Speech by Anwar Ibrahim delivered at the CLSA Investor Forum in Hong Kong on Friday 26th September, 2008
What do you do when a financial behemoth implodes?
What can you say about free market capitalism when the world’s leading liberal democracy dumps nearly a trillion dollars in private debt onto taxpayers? Are Freddie Mac and Fannie May along with Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, and AIG totally unforeseen victims of systemic once in a lifetime financial meltdowns or are they not really victims of their own greed? When you allow the “mushrooming of weapons of financial mass destruction,” to borrow a phrase from Warren Buffet then isn’t it written that you shall reap what you sow?
The question is who should pay the price of Wall Street’s excesses. I learned in Economics 101 that those who live by the market must also die by the market. But with this gargantuan bailout it looks like the only thing that is dead is raw capitalism. Not that I’m complaining or that I ever subscribed to this thing called a totally free market. Some will recall that in my address in Bangkok last year I repeated my mantra that the free market is well and good but Adam Smith’s invisible hand may sometimes continue to be invisible if not altogether paralysed when the time for action draws nigh. Sometimes as it is in times like these, Uncle Sam’s hand may prove to be far quicker on the draw. Otherwise spontaneous order may well turn out to be spontaneous chaos.
Hayek is history, so they claimed.
Speaking of history, it would appear that the powers that be have learned some lessons. We know what happened in the 1930s when, adhering strictly to free market principles, the Federal Reserve folded its arms and did absolutely nothing even as the financial system was cracking under the weight of massive defaults that eventually caused the collapse of the American economy and the contagion spread to Europe. There would have been lessons learned too from the October 87 crash, and the savings and loans scandal. Then of course, there was the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
As for the latter, Asian countries having experienced the pains of the financial meltdown which saw their currencies plunging to the depths, are now having generally stronger balance sheets. Regardless whether or not they swallowed the bitter pill of IMF prescriptions, they now have better current accounts than they had ten years ago. But what exactly were the lessons learnt? Is it that we can snicker at the U.S. and tell ourselves that we don’t need to listen to you, because we are far better off now? Is it that we don’t need market economy and the related principles?
Why talk about the sanctity of free markets and the importance of non-interference by governments when the bastion of free market itself is now engaged in the biggest bail out exercise?
Some leaders are now gloating over their so called successes in resorting to bailouts even much earlier and retrospectively sanitising their remedies of capital controls and the policy of currency. This is a false premise. Bailouts cannot be used as a veneer for crony capitalism. It appears rather foolhardy for certain leaders in the region to start thumping their chests over their relatively wealthier positions and that they have strong fundamentals.
Are the fundamentals that strong?
To get the analogy of true strength let me relate some lines from Tu Fu (Du Foo) one of the greatest Chinese poets and contemporary of Confucius; also a well known sage of the Tang Dynasty:
And so firm is the deep root,
So established underground,
That its lone lofty boughs
Can dare the weight of winds,
Its only protection the Heavenly Power,
Its only endurance the art of its Creator
The convulsions that began the last summer arising from the subprime crisis have morphed into a full blown seizure the implications of which have left us still groping in the dark. Aggravated no doubt by record breaking inflationary pressure, the current crisis has reached such a level that the threat of a worldwide recession looms. The hysteria, irrational as it is, is real. We saw the run on the U.S. financial institutions and the consequences unleashed. And as we all know, even Hong Kong hasn’t been spared—this week two typhoons scored near misses on the city, one a torrent of rain that passed to the south, and the other entailed a long line of depositors lined up outside the Bank of East Asia. With emotions running tense, we could certainly benefit from a return to sanity.
Even though the locus of the slaughter is the United States, the bastion of free ‘market’ democracy, yet, in many ways the current upheaval bears some similarities to the Asian crisis. We would think that the lessons learnt from the Asian crisis, in particular the Asean region, could help us navigate the treacherous waters that we may be heading towards.
At the end of the day, we are looking at a credit fiasco gone haywire. Both concern loan defaults which trigger a chain of consequences ending in massive losses for financial institutions. Like the crisis in the Asean region, there are without a doubt serious issues of governance, transparency and accountability at stake.
As I said back in 1998 at a forum in New York chaired by Maurice Greenberg, who was the AIG chief, I had likened the Asian crisis to the sinking of the Titanic. (I am talking about the AIG then, the financial Rock of Gibraltar, solid and unshakable, not the fallen giant of today.) Prior to the meltdown, there was the euphoria among the Asian leaders about the so-called East Asian miracle and all skeptics were dismissed as naysayers and those calling for fiscal restraint, including myself, were branded as doomsday prophets. Then the crash came. But the question is who the real victims were. Undoubtedly they were the ordinary people while cronies and family members of political leaders were given the life boats and the first to be bailed out.
In this regard, social justice must remain one of the main purposes of government. The proponents of free market may not want to admit it let alone utter the dirty word because the mantra is that state intervention should be avoided like the plague. But it is once again all too apparent that, left unchecked and unregulated, the consequence of markets running amok is not just gross inequalities of income distribution but systemic failure altogether.
We are looking at foundational weaknesses. Apart from the obvious issue of risks management, I believe that the global financial architecture and the institutions need structural reform. Make no mistake. We are not here to advocate command economies of the Orwellian kind but we can no longer be in a state of denial as to efficacy of a common sense approach to managing the economy. This is also very much in line with the demands of social cohesion and political stability.
Though we believe in a well-regulated market, where contracts should be honoured and the principles of fair dealing applied, we also know that a heavily-regulated market, coupled with highly opaque government operations cripples the economy and discourages investment. And it would be a grave error to think that governments have a duty to bail out badly run institutions and companies. Moral hazard cannot be simply dismissed as just another Bretton Woods construct. Among the most important lessons appears to be if you keep on spending money which is not yours, sooner or later it will take its toll.
In this regard, we view with great consternation the path that Malaysia has been taking in the last five years. Public-sector spending rose to RM200 billion annually from RM160 billion in 2004. That of course doesn’t include the slush funds in excess of RM30 billion used at the discretion of the Prime Minister. The national debt has gone up by another RM100 billion and as more money is being spent, the fiscal deficit has risen to 4.8% of GDP this year.
With capital flight at a record high since the 1997 crisis, RM125 million in 2008 already, Malaysian investment abroad now exceeds inward foreign investment. We are facing a double barrel onslaught of our own doing with the Ringgit hitting all time lows since 2005 and inflation a record high of 8.5%, the worst in 27 years.
Issues of governance and corruption are yet unresolved. The latest corruption perception index from Transparency International speaks for itself. In almost a decade Malaysia has hardly improved its position in the ranking while our would-be peers are making substantial improvements.
Our agenda for Malaysia is clear. Revive the lagging economy by adopting market friendly policies and take decisive action to cure the festering sore of corruption and cronyism that has decimated the judiciary, rendered the anti-corruption impotent and leeched billions of dollars from the state coffers – by Morgan Stanley’s account in the amount of at least $10 billion per year. Restore faith in the institutions of governance both domestically and internationally so that investors will once again find the country an attractive destination for their long-term investments. Among other things, this means strict adherence to the rule of law and an immediate end to draconian statutes that would allow the powers that be to detain their adversaries willy-nilly and without due process.
The issue of regime change is central to the current political scenario. The ability to handle a transition is a measure of the strength of the country’s democratic institutions. It can, and ought to be done, peacefully and orderly. Stability cannot be sacrificed on the altar of freedom no matter how intense the desire for change has become.
Weathering the storm of its own internal strife, it is apparent that populist spending is the easy way out for governments hell bent on clinging to power. On the contrary we would introduce structural reforms in public procurement programmes and the management of State companies while ensuring that adequate social safety nets are in place.
With the political will to combat corruption, wastage and mismanagement an 8% per annum growth rate is not unrealistic. Petronas should be made accountable to Parliament and not remain the private piggy-bank of the Executive Branch. We will remove restrictions on foreign capital inflows and outflows and revamp government protection of monopolies in industries like telecommunications and banking.
If our markets are strong and unfettered, and if our laws are transparent and enforced by impartial judges, we will not need special development corridors or regions to attract investment. A stable and clean business environment is far more important than special tax breaks and quotas handed out by a corrupt and opaque government.
With compassionate policies in place, the rifts caused by unequal development will finally begin to heal. Just as importantly, poor bumiputeras will finally be able to access economic aid that trickles all the way down instead of disappearing long before it reaches them.
The central principle of these economic policies is that the right opportunities must be made available to every single Malaysian –to learn, to earn an honest living, and to realise their dreams.
Ladies and gentlemen,
When the Asian Crisis struck ten years ago, the decisions I made as Finance Minister were not populist nor were they popular. On principle, I felt they were the right moves even though it was at the expense of my personal freedom. Yet in my darkest hours of solitary confinement I had never given up hope that something good was to come of the ordeal. And now after more than a decade of struggle and profound challenges we are on the threshold of a new beginning.

