KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry’s appeal against blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin’s (RPK) release from ISA detention has been postponed pending a decision on a motion of review of the Federal Court’s decision last week dismissing an application to recuse Justice Datuk Augustine Paul.

A separate three-member panel, comprising Court of Appeals President Tan Sri Alauddin Mohd Sherrif, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Datuk Richard Malanjum and Chief Judge Datuk Arifin Hashim, reserved judgement on the review to a date yet to be determined.

Raja Petra had filed a motion last Friday to review the Federal Court’s dismissal on Feb 17 of his earlier application to recuse Justice Augustine Paul from hearing the home minister’s appeal against Raja Petra’s release from Internal Security Act (ISA) detention.

Apabila ketua Pembangkang di Dun Selangor, Dato’ Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo melakukan serangan terhadap Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, dua tiga orang pembaca menggesa agar saya memberikan reaksi. Mereka mahu saya menyerang balas Khir kerana, bagi mereka, saya mempunyai banyak “peluru” untuk ditujukan kepada calon Ketua Pemuda Umno itu.

Saya menjawab: “Semuanya cerita lama, saya sudah serahkan laporan lengkap, rasanya lebih daripada lima kali kepada BPR, sama ada di Putrajaya mahupun Shah Alam. Saya terbitkan akhbar tentang hal itu, ada yang dirampas, babitkan lebih 50,000 naskhah, kereta dipecahkan dan kemudiannya sakit hampir dua tahun!”

Bagaimanapun, apabila Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) yang dikatakan mahu membanteras amalan rasuah, suatu jenayah paling merbahaya dan kronik, secara lebih serius dan menyeluruh itu, melalui Ketua Pesuruhjayanya, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Said Hamdan membuat kenyataan bahawa terdapat bukti-bukti kukuh menunjukkan Khalid menyalahguna kuasanya berhubung penyelenggaran kereta peribadinya serta pembelian 46 lembu korban, saya dihubungi lebih ramai pembaca.

DISCREPENCIES IN PNSB’S PURCHASE OF SAUDI APARTMENT

SHAH ALAM: In order to promote efficiency in the administration and management of the state government’s subsidiaries, the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) has appointed advisors to assist in enhancing the subsidiaries’ performance. One of the areas covered by the advisors is the evaluation of expenses which an important exercise given the current economic downturn.

One of MBI’s concerns is the delay in finalizing the 2007 financial accounts of Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB). It has come to the attention of the current board of directors that there were discrepancies in the purchase of properties of “Al Marwa Tower Makkah, Saudi Arabia” – an issue which was raised by External Auditors.

According to the PNSB Directors Circular Resolution dated 14 September 2007, PNSB had approved for the purchase of five units of properties amounting to RM8,352,427.66. However, records showed that PNSB had between September 17, 2007 and September 19, 2007 transferred RM25,603,545 to Saudi Arabia for 12 units of properties. Between September 25, 2007 and October 3, 2007 PNSB received cheques amounting to RM17,251,092 from an individual – said to be for the purchase of seven units from PNSB at the price PNSB had paid for. No official receipt was issued to acknowledge it.

Subsequently, in 2008 it has come to the attention of Board of Directors that PNSB prepared and signed four cheques amounting to RM8,000,205.20 to an individual. The individual is the same person who had earlier handed over cheques to PNSB amounting to RM17,251,032 stated above.

However, three of the four cheques prepared and signed by authorized signatories were then cancelled. The fourth cheque amounting RM2 million was released and banked in into the account of the individual. PNSB then arranged with the bank to stop payment. Between the date of the acquisition of the additional seven units making a total of 12 units and the disposal of the seven units leaving five units in the hand of PNSB, there was no Board of Directors Meeting or Board of Directors Circular Resolution for the transaction. Up to the point of issuance and cancellation of cheques to the individual, no Board minutes or circular resolution were made.

It should be noted that the acquisition was made in the name of the then PNSB Chairman Dato Sri Dr. Khir Toyo as Saudi requirement that properties within the Mecca must be in the name of Muslim individuals. At the Board of Directors meeting on December 2007 Dr Khir disclosed the facts the properties are in his name but assured that he will not be making any claim over the property. However, there was no mention of the exact number of units held by him.

