Newly sworn-in Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim wasted no time getting down to business in parliament today.
No mushy hellos to former Barisan Nasional colleagues or sentimental thank-yous in his first speech after a 10-year absence, but instead, the 61-year straightaway hit the attack button, firing the first shot for his Pakatan Rakayat alliance against the ruling coalition.
“What is in question right now is the credibility of the BN-led government for tabling the DNA Identification bill for second reading without any proper consultation with experts of the subject,” he asked.
“Everyone except the BN members is questioning the bill. The bill can only be agreed upon in the context of malevolent politics and differed by all the experts out there,” Anwar said.
The former deputy prime minister was reponding to questions raised by Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak).
The Barisan MP had questioned the Bar Council’s recently issued and strongly-worded statement against the tabling of the controversial bill.
The DNA bill was rushed through for second reading on Tuesday at the expense of another controversial bill, the University and University Colleges Act amendment bill, which had to be postponed.
The Barisan’s urgency to push the DNA bill for debate sparked criticisms from opposition MPs and the Bar Council that it was politically motivated and targeted against Anwar. Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar has denied their allegations.
The DNA bill was introduced just a few weeks after Anwar, charged with sodomising an ex-aide, refused to provide doctors with his DNA sample. Anwar, who won the Permatang Pauh by-election on Tuesday despite intense mudslinging, has pleaded not guilty to the allegations he says were framed by his political enemies.
House goes berserk
Dr Hatta Ramli (PAS-Kuala Krai) also chipped in, attacking the government for not addressing the loopholes in the bill without consultation with independent experts on the subject.
“This malicious bill is apparently targeted towards a certain person and that targeted person is now in the House with us today,” he said.
Hatta’s words roused Pakatan colleague and DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang to jump up and join in the attack against the Barisan-led government.
“There is an apparent sign of lack of confidence in government institutions which have failed to lead by example and when this happens, will events like the blockade of the website Malaysia Today occur or will we see a major crackdown on other internet news portal as well?” Lim asked.
Lim’s comments sparked a verbal scuffle among the MPs, turning the usually sedate hall into a mini-war zone as legislators from both camps vied to speak.
Calm returned after a while, following advice from deputy speaker Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar to MPs to settle down and focus on the debate rather than fighting with each other.
Yesterday Malaysiakini reported that the popular and influential news portal, Malaysia Today, had been blocked by regulator Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
MCMC chief operating officer Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi said the website was blocked “because we found that some of the comments on the website were insensitive bordering on incitement.”

Salam.
Menyakitkan hati sajaa.

At the moment, the Bee-ant is passing the bill of DNA. Another time, they are going to pass the bill of blood sample, our semen and maybe our egg as well. This is redicules, all these things are individual properties. How can they simply take away the right of ownership? How do we know they are not going to use it to create fake evidences(They are good at that!)? How do we know they are not going to use it for some other political agendas(Their credibility slumped down the first day they formed the government!)? Science is good for all human being, they are only used in the wrong situations by the wrongful hands. This bill must be stop. We are not criminal to have our DNA collected. DSAI, becareful with all your belongings, your hair in public, other “hair”(in the pubic) in the closet, etc…
So, I believe the toppling of the government is on its way. I heard someone said that the party in Sarawak is not a “Frog” party. Who said we are the frog party. Only political moron will say that. You see DSAI, they are so desperate that they will use any means to get rid of you. You are our true leader, they mess up with you they mess up with me and that means they mess up with a lot of your supporters here. WE FIGHT ALONG WITH YOU!!!

salam en muhd ali dll;
wassalam.

Jangan buang masa! ‘BIll of DNA’ adalah rentetan ‘Chapter of Sodomy II’.

I’m bemused with BN and its leaders. With severely damaged reputation they show no remorse at all. Talking about DNA bill one must understand the consequences. It is like a weapon. Whoever holds it could injure another. The BN is unstable now. If Anwar’s attempt to take over federal government becomes reality by September or near future than it would be equally fatal for BN as well.
A lot of unexpected things are being unraveled in Malaysia. Najib and Rosmah are suspected to be involved in Altantuya’s case. Who knows this DN bill could be used to solve the case.
ASSALAMUALAIKUM DSAI,DTGNAA,SAUDARAKU SEISLAM DAN SALAMSEJAHTERA SAHABATKU RAKYAT MALAYSIA,ALHAMDULILLAH,TERUSKAN AJENDA “NEGARA BERKEBAJIKAN” DAN “HARAPAN BARU UNTUK MALAYSIA”AMIN.