Saudara- Saudari sekelian,
Pertukaran kerjaan perlu berlaku dalam keadaan yang tenang dan bijaksana. Saya juga tidak sabar menanti kerajaan baru Pakatan Rakyat, tetapi saya akur dengan tindakan hemat yang di ambil oleh para pemimpin PR. Mereka harus berhati-hati kerana Kerajaan Sekarang tidak gentleman. Kalau gopoh, mereka kerajaan BN senang sahaja mengambil tindakan menggunakan ISA, maka nanti kita akan ada kerajaan in exile lak.
Oleh itu, saya syorkan kepada semua pejuang pejuang reformasi tua dan muda untuk terus bersabar, berdoa, berusaha, beristiqomqh dan bertawwakal agar hari yang kita impikan iaitu hari PR menjadi kerajaan akan muncul dan unggul dari kerajaan BN yang ada sekarang.

I personally think DSAi should comeback to earth from his galaxy. Your keynotes address is nothing new sir! We can plug fancy facts and figures from CNN, BBC or Bloomberg. Or even from Al Jazeera for that matter. Is this also a part of your strategy to win the PEOPLE heart by making them learned that you are ‘well accepted’ and ‘recognized’ internationally?
Reading through, I failed to see any measure or plan to counter react to the global economy as our force and shield to ensures the people survival.
DSAi talked so much about Cronyism and Corruption need to be eliminated as step to strengthen economy and regain foreign investors trust to further invest in Malaysia. Where is the fact backing up this argument? Is this the real reason why foreign investors fled in 1997? Or the China open economy policy and foreign industries encouragement that adapted cheap labor and cost saving policies?
Where is DSAI stand on ASEAN economic revivals and bounce back to the World Economic Crisis?
What is Malaysia (or PR) micro economy plan in synchronizing to other ASEAN countries?
What is DSAI plan to enhance layers of economic ties between ASEAN countries?
Do you think by revealing issues and the so called ‘demon doing’ of present government will woe foreign investors?
We have so much more to address not just economy (even in the economic arena). Aspects like social and moral values, inter ASEAN relations policies, integration and so fourth.