The above actions are certainly puzzling. Why did PNSB paid more than RM25 million when the board only approved about RM8 million for five units? Why did it then accept about RM17 million – said to be for the sale of the seven units? Why did it then attempt to re-purchase the units it had sold off? Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who is the chairman of MBI, intends to find the answers to the above questions and will not hesitate to take strong action should there be any criminality involved.

Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang, Lim Guan Eng telah menafikan laporan akbar Utusan Malaysia hari ini bahawa kerajaan negeri tersebut telah menubuhkan majlis perundingan antara agama tahun lalu.

“Semua itu satu pembohongan… kita tidak ada majlis seumpama itu,” katanya kepada pemberita di Parlimen hari ini.

Katanya, beliau telah mengarahkan peguamnya supaya memfailkan saman fitnah terhadap akhbar tersebut kerana menyiarkan berita yang tidak benar.

KAJI SELIDIK DAN KEMASKINI REKOD PERAKAUNAN PNSB

SHAH ALAM – Kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat Negeri Selangor sangat mementingkan ketelusan dan kebertanggungjawaban dalam menjalankan pentadbiran Kerajaan serta pengendalian anak-anak syarikat Kerajaan Negeri.

Baru-baru ini, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor selaku Pengerusi Pemerbadanan Menteri Besar Selangor telah mengenal pasti beberapa kelemahan dan kesalahan dalam penyimpanan rekod perakaunan syarikat Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB).

Antara rekod-rekod yang disyaki terlibat termasuk penyerahan dokumen kepada Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) dan urusniaga pembelian serta penjualan hartanah di Mekah diantara tahun 2006-2007.

Two things I pretty much stay away from blogging about – people’s families, and people’s sex lives. You’ll never see pictures of the sexy exploits of politician’s sons on Jelas (though perhaps, that’s more due to jealousy than anything else, haha).

I thought about it though, and in this case, I think it is in fact in the national interest – due to a question that needs to be answered (see below).

Terlebih dahulu saya bermohon beribu kemaafan kerana lama meninggalkan saudara tanpa kemaskini halaman ini. Situasi semasa memerlukan saya sepenuh masa menangani beberapa permasalah akibat rampasan kuasa (coup d”etat) oleh UMNO BN pada 5 februari 2009.

Ini sejarah hitam bagi rakyat negeri Perak apabila dengan zalim dan rakusnya Timbalan Presiden UMNO, Najib Tun Razak mengadap DYMM Sultan Perak pada pagi 5 Feb. 2009 untuk merompak hak rakyat tersebut melalui pintu belakang.

Semalam saya hadhir memenuhi undangan Majlis Pelancaran Tabung Bantuan untuk Sekolah Sin Ming di Puchong. Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim mengumumkan bantuan sebanyak RM 50 ribu dari pihak kerajaan negeri Selangor buat sekolah tersebut.

Turut hadhir dalam majlis itu ialah YB Yaakob Sapari, YB Abdullah Sani, YB Teresa Kok, juga beberapa pimpinan Pakatan Rakyat Negeri Selangor serta masyarakat Tiong Hua sekitar.

Dalam ucapan saya mengungkap kata-kata Han Su Yin yang terkenal iaitu, “Empat Lautan Terbentang Luas, Semua Manusia Bersaudara”. Teras dasar Pakatan Rakyat sangat jelas iaitu memastikan semua kaum di Malaysia tidak dipinggirkan.

Meski pun diberi amaran oleh Kementerian Pelajaran, masyarakat setempat begitu ghairah menyokong usaha Kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat Negeri Selangor di dalam memperkasa pendidikan ibunda; baik jenis kebangsaan, Tamil dan Cina.

Jelas sekali pendukung UMNO-BN sememangnya tidak mahu berubah. Keutamaan mereka hanya satu yakni untuk tetap berkuasa walau ianya menidakkan kemahuan rakyat.
