KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin was thrown out of Parliament moments after he was sworn in this morning as the new Bukit Gantang MP.
He had led Pakatan Rakyat (PR) MPs in chants of “Hidup rakyat (long live the people)” and “Bubar DUN (dissolve the assembly)” as soon as the swearing-in ceremony ended, with some of them seen wearing headbands with the words “Bubar Dun”.
Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, who was annoyed by the Perak lawmakers, asked Nizar, M. Kulasegaran, Ngeh Koo Ham and Nga Kor Ming to leave the House, after they refused to remove the headbands.

Statement by Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the VK Lingam Video Scandal
This video recording implicates the highest office of judiciary in a conspiracy to pervert the cause of justice through the machinations of a lawyer tainted with a scandalous history involving questionable dealings and conduct that brings disrepute to the legal and judicial professions.
In 1994, lawyer VK Lingham was photographed with the then Chief Justice Tun Eusoffe Chin holidaying in New Zealand under circumstances that would give rise to the inference of a serious breach of professional conduct on part of the lawyer and even more serious implications of unethical conduct on the part of the Chief Justice. Lingham was also implicated in the PricewaterhouseCoopers report which was tabled to Parliament following a thorough audit investigation of the Perwaja Steel scandal involving the loss of billions of ringgit of taxpayers’ money.
In this video, Lingham was seen and heard to be talking to the current Chief Justice of the Federal Court, Tun Ahmad Fairuz Abdul Halim wherein my name, among others, is specifically mentioned.
It is mentioned in the context of a conspiracy to influence the appointment of senior judges and pervert the cause of justice. In view of this, we have reason to believe that whatever has transpired in this exchange in 2002 had some bearing on the outcomes in a number of judicial proceedings, including mine.
The video also implicates Vincent Tan and Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. The former is a businessman and gaming tycoon who was allegedly at the center of a scandal involving the abuse of the judicial process now known as the Ayer Molek case. The latter is a prominent Umno leader and a member of the Cabinet who was involved in the political conspiracy to remove me in 1998.
Such a scandalous expose, as indeed this video really is, only serves to corroborate our allegations of a political conspiracy of the highest level and corruption of the highest judicial office, seriously bringing into question the impartiality of judicial proceedings involving the affected parties. This is matter of utmost public importance and we demand the setting up of an Independent Tribunal to investigate this shameful and scandalous episode.
In this regard, we make a special appeal to the conference of rulers to continue to play their constitutionally entrenched role in safeguarding the rights of the people by exercising their discretionary powers in all matters within their jurisdiction.
Menurutnya seringkali sosok keras menimbulkan masaalah kapada gerakan lantaran keengganan mereka tunduk kapada semangat jamaah.
13th June 2009, The massacre at Al Furqan mosque in Narathiwat’s Cho Airong district on Monday evening, which resulted in the death of 12 Muslim villagers and 11 seriously injured, represents the latest atrocity in the ongoing humanitarian tragedy that has resulted from the insurgency in Southern Thailand. The shooting of defenseless and unarmed villagers performing their evening prayers in a place of worship is an unconscionable and deplorable act, and I sincerely hope that the perpetrators will be swiftly identified and brought to justice by the Thai authorities.
However, this tragic incident cannot be viewed in isolation from the long-running cycle of violence between the Malay Muslim insurgency movement and Thai military forces that has resulted in over 3,400 deaths since 2004. It is clear that restoring peace to this troubled region will not be achieved by the suppression of the insurgency movement through the use of force by military authorities. Harsh repression of the region’s Malay Muslim community in a bid to halt violent activities has proved counterproductive in the past and has only added to the level of resentment and grievances, fuelling the insurgency movement and aiding recruitment for violent groups.
I welcome the new approach of the Thai government of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, in recognizing that a solution to the violence in the region will depend on bringing economic development and “justice and opportunities” to the troubled areas. While the other causes of the conflict, including valid concerns over the preservation of local culture, language and religion, must also be addressed, I believe that providing economic opportunities for the people in Southern Thailand is key to finding a long-term solution to the current conflict.