This is anti-anwar blog. This blog, and like few others, are operated by those to counter the many pro-Anwar or pro-reform blogs out there in the cyber sphere. We do appreciate their efforts to sustain these blogs as it proves their acceptance that many people look for information outside the main stream media. However, these blogs are very misleading as it portrays themselves as informative but they actually distort facts and in many cases they also do not appreciate and understand what goes on outside Malaysia whenever they make references to Anwar’s links to the outside world. Do read them to appreciate how bankrupt they are in their ideas to demonise others.

bravo mr anwar………..hidup pakatan for rakyat’s well-being.
Ahh that Syed Hamid Albar fella. There is only one thing for him to say. The bill is not targeted againts DSAI.
We only heard about the Bill after DSAI did not agree to give any DNA samples. Look at the bill, ‘rush job’ is written all over it.
The BN goons out there are blaming the alternative Media for their poor showings in the March 8th polls and the by election on the 26th. They fail to see that their party, their agenda is only focused on them selfs, cronies and their families. The BN has got no interest about the Rakyat at all. Just read the Sun today, stating that the previous BN led government in Selangor gave away land that was marked out for the rakyat, like schools, suraus, fire department’s office to private owners to build car show rooms, apartments and also a private house. That is BN for you. They are so out of touch with reality that they think it is people like RPK that is causing them to loose the polls. They openly insult our intelligence.
I also just read that the budget will only be debated after Raya on 13th October. Hahaha i’m sure that Badawi is scared shit that he will have to announce that budget infront of Anwar today. lol!
TAHNIAH DSAI…
As long as they remain as BN MPs, they are not alowed to speak up their mind. That is the ‘AKU JANJI’ which they have to observe. So how could these MPs fight for the rakyat? No, they cannot. They are fighting and protecting their bosses for the past 50 years, and going to be 51 years. If they pass this DNA Bill, who knows one day they will become the victims themselves.
Rakyat is Arabic word, the root word is ‘rai’. To be cared or looked after. Have we been taken cared all these while ?. Siki-sikit tu adalah.
By introducing the now debated DNA Identification Bill in Parliment, the BN Government especially the UMNO ministers is now using all sort of goverment machinery and system mechanism to achieve their personal agendas. Every malaysian know that with Dato Sri Anwar Ibrahim at the crossroad, none of these personal agendas could be reached. So what is that so called personal agendas?
***ROBBING PEOPLE’S MONEY LEGALLY THROUGH THE INCREASED MARGIN OF PETROL AND DIESEL PRICE PER LITRE.
***ROBBING PEOPLE’S FREEDOM TO ACCESS OF CREDIBLE INFORMATION BY BLOCKING AND BANNING THE WEBSITE OF MALAYSIA TODAY SO THAT PEOPLE WON’T HAVE ANY CHANCES TO KNOW THE TRUTH BEHIND SENSITIVE ISSUE AND SCANDLE OF UMNO MINISTERS.
The BN government has lost the legitimacy to rule and does not enjoy most substantive confidence from the rakyat. The entire Cabinet must resign and immediately thereafter, the House Member who commands the confidence of the majority shall seek the DYMM YDP Agong’s counsel to form a fresh government.
We shall then renew our pledge of national reconstruction, manage the affairs of State with the highest degree of governance, transparency and accountability and instill a new sense of determination to face immediate challenges and work towards a future imbued with honor and dignity and restore the rakyat’s confidence to overcome acts of incompetency, unethical management and wanton wastages of the country’s resources.
The new Government should then consider an open non-partisan ombudsman to consider ways and means to achieve national reconciliation whilst at the same time institute fundamental reforms to embody this regenerated will of the rakyat.
The present Government has failed and betrayed the rakyat, assuming our “nation” of multiethnicity as personal fiefdoms, irresponsibly desecrating the purported declaration of civilizational virtues imperative for national human development.
Tq teacher, I am a real teacher. When DSAI become the PM, a few suggestion of changes can be adopted. Namely,
(i) Allocation of National Bugget is based on the needity of the state, ask this Bee-ant fella do not use the racial sentiment to beg for bugget. We ask properly because we have the right.(Petroleum? Remember?)
(ii) Immigration policy, the same country cannot have two immigration policy. Common sense, we must open our heart and mind to let people from pennisular to enter without any extra travel document. I am not a traitor of Sarawak, I love Sarawak and I do not want to see it go back the the time of Meiji of Japan long time ago. New policy can actually encourage more businesses to this state which is the core factor to develop the state.
(iii) A fairer open tender to all races. Not only to the company that bare the name started with RH..this and RH..that.( You bust..d white croc, only the tanah kubur you cannot take).
Can we have the video of the full proceedings?
Dear DSAI n other Opposition MPs
Fight them (BN) till the end of their existence. Just let them be known only in our history. Put them all into the Museum.
Talking about DNA samples, may I remind DSAI to bring back the empty water bottle,or wipe off the saliva on the glass or cup used when water is given to him in parliament becos DNA sample can be easily taken from saliva left on the bottle…just for extra info, DNA samples also can be taken from hairs of person concerned. So DSAI do be careful!
i think we have had enough hearing ‘conspiracy here & conspiracy there, manipulation here and manipulation there’ over this couple of months. Only GOD knows how true…….but one thing that had PROVEN UNTRUE was the numerous allegations that the current government ‘would do what possible they could to manipulate the recent by-election in permatang pauh’ The result proved otherwise, PKR won!
So guys out there, are you still asleep ?
why did u sensor my message? was there anything malicious? i don’ think so.
it was all true, wasn’t it? aren’t we for freedom of speech, what else if the speech contains the truth nothing but the truth.
Grow up bros !

What is the urgency of this DNA Bill? Malaysians are going through difficult times at this stage and urgent attention should be introducing bills that will at least alleviate the hardship of the hardcore poor in the country. Is the BN government blind to all these problems? with the DNA bills stuck to their eyes.
The BN government seems to be experts in everything and consultations seem not necessary to them. They will only get consultants for mega project to squeeze lots and lots of money for themselves albeit the sufferings of the rakyat.
