KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim is seeking a meeting with Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Tuesday to discuss a handover of power after declaring that he had won over enough government MPs to form the next government.
Anwar needs to convince 30 legislators from the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition to join his three-party opposition alliance in order to get a parliamentary majority.
At a rally on Monday night, he said he had done so, although none of the government’s 140 MPs have publicly declared for Anwar.
“He wanted to meet with the prime minister,” a spokesman for Anmwar’s Keadilan party said on Tuesday.
No one from the government was immediately available for comment and Abdullah insisted on Monday that he would remain prime minister and that a change of government would not happen.
Anwar’s opposition alliance has 82 MPs in the 222-strong Malaysian parliament and he has been trying to convince 30 government MPs to change sides so as to oust the coalition that has run Malaysia for 51 years since independence from Britain.
He says that if he wins power he will root out corruption and end a system of affirmative action for ethnic Malays, over half of the population in this nation of 27 million people.
Anwar says that the system has not only failed the people it was aimed at helping, but has also created a class of crony businessmen entirely dependent on government contracts, which has hurt the country’s economic prospects.
Malaysian newspapers treated Anwar’s announcement with scepticism on Tuesday, saying that he had not yet shown that he could form a new government.
“It is the 16th of September, 2008. And we do not know what if anything will happen. We do not know what, if anything is going on,” the pro-government New Straits Times wrote in an editorial.
Malaysia’s stock market sold off early on Tuesday losing 2.26 percent.
Dealers said this was partly due to concerns over Malaysian politics and partly due to global financial market uncertainty caused by the U.S. banking crisis.

DSAI, Brother…if you can do it,we can rid off people like toyo and those causing racial disharmony ,so that the people of malaysia can enjoy life, and live side by side among all races as a responsible citizen.
It will happen. Trust them. Better Late Than Never

- Its okay , its the same rhetoric when you said you cant see if the opposition will be able to captured 5 states from BN. Again, you have the right to remain silent.
YB DSAI, below, please find my comment posted on mt.m2day.org for your kind perusal, if you have the time.

YB DSAI,
On the 26th September 2007, during the Seminar on the Judiciary (Correct, Correct, Correct) at the Corus Hotel, as the second floor speaker before YB Wee , I ended my comments saying that I will see you in Putrajaya before I die.
Little did I know then that that day will come this soon. Since your efforts are genuinely for the sake of our beloved Nation and Our People(read Anak Anak Bangsa Malaysia here) after suffering Real Hell on Earth,(no thank to TDM) I suppose, THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH has put You and Your PR Team on a Fast Track to Putrajaya.
However, you have to be shrewd and aloof to ensure that you separate the proverbial wheat from the chaff. Apologies for this unsolicited advice. Many who till today lambasted you all these years would become turncoats overnight and start courting you incessantly. Those are the worst kind of opportunists who would not hesitate selling their mother. And there definitely are many out there.
If ALLAH decides, nobody, I repeat, NOBODY can take away anything that is rightfully and legitimately yours.
Look around you, and you would see many hard at work silently without an iota of thought of seeking anything from you in return. Some even refuse to aim for any positions within the party or even the government though they are very highly qualified and experienced.
I can name a few genuine ones. One in particular was very hard at work at 3.30 am at the Yayasan Aman, Penanti when I went there to meet the BR Bloggers but this information is privy only to you.
Now, compare that to that Zahid fool who posed a loud quesion in the Public Domain as to whether you would make him a DPM. Such gall, audacity and temerity of the worst kind.
You and Your Team will reach Putrajaya even if AAB foolishly refuse to meet you guys for a table talk to discuss a smooth transition, God willing.
SALAM DSAI!

it’s the final jump…..keep it fast and smooth.
24 million Rakyat is with you…3 million UMNO.