Given the depth of resentment and mistrust between the parties involved, the success of plans for economic development will depend on reconciliation between the local community and the Thai Government. I strongly recommend the setting up of an independent commission, staffed by impartial and highly respected members drawn from both the local community and the Thai Government, to hold public hearings to investigate cases of violence and stop abuses that have marred community relations in the region for the past half-century.
An important next step will involve evaluating and changing the policies that disregard the ethnic and cultural identity of the Malay Muslim community in the region. In this regard, it is imperative that the Thai authorities actively engage and cooperate with local religious leaders to gain the support of the local community.
Given the security implications to both countries of an escalation of the conflict and the risk of potential infiltration by foreign extremists, I would strongly urge the current Malaysian administration, in cooperation with the Thai Government, to take a larger and more active role in the resolution of the current conflict, capitalizing on the trust and goodwill between the communities in the region and Malaysia.

Johor Daily dilaporkan sehingga 10.30 pagi tadi kehadiran mencecah hampir 1,000 perwakilan.
KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is crying foul. With less than a month before he goes on trial for sodomy again, the opposition leader has yet to receive key documents from the Public Prosecutor (PP), which he says he is entitled to under the law.
In a statement yesterday from his lawyer, the former deputy prime minister accused the PP of purposely withholding information and denying him a fair trial.
He also charged the PP of taking part in a political conspiracy against him and demands the sodomy charges against him be dropped immediately.
“The Public Prosecutor has much to hide and as such, this prosecution of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is clearly an abuse, frivolous, unjust and is tantamount to a political persecution,” Sankara Nair said on behalf of Anwar.
Sankara noted the PP seemed to be repeating tired methods to deny Anwar a fair trial, employing an “ambush prosecution” tactic used in the Sodomy I case back in 1998/ 99.
We have today filed a notice of motion applying to the High Court to compel the Public Prosecutor to deliver, as a matter of right, as provided by law under Sections 51 and 51A of the Criminal Procedure Code, inter alia, statements of witnesses, original DNA samples for DNA testing, medical notes, photographs, CCTV recordings of relevant dates and other evidence which they intend to use against DSAI in the trial (see enclosed Affidavit of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim), to enable us to advise and prepare the best defence for Dato’ Seri Anwar.
We reiterate that Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is lawfully entitled to the best defence, as
such unless ALL that we have applied for are delivered up to us by the Public Prosecutor, within reasonable time, the legal team will not be in a position to proffer and prepare adequately the best defence that our client is lawfully entitled to.
In this regard, we are deeply disappointed and rather perturbed that the Public Prosecutor has acted most unprofessionally and unethically. This is predicated by the lackadaisical and deliberate attitude displayed by the Public Prosecutor in not supplying us with the above said statements, recordings and so on, despite our several formal letters of request made, as early as 8th September 2008 and thereafter on 19th Jan 2009, 29th April 2009, followed by several reminders thereon. Note that save for the earlier delivery of just one statement and a few photo prints picked out of a purported CCTV recording, nothing else that was requested by us have been supplied to us hitherto. More over, we have only received one reply of late dated 6th June 2009 rejecting all our requests except for the request for electro pharograms (which has yet to be supplied). Further, the Public Prosecutor has deceptively stated in the said letter that they have already supplied us with the CCTV recordings when they have never done so. It is also gravely disappointing that even though the trial is set to commence on the 1st of July 2009, the above necessary statements, recordings and so on have yet to be supplied to us.
We consider this act of non-cooperation by the Public Prosecutor as deliberately designed to, inter alia:
i. scupper and deny the preparation of the best possible defence for
our client;
ii. deprive and or conceal from our client the evidence that is
favourable to him in his defence;
iii. practise ambush prosecution as they did unto him in 1998/99,
leaving our client little or no time and opportunity to get expert or
other assistance during trial;
iv. deprive our client the opportunity to check and verify the veracity
and authenticity of the original DNA and other samples, which they
are using to make baseless allegations against our client at this stage; and
v. deny our client a fair trial
We further state that by virtue of the above, the Public Prosecutor has much to hide and as such, this prosecution of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is clearly an abuse, frivolous, unjust and is tantamount to a political persecution. As such, in the name of justice, we again called upon the Public Prosecutor to withdraw the charge against our client with immediate effect.
