KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 – Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appeared to stop short today of saying his Pakatan Rakyat (PR) alliance will have to wait until the next general election to make a serious bid for power.
He told reporters that he would not explain why the PR alliance has not yet taken power at this weekend’s PKR party congress.
“There is nothing to explain. It will happen,” Anwar said in Parliament. He did not set another deadline.

It is only appropriate that that tribute should have been penned by another splendidly dedicated doctor and fighter for the poor, Dr Jayakumar Devaraj, who is the brother of Rajen Devaraj, our ever-obliging officer at the Bar Secretariat.
Dr Rajakumar had been in University in Singapore with my elder brothers in the early 1950s as were people like Sydney Woodhull and James Puthucheary. It was very thrilling to hear about their tales of anti-colonial daring and about the University Socialist Club which played such a seminal role in nurturing the young Malayan patriots. And then the Colonial authorities took action and charged the entire editorial board of Fajar, the paper of the Socialist Club, with sedition. I think the “offending” editorial had welcomed the Viet Minh victory over the French at Dien Bien Phu and forecast the impending doom of Imperialism all over South East Asia.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim menghadiri Majlis Makan Malam dan Bengkel Mini Pakatan Raykat pada 25 November 2008. Turut hadir bersama rakan-rakan seperjuangan didalam Pakatan Rakyat.