Your accusation is far from accurate Sir! Our existing policies are compassionate enough and is in place. Your so called ‘unequal development’ is a point blank and subjective. The ‘poor bumiputras’ you mentioned is an ‘ugly note’ portraying that the bumiputeras namely Melayu, Iban, Kadzan and Orang Asli so hardcore sucking up to the government for the betterment. Is that the real scenario? Where is your fact to back your statement?
My personal view, (mind me, I am not a BN or an UMNO or even a PR), I think you have failed to address a real issue in your keynotes SIR. Come back to earth…..not everything the present government practice is bad….some need to be credited and acknowledged as well.

Sebenarnya, kalau nak fikirkan apalah yang China ada sangat selain daripada infrastruktur dan tenaga yang murah? M’sia ada infrastruktur, free economic zone, teknologi, berbilang kaum, berpengalaman, berbahasa inggeris, dan banyak lagi… tapi kenapa pelabur lari??
Puncanya, ialah malaysia sudah kehilangan kompetetifness… itu semua pakar ekonomi tahu. Apa yang kau nak cakap tu semua orang tahu, china lebih murah – vietnam lebih murah, dan sebagainya…. tapi negara china ada corruption – cuma disebabkan murah, pelabur sanggup lagi nak datang. Malaysia ni, dah le mahal – corrupt lak tu…. habis? Siapa nak datang?? Kalau mahal dan tidak corrupt mcm singapore ke…. ok la jugak. Hempeh punya orangla kau nih!!

Look at the middle ring road 2 issues, who’s the culprit?????? Look at Sabah’s increasing number of immigrants, who’s to blame? Mr Yoda, you have a point, I do agree with you that there was no technical solution whatsoever could be find from the speech. As I went through DSAI speech, I came to realized that what should be extracted does not mean it could be materialized in a direct way, you need to dig and deeper, what have been told is in general, the idea, the concept, the plan, to make it work and run we need collective work, the pool of expertise and all, can you see that….. it is a long long way to go, but it is worth an effort, wouldn’t you say…

the current situation is m’sia is worrying. yesterday we see outflow of FDI is RM29 billion and inflow is only RM26 billion. there are no point to attract more if we cant retain what we have as for the foreign to be come operative, it will take some time. As such what will happen to our workers. It is from bad to worse. This country need new leadership and Dato Seri take Putrajaya NOW. The economy of this country cant wait any longer.

No doubt there are illustrious names of modern Ulama who are giving free hand for Muslim Bankers and Financiers to do almost everytthing what the “others” are doing. Yes, indeed, simply by giving some Arabic terms to it.
Most of the time, the Syariah Board beign PAID by the Banks, will simply use Syariah to comply with modern financial transactions whose basis is still the “fiat money” which is NOT true property and possessing intrinsic value …..just some nominal value called Ringgit .
Your experience in finance and meeting IMF, World Bank, all the big Financial Houses of the world will have told you to reflect deeply and mediate for answers from God Almighty.
Think about it and go to the mountains, or perhaps, we bring the mountains to you.

I’m not a muslim but for me Asri view is totally not an extremist view.
Minggu lalu penulis menulis bahawa janji membentuk kerajaan baru oleh Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sebagai janji tidak masuk akal. Penulis juga menulis, “Tunggulah 16 September untuk anda mendengar pelbagai pula alasan Anwar Ibrahim. Sesumpah selalu bertukar warna kulit.”
Hari ini terbukti dan ternyata ia berlaku. Sesumpah atau Pokka bernama Anwar ini menukar lagi wajah, rupa dan qona (warna)nya.
Sudah sah Anwar pembohong. Janji untuk membentuk kerajaan pada 16 September 2008 hanya tinggal dalam lipatan sejarah berkajang-kajang senarai pembohongan Anwar bin Ibrahim.
Pada 16 September beliau menghantar surat kepada Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi untuk mengadakan pertemuan dan mengaturkan peralihan kuasa kepada beliau. Apakah ini tindakan orang yang waras?
Beliau dakwa ada lebih 30 orang ahli Parlimen BN tetapi enggan mengumumkan nama mereka. Waraskah manusia bernama Anwar Ibrahim ini?
Beliau mahu Pak Lah menyerah kuasa hanya kerana beliau dakwa ada 30 orang ahli Parlimen BN menyertai Pakatan Rakyat?
Hari ini beliau mendesak kerajaan mengadakan sidang khas Parlimen pada 23 September pula. Beliau mahu mengadakan undi tidak percaya terhadap kerajaan.
Sekali lagi kita mahu bertanya, waraskah manusia bernama Anwar ini?
Atas sebab apa dan bukti apa beliau mahu mengadakan sidang khas Parlimen?
Undang-undang dan Peraturan Dewan Rakyat yang mana beliau gunakan untuk mengadakan satu usul khas sidang parlimen bagi mengadakan undi tidak percaya terhadap PM dalam tempoh kurang dari 14 hari?
Ketika beliau mendakwa telah ada 30-40 orang ahli parlimen BN yang akan melompat, Anwar tetap menghantar pemimpin PKR untuk bertemu dan memujuk ahli Parlimen BN yang berada di taiwan.
Soalnya jika sudah ada mengapa perlu pujuk yang lain lagi? Bukankah gila namanya?
Namun Anwar Ibrahim memang mempesonakan. Lebih mempesonakan, ada orang masih percaya kepada Anwar walaupun sudah banyak kali tertipu.
Misalnya terdapat sebahagian pemimpin Pas masih percaya kata-kata Anwar walaupun mereka sendiri tidak tahu siapa yang berjanji untuk melompat.
Mereka sanggup membohongi penyokong sendiri kononnya nama-nama YB ini dibincang dalam Mesyuarat Tertinggi parti tersebut. Hakikatnya hanya angka yang diberi kepada mereka.
Soalnya siapa yang tidak waras, Anwar atau orang yang mempercayainya?

