Anwar says those who use ISA not fit to rule

From The Malaysian Insider

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today he believes that Malays or Muslims who use cruel laws against Hindus are not qualified to rule the country.

He also accused the Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia newspaper of twisting facts to spark off hatred of the Malays for Hindus.

The issue at hand, he said, was the use of the Internal Security Act, which Anwar described as a cruel law.

“We as Malays, as Muslims, if we show cruelty to Malays or to Hindus, such a Malay is not qualified to rule the country,”he told reporters today.

He added: “You can take that down, Utusan Malaysia.”

Anwar was on his way out of the KL court complex when he was asked to comment on the move by representatives of the Hindu Rights Action Front (Hindraf) in presenting a memorandum calling for the release of those detained under the ISA to the Prime Minister at his Hari Raya open house last week.

“The issue is not any protest by Hindraf. The issue is the cruel ISA. It is a gross injustice.

“Those detained under this cruel law must be released. I stand on that principle,” said Anwar.

He called for the immediate and unconditional release of the Hindraf five and Malaysia-Today news portal editor Raja Petra Kamarudin.

Asked what he thought of the speculation that Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi would not defend his Umno presidency, he said he did not believe a government or an Umno led by Datuk Seri Najib Razak would be any better.

He said he did not believe that BN would be able to garner more support or credibility under Najib.

“We are talking about a system tainted by corruption. It is important that we continue to call for reform and change,” he said.

He pointed out that regardless of Abdullah’s decision tomorrow, it would not impact Pakatan Rakyat’s plans and that the triparte opposition leaders were having another discussion on the matter later today.

Asked for an update on the Barisan Nasional lawmakers whom he had allegedly convinced to cross over, he said: “It is a non-issue. They have given me their support and have not reneged on the agreement.”

Anti Pura Pura, DSAI is not taking and has not taken a short cut. Rightfully he should have succeeded TDM. But luck was not on his side 4 years ago. Probably his luck is better now and he is moving forward. You cannot say that he has to wait. Wait for what? Time and tide waits for no man. Many young people have died even before their elders. There have been intelligent, smart and aspiring young men who have bypassed the age old tradition of waiting for their turn. There is an old Malay saying, ‘kecil jangan sangka anak, besar jangan sangka bapa.’ I hope you gather what I am saying.

    Asalamualaikum DSAI,

    Dear DSAI,

Why are you saying that is a non-issue when it is of immense interest to all malaysian. I guess you still have not make up with the lost time. Such an arrogant and irresponsible remark is a cheap and an obsolete excuse. Moreover, remember that it was you who had been telling us about the ‘crossover’ and naturally we want to know the update.

For me, if I expect a change in the government, I would expect a person who is responsible who gives humble, clear, sincere answers to his/her people. Not empty talk.

    Dear DSAI,

On another note, you should be more careful with your words,”Anwar says those who use ISA not fit to rule”. If I interpret it correctly what you meant was not only applies to malaysia but the world over. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Shobhan Reply:

Yes, it is correct. The use of ISA IS BARBARIC. ISA is use of brute force without trial. Any person that uses this form of punishment is not fit to rule. This is applicable to any part of the world where such unjust form of punishment is practised. No sane person with a civilised approach and a level head on the shoulders would want to use it on the citizenry. Let’s look at the developed world and compare it with the third world to understand what DSAI meant.

DSAI,fight you may, but can you change the mindset of those who are entrenched with cruel thoughts? A leopard cannot change its spots, so will those who are forever trying to keep power and resistant to change. We have no choice but to enforce our thoughts and ideas subtly and cleverly through grit, patience and perseverance. Best of luck and may God help you all the way through your struggles for a free and just nation!!

Shobhan….dream on! Do you think DSAI will sincerely help the people when he’s in power? You are too obsessed with him. I have a strong feeling that if he ever get the highest position in government, he will form an ISA-like doctrine and put people he doesn’t like in jail. It could be you!

BN component parties and their members are nothing but sheep herded by the PM. If the PM is like AAB, who isn’t an arm twister like TDM, he cannot control the herd and is considered a weak administrator. TDM was the right man and probably Najib the manipulator would be a better one with that fat baldy nincompoop SHA as his legal advisor. I think the new era of BN after AAB will see Kamunting filling to the brim and overflowing into other parts of Perak and Selangor, all PR controlled territories. Great days ahead for BN and more free hand in the use of the ISA!!!! LONG LIVE BN AND ITS HIGH HANDED WAYS!!!!

There is Nothing you can do but hold silent candle light vigls.. you think the government will release their iron grip on power???

Alot of Malaysians place emphasis on wealth being the priority in their lives..

Wealth is nothing without rights… just look at the Holocaust…..

Let me put the icing on the cake where the case of Hindraf is concerned. MIC supposedly to represent the Indian community is NOTHING BUT A FAKE!!! When Tuan Hadi Awang and DSAI gave their support to Hindraf, MIC started to hit out at the group stating that though MIC is trying to help in the release of the 5 detainees, it is going to be difficult now since the Hindraf group had violated certain conditions set by the ruling coalition. Isn’t this an irony? What did the Hindraf group violate? Did they create violence and chaos at the PWTC open house? Even Tuan Hadi Awang stated that they were using their democratic rights by pleading for the release of the 5 detainees under ISA. If PAS, DAP and PKR could voice out for the Hindraf’s legitimate request, why can’t MIC do something for the very people they represent? MIC should have taken this very situation to help these people NOT STATE OTHERWISE!!! Even that idiot, Dr Subra made derogratory remarks that have become setbacks for this unfortunate group. SO THESE SO CALLED REPRESENTATIVES ARE ONLY TAKING CARE OF THEIR OWN POCKETS NOTHING ELSE!!!THEY ARE NOTHING BUT REAL BLOODY POLITICIANS WITH NO HEART FOR THE PEOPLE!!!

I’m sure DSAI didn’t need a proxy to act on his behalf. Furthermore, no one is certainly on par with his ‘calibre’. Just take a hike my friend.

If DSAI is too busy to respond, how is he going to respond to his people when governing the whole nation. There is no other word that I could describe of him than pure arrogance.
