SHAH ALAM: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is casting their eyes towards Sabah and Sarawak in their bid to takeover the government, promising petrol royalties and greater East Malaysian participation in federal participation.
PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail told the party’s national congress today, “PKR is actively restructuring our operations and forging strong ties with the new generation of Sabahans and Sarawakians to ensure a better victory in the future.”
“We are committed to our promise of returning 20% of petroleum production proceeds in Sabah and Sarawak to the peribumi as well as giving them a more active role in the federal government if we govern the country,” she added.
“I am confident that this marks the beginning of a movement for change in Sabah and Sarawak.
“We promise an interesting performance at the Sarawak state election that will be held in 2009, god willing,” she said.
Revisiting the 12th general elections, Wan Azizah lamented irregularities in the election process and lashed out at Barisan Nasional (BN).
“Today, we see BN component parties in disarray, pointing fingers and clawing among themselves because they have not recovered from the defeats but is still in a state of denial.
Calling the unprecedented election results “the people’s victory”, Wan Azizah said that it was a big moral defeat for the Barisan Nasional government and a result that has altered the landscape of Malaysian politics.
Wan Azizah said that if the Pakatan Rakyat alliance - which also includes DAP and PAS - was successful in capturing Sabah and Sarawak during the elections, they would have “certainly formed the federal government.”
The Pakatan Rakyat needs to secure the crossover of at least 30 parliamentarians to form a simple majority and takeover the federal leadership, having won 82 of the 222 seats in the previous elections.
Wan Azizah also slammed the power transition plan from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to Deputy Prime MInister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
“The transfer of power will not bring any positive change in the breakdown of the country’s main governing institutions such as the judiciary, police force, anti-corruption agency and parliament,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ngemah state assemblyman Gabriel Adit urged all PKR members to cooperate in increasing the party’s foothold in Sarawak, warning that BN is not easily defeated in that state.
“BN Sarawak is not weak, let me tell you, we have to strengthen ourselves,” he said.
Adit contended on an independent ticket during the previous election and has since joined PKR, bringing with him almost 12,000 new members.
PKR claims to have almost half a million members.
Between four to five thousand people packed the Malawati Stadium this morning for the second day of PKR’s national congress, which comprised of 1927 registered delegates and 1200 observers.
Today’s session saw the attendance of prominent Pakatan Rakyat leaders, including PAS secretary-general Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, DAP chairman Karpal Singh, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) leader Datuk Yong Teck Lee.
A surprise guest this morning was former minister in the prime minister’s department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
Selangor chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and Perak chief minister Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin were also present.
PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was escorted into the stadium at 10.10am by a marching band and was greeted with a standing ovation, chants of “Reformasi” and a flurry of banners.

Seluruh rakyat sedang memerhati!
watever it is just do it.make it happen datin sri. DONT indulge into another dateline-givings like wat ur husband did.it was completely unnecessary & has given ammos to UMNO/BN to poke fun at him and shake his credibility, and the public 2 r somewat affected in a negative way in their perception towards ur hubby.
datin sri,ur hubby is indeed a STATESMAN (unlike the ‘apanama’ guy who somehow managed to receive a ’statesman’ title from some foreign organisations unheard of b4), so do not undermine his status allowing him make silly political miscalculations like the 16th Sep debacle.
keep up the strong leadership for the opposition in parliament. we hav no one else to thank more than ur hubby in the reduction of fuel prices for had in NOT been for his impressive performance in the fuel debate and his strong presence in parliament to check the BN govt for any pontential wrongdoings, the BN wud not hav brought down the fuel prices they had so eagerly brought up in the 1st place.now they r even talkin bout a further reduction to RM 1.60!(think they wud giv a damn for the laymen if there isnt a strong opposition?)
thank u so v much dato’ sri & datin sri & ur fellow opposition MPs who fought so hard to keep BN at bay with watever hanky-panky ideas they may hav to abuse the country’s wealth. we, the public owes it all to u people. our lives r made easier(at least on the fuel prices we hav to pay) thanx to ur unrelenting pressure.
thanx again.
Assalamualaikum,
DSAI N Family…!
Great…, Great…., Great…., That was Great..!
This are the dreams from deep inside of the East Malaysian hearts, especially; Most of Sabahan. As for me; One of Sabahan KDM’s views from the Interior side, i am fully supporting and commited with PKR’s tasks and goals for keeping casting their eyes towards Sabah and Sarawak to ensure and governed Malaysian government in the future. Insya Allah..! We are fully commited to the strugles of PKR in Sabah, behind Datuk Dr. Jeffery Kitingan, as well as DSAI in national level.
There is a saying that “Barani Kerana Benar, Takut Kerana Salah” is no longer can be used as far as the present government concerns. Because we; As Sabahan viewed ” Berani Kerana Benar, Takut Kerana Kuasa “, these are the problems that most Sabahan has. We are not fear to fight for the rights of people in Sabah, but due to the power of the government, by using power of love; ISA, so; Whether or not to take it, have to have shut certain people mouths, there are foods and drinks inside the ISA but at the same time we have wasted our time to be in there.
Isu of Petroleums and the participations of East Malaysian in the Federal Government is the most of the most isu for Sabahan and Sarawakian. We hope that, when the time has come… the victory of Reformation, in the future is going to be implemented…., Insya Allah…, please be commited to the promisses, because Sabahan has been attracted and fall in love with those promisses.Insya Allah.
Thanks,

NCR Land Of Sarawak Is Being Plundered!!! Reply:
November 30th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Saya sokong. Orang Sarawak mahu kerajaan baru sebab kerajaan sekarang telah dihijack oleh Saitan dan konco-konconya under the disguise of Politics Of Development. taieee nya aja ada!!! Tulah nya ila. The institutional government of sarawak could not function anymore in helping the natives especially with the land issues. SOS situation now. They just survey the natives land without even the courtesy to invite them together to develop their land, give to their proxy companies for oil palm development. They are making use of the legal procedures to alienate natives lands for their self-interest and greed. check on this comnpany Usaha jasamaju Sdn Bhd, com no. 660630-K who was given land at lot 00890, Samarahan land District 354.00000 Ha, already converted to mixed zone at expense of the villagers there. Now they are moving buldozers & tractor there plundering their land tru legal process which was in fact self interest & greed. the villagers there need help coz Land Survey, polis, District Office & YBs are useless now!!!. This is one of the true examples now. awang Tengah said govt do not take peoples land. He is a great liar. Genuine cases for roads, infrastructure dev is true but not for lands given to their proxy companies. They go for natives land now, coz no more kayu balak at Rajang. They have finished plundered the Dayaks wealth with their Foochows konco-konco at Sibu there, now they are after natives land. Gov don’t want to survey natives land now c0z of ada udang disebalik batu. The government institution is already being hijacked by the land Pirates of Borneo. Therefore we need new govt, pakatan is best alternative. Hidup DSAI, Nik Aziz, Lim Kit Siang.
The key to change is to mobilize the various ethnic groups in the vast interior of the two large East Malaysian States. In Sarawak in particular the voice of the Dayak and Kayan communities is thinly spread over several political parties, and resulted in their views under-represented.