pengail, jangan hanya bercakap melulu tanpa berfikir. Orang yg mentah dlm mengkaji senario politik biasanya tidak dapat memahami strategi politik yg cuba dilakukan oleh Anwar.
Cuba fikirkan, apa faedahnya Anwar menipu bahawa akan ada 30-40 orang ahli parlimen BN akan menyerati Pakatan Rakyat. Apa faedahnya? Apa faedahnya? Saya tertanya-tanya adakah saudara yg sebenarnya kurang waras kerana menganggap seorang pemimpin yg sangat berpengaruh dan berpengalaman boleh melakukan kerja bodoh dan menghapuskan kariernya sendiri dgn menipu bahawa 30-40 ahli parlimen BN akan menyertai PKR.
Sebenarnya nama 30-40 ahli parlimen BN itu boleh didedahkan bila-bila masa tetapi Anwar sebenarnya cuba menambahkan nombor itu dgn ahli parlimen BN berbangsa Melayu kerana jika hanya 30-40 MP itu menyertai Pakatan Rakyat, MP Melayu tidak mempunyai majoriti di dalam parlimen dan Anwar akan diasak keras oleh UMNO. Itulah sebabnya Anwar kelihatan sgt bersabar dan perkara ini tidak difahami oleh pemerhati politik yg mentah..biasanya mereka yg berbangsa Melayu kerana dalam pemerhatian saya, bangsa Cina lebih matang dalam memerhatikan senario politik negara, tetapi bangsa Melayu kebanyakannya ‘berfikir melulu’ dan tidak berfikir lebih drpd apa yg dilaporkan oleh media arus perdana. Contohnya saudara pengail yg menuduh melulu dan terlalu emosional.
Saya masih ingat kata-kata Anwar, jika kerajaan baru tak ditubuhkan 31 Ogos, mungkin pada September…jika tidak September, Oktober, jika tidakpun November etc. Media kerajaan sengaja tidak melaporkan kata-kata Anwar itu, sebaliknya melaporkan bahawa Anwar berjanji 100% bahawa kerajaan baru AKAN ditubuhkan pada 16 September. Jadi Anwar kelihatan seperti sudah gagal apabila Malaysia masih tidak bertukar kerajaan pada 16 September. Hakikatnya Anwar sudah mampu menjatuhkan kerajaan BN tetapi beliau menunggu ‘waktu yg sesuai’, iaitu waktu beliau mendapat nombor yg betul2 cukup utk memberi Pakatan Rakyat DAN ahli parlimen Melayu majoriti dalam parlimen.
Bak kata kebanyakan pemerhati politik, Anwar adalah ahli politik yg hebat. Beliau sentiasa 4-5 langkah di hadapan kita dan tiada siapa dapat menjangka strategi dan fikirannya. Kebanyakan golongan muda yg menyokong UMNO merasakan dirinya bijak dan menghentam Anwar, tapi sebenarnya langkah Anwar sudah jauh ke depan dan akhirnya Anwar juga yg naik, ‘penghentam’ Anwar ini juga yg tewas dan malu.
Jawapannya siapa yang tidak waras, penyokong UMNO.

Jadi kenapa masih percaya kewujudan Nya. Jawapanya, sebab hati kita percaya walaupun mata kita tak melihat Nya.
Kesimpulan nya, mereka yg melihat dengan mata hati akan tahu mana yg benar dan mana yg tidak, berbanding dgn mereka yg hanya melihat dgn mata kasar.

