraceful hounding, harassment and intimidation of Anwar Ibrahim must stop; the BN government must realise that the people of this country and the global community are watching and judging their actions.

N SURENDRAN

Fitnah II : Laporan Perubatan Tiada Tandatangan

Malaysiakini

Putrajaya Paid RM94m To FBC Media For Global Airtime

The Malaysian Insider

The Barisan Nasional (BN) government paid RM94 million to raise its international profile over three years to FBC Media, which is under probe by British regulators for producing content on Malaysia without revealing that Putrajaya was its client.

But the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) denied any involvement in how FBC Media secured coverage in the international press.

In a written reply to a question in Parliament, Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s office said that the 12-month contract that was signed in 2007 was renewed twice for a total cost of €19.6 million.

“It is the responsibility of FBC Media to obtain airtime in international media and the government has no control over this matter.

“This is a matter of discussions between FBC Media and the BBC,” the PMO replied to Batu MP Chua Tian Chang’s question posed last Thursday.

Malaysia ended its contract with the public relations firm last month after it was revealed that government leaders routinely appeared in paid-for interviews on global television programmes on CNBC.

FBC is now being investigated by British media regulator Office of Communications (Ofcom) as well as the BBC and CNBC for producing content on Malaysia without revealing it received money from Putrajaya.

Both broadcasters have dropped FBC programmes from their lineup. Continue reading ‘Putrajaya Paid RM94m To FBC Media For Global Airtime’

Najib Goes After Voters With Fistfuls of Cash in Populist Elections Budget

Malaysia Chronicle

As expected, Prime Minister Najib Razak unveiled a Budget 2012 stashed with cash goodies aimed to lure voters back to the BN fold, but it was immediately shot down not just by opposition but also by financial experts who gawked at his overly rosy economic projections.

In Budget 2012, Najib forecast GDP growth of 5 to 6% while the deficit was to drop to 4.7% from a projected 5.4% in 2011.

“That’s a pretty bullish outlook relative to the street and relative to ourselves as well. We’re looking at 4 per cent this year and 4.2 per cent next year. Second-half growth has to turn up to 5.5 per cent to average even 5 per cent. So that looks a bit optimistic from my view,” Hak Bin Chua from Merrill Lynch Bank of America told Reuters.

Faking it with overblown growth projections, no details on where money to come from

But Najib, who is also Finance minister, may have no choice. If he did not ‘fake’ his projections, there may not be enough to finance the plans he unveiled. Continue reading ‘Najib Goes After Voters With Fistfuls of Cash in Populist Elections Budget’

Mansuh ISA: Najib Gagal Umum Tarikh

Keadilan Daily

Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak masih gagal mengumumkan tarikh sebenar untuk memansuhkan Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA), tegas Ketua Pembangkang, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Zalim Pada Saya, Saya Maafkan Tetapi Jangan Rampas Hak Rakyat

Keadilan Daily

“Saya tak susah hati, saya lawan orang jahat.

“Kata media bebas tetapi Suara Keadilan tak diberi lesen penerbitan.
