—25 August 2009— I am extremely grateful of Pakatan Rakyat’s victory at the Permatang Pasir’s by-election. For the several months that I have been attacked with slanders of being a traitor to my own race and deserting them, today’s victory proves that the people have rejected the political tools that the UMNO-BN leadership had used to create disunity.

I wish to extend my greatest appreciation to entire machinery of the by-election, who has patiently faced hardship in this holy month of Ramadhan. Well done to YB Haji Salleh Man for his victory, and do achieve the expectations of trust and mandate given by the people.

This majority win evidently assures the people’s confidence towards Pakatan Rakyat, their strong desire for change and a bright future for Pakatan Rakyat.

Malahan Sasterawan Negara A. Samad Said turut menyumbang sebuah rencana untuk keluaran sulungnya.

Soon after fulfilling our responsibility as voters at the Permatang Pasir state by-elections, Azizah and I left for home to Kuala Lumpur. Looking at our effective workforce, our high-spirited campaign machinery and our campaign message that was widely accepted by the people, god willing, victory will be on Pakatan Rakyat’s side.

During the journey home, I was told that the internal state affairs had invaded the offices of new humour magazine, Gedung Kartun. The magazine is the brainchild of famous cartoonist, Sdr Zunar, together with his 15 other creative team members. National laureate, A. Samad Said had also contributed an article to its first issue.

Their quick and swift action had obstructed the distribution of the caricature of Dato’ Seri Najib with the Mongolian flag. However, we do not see such quick and swift action when investigations are carried out for the abuse of power involving human trafficking. The ministry had also failed to provide a satisfactory explanation in regards to reports that Malaysian banks were used for the purchase of weapons between North Korea and the Burmese Junta.

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has denied a report that he had a private meeting with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Prime Minister’s residence in Putrajaya recently.

Anwar said he had met Najib privately in the past, but not recently.

“Who said that (I met with the Prime Minister)? Did Datuk Seri Najib say that?” he told reporters after casting his vote at SK Seri Penanti, Permatang Pasir here on Tuesday.

Anwar said on Tuesday that he meets Najib often during the Dewan Rakyat sitting.

On Monday, an online news portal reported carried a report on a purported secret meeting between Anwar and Najib last month.

It alleged that Najib had asked for the Opposition to work closely with the Government.
