AirAsia boss Tony Fernandez has described his decision to sponsor Khairy Jamaluddin’s MyTeam football project as being the “biggest mistake” of his life.

He said the move – which was meant to make some local lads’ dreams come true – “backfired” instead when it was rumoured that Khairy, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s son-in-law, owned a stake in AirAsia.

“The biggest mistake of my life, and to be fair to this guy, (was when) Khairy Jamaluddin’s team came to propose sponsoring the MyTeam (football project). (more…)

Selepas kejutan yang dibuat Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (Adun) Bota, kini wakil rakyat Lintang pula Datuk Ahmad Fakeh Adam sedang menimbang untuk meninggalkan Umno “beberapa hari lagi”.

“Ketika ini 50-50. (Niat) nak kekal (dalam Umno) dengan masuk pembangkang sama banyak.

“Orang PAS, PKR dan DAP hari-hari telefon dan hantar SMS. Yang dah datang jumpa pun ada, yang nak jumpa pun ada lagi,” katanya kepada Malaysiakini hari ini.

Beliau bagaimanapun belum memutuskan parti pembangkang yang bakal disertainya jika meninggalkan BN. (more…)

Malaysia’s opposition leader should find out in a few weeks’ time whether he will face a trial for sodomy.

Anwar Ibrahim was accused of assaulting a male former party worker. But he has told the BBC that he doubts his day in court will come any time soon because his accusers want the case to drag on well into 2009.

“I don’t honestly worry about this,” Mr Anwar says of the impending court hearing, when he will find out the date of his trial for sodomy.