p/s By the way..Is Pakatan Rakyat’s new Flag ready?
we are eager to fly this NEW FLAG>
Some asking why govern has not changed ! today is 916, Please understand BN is already long overdue on life support machine. So either 916 opr later doesn’t going to change the scenario. It’s inevitable DSAI and Rakyat who has faith on PKR will have the last laugh, period !
DSAI The ‘Boss’, Congrats to PKR and Condolence to the demise of BN.
JOY TO MALAYSIA !!!!!
Not so much to worry on the no.1 but watch out the no 2 man. Yes, we can negotiate but no compromise on people power. We can forgive but not forget. National interest is paramount, nobody should try to create uncertainty and be mischievous unless he or she is willing to face the rakyat. The people will wait for CHANGE is inevitable. Pak Lah do you hear the voice of rakyat. It is getting louder and it will not stop until you have handed over. SELAMAT HARI MALAYSIA and WE LOVE MALAYSIA. Leaders come and go but the nation must remain intact. OVER TO YOU PAKATAN RAKYAT.
DSAI and PKR have done the right thing by not disclosing beforehand the names of BN MPs who will defect as Badawi & his cronies will just impose the ISA on all of them. The threat of Badawi & Najib imposing a state of emergency in Malaysia to prevent losing power is real (remember the blockade of Parliment) and DSAI & PKR have done the sensible thing by demanding a meeting with Badawi prior to any annoucements and seek a guarantee for the safety and freedom of any defecting BN MPs. DSAI & PKR have the means and momentum to mount a peaceful takeover of power and is sensible enough not to force their way in instead. Malaysians do not want blood on the streets and after than 50 years of BN & UMNO, what’s another few days or weeks even.
Doa Usaha Ikhtiar Tawakkal = DUIT! Do It! hehehehe
Jom kita berdoa agar peralihan kuasa ini berjalan dengan lancar and selamat…
:)
Please don’t waste time, take the matter to the attention of Agong.
Dear DSAI,
I am thrilled with the recent public show of support for you, the opposition coalition and most importantly the hope of a better Malaysia.
I truly belive that the country is in need of a new, decisive and inspiring leader.
Today as I read your public statement, there seems to be fear of the powers`behind the Government. Do you seriously think the powers that are will just step one side for you to take over? This is a revolution. I hope you will stop pussyfooting, be courageous and move decisively like a true leader of this new hope of the country.
Merdeka !

IF U WANT DSAI 2 BE COURAGEOUS,THEN BE LIKE INDONESIA.
Apa pun jua pastinya rakyat mengharapkan sesuatu yang baik dan tersusun. Regardless of the political differences that politicians may have, pastinya titik kenal dan akur akan apa yang benar dan wajar untuk rakyat dan negara tetap ade di benak hati mereka(surely deep in their heart there is an acknowledgement and sensitivity to what is good and wise to the people and the country).
As Muslims who lead both packs ie. the opposition and the ruling, it is surely absolutely important to acknowledge that this is perhaps a testimony not only to the Malaysian but the wold at large that Muslim are not what they have been wrongly painted and perceived as being unruly, harsh, terrorist like, undiplomatic, unilateral in thinking and acts, selfish, inconsiderate etc but they are as good as any good being if not better when we talk and pursue progress, peace and justice. We must remember the ‘Fathu Makkah’ which I should think more akin to be called as the Liberation Of Mecca by the prophet after migrating to Madina. All done at the highest wisdom not none could dispute the manly manners in all aspects during the liberation day.
The reconciliatory mode and approach is higly applauded should be received well by all parties. We pray that ‘there wont be any loose cannon’ either deliberately or inadvertently or ignorantly that may be capable of tainting a historic noble even that may take place. All must work for the people to be the eventual winners. Till then we as rakyat can only pray that those who matters be and remain sane and guided. May God Bless Us and The Nation
my earlier comment accidently sent out prior to re-reading, but I hope the massage of hope is still clear. My appology on unedited linggo etc
I Pray to ALlah that the transition will actually happen even I have doubts that these 31MPs are sticking to their promises. However, DSAI, hope and trust are all on you to bring change to malaysia government. I Pray that the rakyat will win
InsyaALlah
This is What Malaysian need.