DSAI Diberi Kepercayaan Oleh Dunia

Tidak kira dari parti mana DSAI datang, paling membanggakan rakyat Malaysia bahawa DSAI seorang anak watan Malaysia diberi penghormatan dan kepercayaan menyampaikan ucapannya di-CLSA Investor Forum di Hong Kong baru baru ini.
Seorang pemimpin politik Malaysia yang dianggap oleh dunia berwibawa dan berketrampilan, DSAI dijemput dalam forum ekonomi dan pelaburan dunia. Malaysia patut berbangga dengan kebolehan DSAI yang di iktiraf oleh dunia.
Biasa lah tu, segelintir pemimpin Malaysia, tentunya tidak senang hati, kenapa penghargaan sebegitu di beri kepada DSAI, tidak kepada pemimpin pemimpin UMNO. Kepakaran DSAI dalam berpolitik pun ada segelintir manusia yang iri hati, padahal idea DSAI menguntungkan kepada rakyat Malaysia.
Begitu pun DSAI dipercayai oleh rakyat Malaysia, hingga PRU12 jelas rakyat sudah beralih pandang dengan kepimpinan DSAI, lebih lebih lagi, kerja kuat beliau bersama sama pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat, hingga 5 Negeri jatuh kepangkuan PR, namun DSAI dan PR terus diperselekehkan dan beliau terima berbagai bagai tekanan berganti ganti.
Dulu, baru pun sampai 100 hari usia Pakatan Rakyat memerintah 5 buah Negeri di Malaysia, dari tarikh 8hb. Mac 2008. Pemimpin pemimpin UMNO sudah mula menuding jari kepada Kerajaan Negeri PR, bahawa kepimpinan PR tidak sehebat BN menangani semua permasalahan rakyat. Mereka mula confiden bahawa Pakatan sudah layu, kononnya rakyat sudah muak dengan pemerintahan Pakatan yang tidak ada berdaya saing dengan BN. Berbagai andaian dilemparkan kepada PR bahawa rakyat sudah hilang keyakinan kepada pemerintahan Pakatan Rakyat.
Arus perdana media electronic dan media cetak digunakan oleh BN/UMNO hampir tiap hari menyiarkan berita sensasi pasal kandang ba*bi di Selangor, rasuah hadiah 100 hari PR memerintah Selangor, pasal penurunan bil air dll. Seterusnya kisah lucu Saiful dirogol, DSAI ditangkap polis, Saiful bersumpah dengan Al-Qur’an dan BPR serbu dua orang Exco Perak dengan rasuah sex ahli PKR. Macam macam lagi usaha UMNO untuk discreditkan kewibawaan Pakatan Pakyat agar rakyat terpengaruh propaganda tersebut.
To evaluate PR capability, sama ada berkesan atau tidak, propaganda UMNO itu terhadap Pakatan Rakyat, Dato Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Ismail, Presiden PKR letak jawatan sebagai Wakil Rakyat Permatang Pauh, lalu diadakan pilihanraya kecil. Kemenangan DSAI dengan majoriti Cemerlang Gemilang Terbilang. (pinjam ayat Pak Lah sekejap) Satu pukulan knock out PR berikan kepada UMNO lalu Najib keluarkan “fatwa songsang” menyatakan, “Kami sudah jangka dari awal lagi, DSAI akan menang dikubu kuatnya sendiri.”
Kalau UMNO sudah jangka dari awal DSAI akan menang, kenapa UMNO bazirkan wang, nak lawan juga?
Tidak lah keterlaluan, kalau DSAI saya gelarkan sebagai Sifu Politik Tanah Air, yang Cemerlang Gemilang dan Terbilang, sekalipun Pak Lah dan Timbalannya Najib turun padang, berkempen berhabis habisan untuk mengalahkan DSAI, namun mojoriti yang DSAI perolehi seolah olah memberikan satu notice kepada Pak Lah bahawa bersara lah cepat cepat, kerana sudah ada tanda tanda PR nak ganti bela rakyat pula.

kehebatan biasanya dikaitkan dengan teori dan amalinya…….pandangan, dasar dan strategi ekonomi “aliran anwar”….belum dibuktikan dimana-mana secara praktikalnya………semuanya tak lebih dari retoriknya……
Siapa pula yang mengitiraf anwar sebagai orang yang hebat sekali pemikiran ekonominya…sedangkan faktanya…dia tidak empunyai latarbelakang ekonomi pun….hehehehehe
Kita kena faham….anwar punya pasukan polobinya sendiri….yang akan melobi dengan berbagai cara utk memastikan anwar dipanggil utk berucap dalam mana-mana seminar antarabangsa……ini strategi politik anwar……dan kerja melobi ini sudah pasti akan memakan belanja yang bukan sedikit….anwarbanyak belajar mengenai kedah melobi ini dari sistem politik amerika……..
Kepada kita…anwar cuma sekadar….tukan baca teks……..sama seperti halik zaman….membaca teks orang lain….kedengaran hebat tetapi sebenarnya “kosong dan retorik”………………..

TAKSUB BETUL DATO DENGAN DSAI…..
Tapi malangnya percaturan politik DSAI seakan tidak menjadi. Saya hampir terpangaruh dan taksub seperti dato sendiri tapi alhamdulillah sempat sedar dan balik ke pangkal jalan walaupun bukan dengan kerajaan sekarang.
Kekeciwaan terserlah dengan kata kata dan mainan DSAI dari satu tarikh ke satu tarikh tapi malangnya kesahihannya adalah untuk menyedapkan cerita dongeng pakatan rakyat untuk ambik alih kuasa hakikatnya adalah untuk menambahkan penyokong sedangkan habuk pun tiada.
Insaflah rakan pakatan sekelian……PERALIHAN KIASA TIDAK AKAN MENJADI (MUSTAHIL).

