Anwar Ibrahim warmed up to the Bandar Tun Razak electorate tonight as part of his by-election ‘campaign’ in a constituency which he claims to be eyeing as a ticket to Parliament.
In a hastily arranged ceramah, the charismatic leader spoke to the nearly 2,000 strong multiracial crowd which braved the drizzle throughout the 75-minute speech at a surau compound in Taman Len Sen.
Despite the wide range of topics, his main agenda of the night was to signal his intention to contest in the area and test the waters.
Needless to say, the crowd gave Anwar the verbal approval when he asked if he could contest the seat which is currently held by Selangor Menteri Besar and PKR comrade Khalid Ibrahim.
“I want to say that maybe, I might contest here,” said Anwar to loud roars of approval.
“But if I contest here, hundred of millions would be poured in (to buy votes). Can you resist (the temptation)? If you cannot, please tell me beforehand,” he added.
Sept 16 – still on
Anwar said that he and the Pakatan Rakyat alliance was not keen on seizing power just for the sake of it but it was a bid to save the economy from jahanam (being destroyed).
He also rationalised that the move to contest in a by-election was necessary as Sabah and Sarawak MPs had stressed that he should do so.
“They have told me that if you are serious, then you must enter Parliament first,” he said.
Anwar said that he had been in discussion with leaders from Pakatan coalition partners DAP and PAS on the possibility of contesting for the Bandar Tun Razak seat or the Kulim Bandar Baharu seat in Kedah.
“They can plan to stop our march to Putrajaya but they cannot derail our efforts. God willing, in a few days we can announce where the by-election would be held,” he said.
‘It’s now or never’
He said that the weak economy and country’s leadership require immediate change and thus motivated Pakatan to make its push towards Putrajaya.
“It’s now or never…” crooned Anwar, who is a well-known Elvis Presley fan, adding that he was confident the Sept 16 deadline was still achievable despite recent setbacks.
In his speech, Anwar also lambasted Umno for stoking Malay sentiments against Pakatan Rakyat, particularly PAS and PKR.
Among such efforts was the Umno’s bid to form a coalition government with PAS in Selangor and using the Malay press to portray PAS and PKR as stooges of DAP.
“When they are desperate, they talk about race. Why didn’t they talk about ketuanan Melayu before the general election?” he asked.
Anwar continues his nationwide roadshow in Kulim tomorrow evening.

1. If anyone thinks as a Malaysian at heart you will never support any of the current political parties who speaks only about championing or protecting their own race and religious interests. Whether it belongs to UMNO, PAS, MCA, MIC, PKR, Gerakan, Hindraf, PBS, DAP, PPP or whatever new name. It’s called racism and whoever supports that party is called a racist. It is no different from apartheid. It dirties and poison your soul.
2. Those who are racists but speak with a fork tongue (Jeyklls), hiding it behind other causes like religion, meritocracy, education, poverty etc are even worse than clear cut racists and can only fit into the category of satans.
3. Malaysian racists and the MSN have corrupted the following words which meant differently in other countries ex. nationalism, patriotism, royalists, freedom, liberty, corruption, democracy etc.
4. Power, Greed and Selfishnish rule in Malaysia and now we include Racism and Satanism.

I look forward to Anwar becoming a parliamentarian again. As in the movie – “V for Vendetta), “there is something terribly wrong with the country”. So the earlier Anwar is back in Parliament, the better.
I write here to encourage readers to watch this movie – “V for Vendetta” – on YouTube. It is an excellent film produced by the Wachowski brothers of “The Matrix” fame, and helmed by James McTeigue who directed the “Die Hard” action movies. Notable actors include Hugo Weaving – who is great as “V” – Natalie Portman, John Hurt, and Tim Piggot-Smith.
“V for Vendetta” is a political commentary on England sometime in the near future where it has become an authoritarian police state and where Justice seemed “to have gone on holiday”. The script is excellent with many quotable quotes. The action scenes mesmerising.
There is many paralell between this film and our current sitution. Type in the Search box on YouTube – “V for Vendetta – Full Movie (v1 of v13)”. There are 13 clips. The movie and sound quality is excellent. Do read also the comments by the actors in the interviews.
I think it would be wonderful if this film is referred to as many friends as possible. No just here in Malaysia, but also in other countries especially in South East Asia.
Watch, learn and think. Enjoy yourelves also at the same time.

Malaysians in Sabah and Sarawak are hungry for change. They need you to effect the change at the Federal level so that development in these two states will never again be forgotten .We have been in Malaysia for the last 35years,yet many still rely on kerosene lamps to light their homes. School children still schooling in dilapidated huts.We want a responsible Government, a government that seeks the betterment of all Malaysians!!