Apa yang boleh di harapkan dari si Najib tuh?…. semua orang UMNO pun tahu bila Najib jadi PM, si Rosmah itu lah yang akan jadi “invisible hand” yang akan menentukan dasar dan hala tuju Malaysia…. Tak caya? Baik ko tanya KM Sabah kau sekarang nih….
Semua manusia ada baik dan buruknya. Yang pasti, kita yang jadi rakyat ni mesti pandai memilih yang terbaik di antara mereka. Pada aku, 51 tahun merdekanya Malaysia, tak dak apa yang boleh aku banggakan…
Kalu ko nak berbangga dan nak bercakap tentang pembangunan fizikal Malaysia ketika ini, itu sudah jadi tanggungjawab kerajaan untuk memastikan pembangunan di negara mereka memerintah.
Sekarang ni pun, Malaysia masih tak kemana dalam World Competitiveness Ranking dan Transparency International Ranking. Jadi pada aku, biar kita tukar kerajaan BN sekarang kepada kerajaan PR. Jika tidak hari ini, esok, minggu depan atau bulan depan dan kalau tidak juga…. kita tukar pada PRU yang akan datang.

Sudah bertahun lamanya, KAPITALIS dijangka terlungkup. bunga-bunganya sudah terbukti sejak dua dan tiga tahun lepas dan terkini. AMERICAN DREAM dah runtuh. begitu juga dengan US Dollar. Saya bukan pakar ekonomi, tetapi kerajaan sekarang amat mendukungi sistem ini yang berpandangan bahwa kebolehan manusia tidak terbatas. atas sebab itu kita lihat “kebolehan” mereka memiliki dan melakukan segala benda tidak terbatas. KAF, FNF & American Jewish Committee (AJC)
Kalau di Malaysia, Anwar dan PKR lebih menonjolkan penaja-penajanya dari yayasan luar negara. Antaranya yang paling popular Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF) dan Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) yang kedua-duanya berasal dari Jerman.
Dalam bahasa Jerman, yayasan dipanggil ‘Stiftung’, sebab itu kadangkala, KAF turut dikenali sebagai ‘Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’ (KAS). Begitu juga dengan FNF dikenali sebagai ‘Friedrich Naumann Stiftung’(FNS).
Sama ada Foundation atau Stiftung, kedua-dua yayasan ini merupakan think tank parti di Jerman menawarkan penajaan di seluruh dunia sebagai mematuhi perjanjian damai antara Israel dengan Jerman.
Kumpulan Israel paling berpengaruh berada di Amerika yang dikenali sebagai American Jewish Committee (AJC).
Dalam perjanjian itu, kerajaan Jerman bersetuju menubuhkan yayasan seperti KAF & FNF sebagai ‘menebus dosa’ pembunuhan beramai-ramai orang-orang Yahudi semasa pemerintahan Nazi,atau dikenali sebagai ‘holocaust’.
Bermakna munculnya yayasan ini sebagai pampasan pembunuhan Yahudi yang sudah berkurun lamanya. Menurut yahudi dengan adanya yayasan-yayasan ini ke seluruh dunia, sekurang-kurang kematian ‘holocaust’itu tertebus.
Di Malaysia, KAF sering menaja badan pemikir Anwar yang dikenali sebagai Institut kajian Dasar (IKD) dan Middle Eastern Graduate Center (MEGC).
Penajaannya dalam bentuk pembiayaan program dan penerbitan buku khususnya berkenaan mengembangkan usaha Pluralisme Agama (Persamaan antara agama) di Malaysia. Pluralisme ini adalah asas kepada Interfaith Council atau Interfaith Commission atau ringkasnya IFC yang menjadi ancaman kepada Islam di Malaysia.
Walaupun bekas Setiausaha Akhbar Anwar, Khalid Jaafar, yang juga pengarah IKD menamakan projek kerjasama antara IKD & KAF sebagai ‘Islam Tanwiri’, tetapi bau hamis ‘pluralisme’ dan ‘IFC’, masih belum dapat ditimbus.

Saya rasa kebanyakan buku motivasi yang pernah dibaca juga mengungkapkan idea kumpulan Bilderberg misalnya tokoh utama mereka lalu saya tidak faham pertikaian gagasan pemikiran yang mahu ditolak penyaluran maklumat untuk dianalisakan seperti yang Tuan/Puan Sesumpah sebutkan.
Kenyataan yang Tuan/Puan luahkan adalah kesan dari ketiadaan organisasi/institiut pemikiran muslimin yang tidak berdikari untuk dijadikan sumber rujukan kepada pembinaan prinsip keadilan perundangan yang bersumber dari kebenaran (Al-Quran yang syumul penggunaan syariatnya).
Tidak keterlaluan jika DSAI bertindak memperhalusi hubungan kerjasama yang membawa kepada pemahaman punca kekeliruan terhadap Islam dibenarkan berlaku selama ini.
Apakah yang ada di sebalik kenyataan Tuan/Puan Sesumpah jika bukan mengaitkan kempen pemilihan kepimpinan di Amerika? Misal berasas kepada penggunaan maklumat di internet, kebanyakan warga menyedari pemantaun yang dilakukan oleh kerajaan.

Begitu juga di malaysia Yayasan Melaka, Yayasan Pahang, Yayasan Serawak dan Yayasan Sabah semua yayasan ini ditubuhkan oleh UMNO untuk menebus dosa mereka dengan menberi biasiswa kepada anak anak negeri untuk belajar mereka(UMNO) berasa mereka cukup berdosa kepada orang melayu sejak dulu kini dan selamanya untuk menebus dosa mereka yang di lakukan secara tiada notah. sebagai menebus dosa pembunahan beramai ramai orang melayu dalam isu Mamali dan Isu baling,Sebagai panpasan UMNO menubuhkan yayasan di setiap negeri untuk penebusan dosa dosa silam UMNO kepada orang melayu, UMNO juga menubuhkan apa yang dipangil BIRO Angkasa sebagai Induk koperasi diNegara ini dari biro ini juga UMNO dengan niat untuk menebus dosa mereka kepada orang melayu.Walau pun pengasas Biro Angkasa Prof Diraja Engku Aziz yang juga Pengasas LUTH semua ini adalah cara UMNO untuk penebusan dosa UMNO. Secara keseluruhannya saya bersetuju dengan ucapan Datuk Seri – berimbang dan bernuansa. Cuma keseimbangan itu digugat oleh satu ayat. “Hayek, if I may say so, is history.” Krisis kewangan yang melanda di Amerika sekarang ini sebenarnya memberikan satu bukti emperis kepada satu aspek pemikiran Hayek – meskipun kita hidup dizaman ledakan maklumat sebenarnya kita tetap jahil dan tidak tahu. Ketika menerima Hadiah Nobel dalam tahun 1974 Hayek memberikan pidato bertajuk “The Pretense of Knowledge.” Beliau mengkritik tajam terhadap ahli-ahli ekonomi yang berbangga dengan kemajuan disiplin ekonomi dan begitu yakin boleh melaksanakan economic engineering. Bagi Hayek dunia terlalu kompleks dan ilmu manusia terhadapnya hanya bersifat kwalitatif dan bersifat anggaran.
Sistem Rizab Federal (Fed) ditubuhkan di Amerika untuk mengelakan panik seperti sekarang. Namun panik dan krisis seperti ini berlaku jua meskipun maklumat dan statis bertambah. Tidak ada institusi di Amerika yang memilik maklumat ekonomi seperti Fed. Berdasarkan maklumat tersebut Fed manjalankan dasar monetarinya — menaik dan menurunkan kadar faedah — dengan yakin.
Alan Greenspan dalam memoirnya “The Age of Turbulence” menceritakan bagaimana Fed digesa menaikan kadar faedah kerana pertumbuhan ekonomi telah melebihi 4 peratus untuk mengelakan ancaman inflasi. Greenspan melihat semua data ada dan berpendapat bahawa pertumbuhan yang yang tinggi tersebut adalah hasil dari pertumbuhan sebenar yang dijana oleh revolusi maklumat dan teknologi.
Fed tidak dapat mengesan pertumbuhan ekonomi yang tinggi dan kemakmuran merata diera Clinton membawa masalah baru. Pendapatan yang meningkat menyebabkan nafsu memiliki rumah meningkat. Siapa yang tidak mahu memiliki rumah? Pinjaman untuk perumahan meningkat termasuk yang membuat pinjaman adalah mereka yang tidak mempunyai cagaran dan tidak mempunyai pendapatan yang mencukupi untuk membayar ansuran. Kenapa Fed tidak mengesan gejala ini? Di masa akan datang akan ada gejala baru yang tidak dapat dikesan oleh Fed yang menjadi bibit krisis. Justeru itu kewujudan Fed itu sendiri tidak boleh menjadikan kita tidak boleh melepaskan tanggungjawab peribadi untuk berhemat. Fed memberikan ilusi bahawa ia tahu segala-galanya.
Krisis sebesar ini tentu memerlukan tindakan luar biasa. Ianya tidak bermakna talkin kepada kapitalisme terbuka. Ia laksana perang. Dalam Perang Saudara di Amerika Lincoln menggantungkan Habean Corpus. Apakah Habeas Corpus tidak relevan lagi? Tidak, selepas perang tamat Habeas Corpus dilaksanakan semula.
Keynes pernah menulis satu rencana yang berpengaruh bertajuk “The End of Laissez Faire.” Tetapi jelas kemudian nyawa kapitalisme adalah lebih panjang dari hayat Keynes.