Dear Mr Patek 1472,
I think you should be more specific enough about your views of who the real racists, in this case UMNO and the BN as everyone would agree.
But going by what you state below:
“2. Those who are racists but speak with a fork tongue (Jeyklls), hiding it behind other causes like religion, meritocracy, education, poverty etc are even worse than clear cut racists and can only fit into the category of satans.”
You are falling into the trap of the UMNO/BN racists – their stigmatising everyone who call them racists…racists themselves”. By the above statement, you are implying that the non-Malay opposition leaders who criticise UMNO’s racism are racists themselves!
UMNO (I won’t even say the BN because the MCA, MIC, Gerakan, are irrelevant) is the govt and dictates political trends in the country. So it is UMNO which starts all this racist talk of bumis and non-bumis….and when non-bumis, rightly protest, UMNO accuses them of being racists….
So the only people who can end this crass UMNO racism is only Anwar Ibrahim and some top Malay leaders in UMNO and PAS.. not people like Lim Kit Siang and other DAP leaders who would be accused of being racists by UMNO…
So we should all rightly support Anwar Ibraihim and Keadilan to end UMNO’s crass racism like Ketuanan Melayu once and for all…

Wonder what else BN-UMNO will come up with next? After so-do-me…hmmm, maybe wan-tan-mee. Bad joke.
Ask anyone in the street how is the economy? It will be very different to what the gov is painting in the papers. This is just to fool the kampung folk that are less informed.

I would like to pose you, Malaysiakini, a question. Since being granted official passes to cover BN functions which previously were closed to you, I wonder whether you have been bought over by UMNO to play their mischievous and insidious game of splitting not only the Pakatan Rakyat, but also opposition parties such as PAS.You, Malaysiakini, are slowly behaving like NST, Star, Utusan, BH, carrying out UMNO’s mischievous agenda to hang on to power now that it is in danger of being bowled out by Anwar Ibrahim should the defections succeed. You only do it in a different and more insidious manner, but nevertheless having the nod from none other than Pak Lah.
Malaysiakini, do you realize that you are playing right into UMNO’s hands by continuously churning out reports which would pit PAS and DAP against each other and in the process becomes UMNO’s tool in splitting the PR? What’s your point in giving wide publicity to someone like Karpal Singh who always has a lot of negative things to say about PAS which would drive PAS straight into UMNO’s waiting arms and thus make the coalition talks of an all Malay-centric govt of UMNO and PAS a success? May I also ask you why do you carry reports of PAS deputy president Nasharudin saying that the Malays are beginning to believe that Anwar actually committed sodomy? Don’t you realize that you are being used by UMNO to split the PR and undo all the hard work Anwar has been doing to unite the fragile coalition which can topple UMNO/BN?
We were all so happy when you Malaysiakini carried reports about the last general election in a way which exposed all the UMNO/BN’s fraud as well as the lies of the mainstream papers and history was created when the BN lost its 2/3 parliamentary majority and lost 5 states – Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Perak and Selangor – to PR. We were also quite happy when you continued to expose a lot of UMNO’s skeletons like all the bungled accusations against Anwar Ibrahim in such a way the people can judge for themselves to know who the real culprits are. All Malaysians tired of 50 years of UMNO racism, corruption, nepotism and cronyism thought you were actually doing a good job as the 4th estate in helping to send UMNO to its rightful political exit.
But lately with your reports of Pak Lah talking about the UMNO/PAS coalition talks followed by Karpal Singh and Nasharudin saying things which would split the PR and playing right into the hands of UMNO, I think Malaysiakini, it is high time you stop being UMNO’s tool to split the PR and undo all that Anwar Ibrahim and PR have so studiously built up to boot out an UMNO that is about to self destruct. Wake up Malaysiakini and do not let fall into the trap of being UMNO’s tool to split the PR!

I strongly believe that DSAI should contest in Bandar Tun Razak. Urban folks are badly affected by the fuel price and food crisis. Urban voters are smart and matured enough to vote for you. We, Malaysian in UK can’t wait to see you to win and become PM in September. We want you to reform Malaysia from corrupted system and bad regime. As said by Dato’ Fauzi Rahman, BN lose, Rakyat Win. Rakyat has suffred enough under BN for 50 years. May Allah be with you and give you strength and BE OUR HERO.

I do support the truth.
No matter who is the person. No matter what is the party he belongs.
No matter at all. The first and the last thing is The Truth.
Presently you all can see where the truth is belong to.
Of course the Pakatan Rakyat and Anwar.
Previously, yes we can see clearly the truth belong to UMNO, MCA and MIC.
They formed as one alliance to fight, serve and scarife for country and rakyat.
But that is the old pemimpin, not like today’s pemimpin in BN.
Correct, correct, correct, let’s correct it now or never.
Believe me not all the BN top gun are not happy with the boss or bosses.
But they are like someone who ‘ditelan mati emak dibuang mati bapak’.
They still love the party not the boss, but they forget one go one come….back to the
square one,CORRUPTION and NEPOTISM.
So what is your solution SDRA ANWAR IBRAHIM,they are love the party but not the bosses.
They want to know what is your Pakatan Rakyat cabinets structures if you able to form the government? May I suggest 2 Deputy Prime Minister.
2 Assistant Deputy Prime Minister (never heard before? Try it)
They (4 ministers) are qualify to be next PM. How? let’s the Pakatan Rakyat members decide by
votes. Next steps……..to be continue on 16th SEPTEMBER 2008.