The notion of consigning Hayek to the dustbin of history is Mozart to my ears. For too long, the world has been subjected to the mantra of unbridled free market economics, a theory so sacralised by the Washington Consensus that any dissent no matter how subtle is viewed not just as intellectual blasphemy but as a full frontal assault on the rights of man. For decades ever since the so-called victory of Hayek’s over the Keynesian school (as aptly illustrated by you in the supposed vindication arising from the break-up of the Soviet empire), the world has been force-fed a prescription of social division and impoverisation, administered by Hayekian Nobel laureates such as Milton Friedman and his gang of Chicago Mafioso’s. By trumpeting the sound bites of “Capitalism and Freedom”, they rammed their strictures on free market economy down the throats of developing countries on the rationale that they would maximize freedom and prosperity. Ironically, no European democracy adopted them. Dictatorships, banana republics, and sham democracies did.
Who would have guessed that these formulations found their greatest admirer in Malaysia in the person of Dr Mahathir? Applying them with a zeal that could not be even surpassed by the Taliban in enforcing their medieval interpretations of the Quran, Mahathir bulldozed his 2020 vision on Malaysians with the catch all free market formula of privatization, deregulation and massive cuts on welfare spending. (For easy recall, just think of Telekom, Tenaga, Bakun, Indah Water, Hospital, solid waste disposal etc)
When Anwar Ibrahim, a closet Keynesian (until of course the unveiling of the new Malaysian Economic Agenda where his Keynesian roots and propensities became full blown for all to see which is a good thing) tried to smuggle essentially anti-Hayekian programs (such as workers protection, pump priming strategies, social justice instruments etc) Mahathir saw it as part of the conspiracy to topple him and expose his crony capitalism economics.
Look, Hayek is dead and if not, he ought to be given his last rights. In America, Obama talks of the divide between the people and corporate America. In Malaysia, Anwar talks of the clash between crony capitalism and the rakyat. The resemblance is uncanny but what it means is that free market and the invisible hand is but a mere construct for greed and corruption under the guise of deregulation to promote business growth, privatising public businesses that make money, and, tax cuts at the expense of welfare spending. Spontaneous order means governments must not intervene either to save industries or the people because the invisible hand operating with clockwork precision via market forces would set things right (Economics 101 – price theory and Milton Friedman’s monetarist doctrine.)
Anwar Ibrahim is spot on here. He has talked about the New Deal. With Hayek, it will be No Deal. See what unbridled Hayekian frenzy has done to America: the South Sea Bubble is now morphed into the Subprime Bubble thanks to the Federal Reserve sleeping on the job. With all due respect, Greenspan is the last person to quote here for in many ways he is the architect of the current fiasco leaving poor Ben Bernanke to pick up the pieces.
True, if Anwar had uttered those sacrilegious words ten years ago, it would have spelt immediate damnation as a reactionary unworthy of our admiration. But now the chickens have come home to roost. The Republicans are eating humble pie. McCain is scurrying for cover while Obama is going for the jugular. Democrats, if you don’t win this time, you never will.
Anwar has also made it clear in his speech that he is not advocating command economies of the Orwellian kind and obviously this is a reference to the Soviet totalitarian state that is not just the nightmare of Hayek but to all freedom loving people including yours truly.
The real business of government is to strike a balance between regulation and rationality which is nothing more than common sense economics administered with accountability, transparency and good governance. It is here that America must be put to the test again in the current turmoil and the efforts to bring about a comprehensive solution. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when I read that Md Nor Yaakop is now gloating over Mahathir’s bail out measures in the wake of the Asian financial crisis. He had to sack Anwar first and bundle him into prison. Let us not forget: When the chips were down, Mahathir imposed capital controls and the dollar peg to ensure that family members would be bailed out first with no significant drop in monetary value arising from devaluation. How can you thump your chest over such scandalous acts? (Granted, Mahathir was not the first to resort to this kind of national rip off. Boris Yeltsin beat him to it ten or so years earlier.) Today, Malaysia’s economy is still in the tank. And going by the latest budget proposals with such humongous deficits in spending, it is obvious that the powers that be have not learnt any lessons yet.

All in all, it is a wonderful speech packed with knowledge, filled with insights and crowded with clear perceptions. Those who fail to understand are those who fail to comprehend the thinking mind. Compare your above keynote address on the financial and in respect of Malaysia’s situation with Tun Mahathir’s topic entitled “Pegging” dated 25th September 2008 (chedet.com) which proposes some real brilliant yet specific “out of box” and unorthodox suggestions in facing the looming financial turmoil.
Your keynote speech seems too general, predictive and a pure subscribtion of the Wall Street and IMF failed economic policies. Your remarks on Malaysia’s situation is very politically motivated with self agenda.

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 Sept (Hrkh) – Pihak polis menghalang satu perhimpunan aman tengah hari tadi, yang menuntut agar Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA) dihapuskan, sambil menggesa agar semua tahanan ISA dibebaskan menjelang hari raya. Iklan
Perhimpunan anjuran Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA (GMI) diadakan berdekatan stesen LRT Masjid Jamek, dekat sini.
Mereka turut mengedarkan risalah kepada orang ramai yang melalui kawasan tersebut bertujuan untuk menyedarkan orang awam tentang akta zalim dan ketinggalan zaman ini.
Belum sempat aktivis GMI yang diketuai oleh Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh berkumpul, ASP Sydney Clyde Jeremiah yang mengetuai pasukan polis telah memberi amaran kepada koordinator GMI, E Nalini agar tidak menggunakan pembesar suara dan plakad.
Bagaimanapun, aktivis GMI tetap berhimpun dan merentangkan banner di seberang jalan Masjid Jamek. Ia hanya mampu bertahan selama kurang dari lima minit sebelum polis merampas banner dan plakad.
Selepas banner dan plakad dirampas, Presiden GMI, Syed Ibrahim telah membacakan kenyataan media yang mengutuk kerajaan menggunakan ISA untuk menahan individu tanpa bicara.
Syed Ibrahim berkata, tuntutan Hari Raya GMI adalah untuk membebaskan kesemua 66 tahanan ISA dengan segera.
“Selama enam atau tujuh tahun, keluarga mereka menyambut Ramadan dan Syawal tanpa kehadiran suami, bapa atau anak,” kata beliau.
Beliau turut menjelaskan bahawa ahli keluarga tahanan ISA ini telah kehilangan tempat bergantung dalam keadaan kos hidup yang semakin melangit.
“Mereka ini juga terpaksa membayar tiket bas dengan harga yang mahal untuk ke Kamunting yang memakan masa lebih dari tiga jam tetapi mereka cuma dibenarkan bertemu disebalik cermin dalam tempoh 45 minit sahaja,” kata Syed Ibrahim.
Syed Ibrahim membaca kenyataan media itu selama lima minit dan menyudahkannya setelah polis mengeluarkan amaran terakhir. Tiada sebarang tangkapan dilakukan biarpun terdapat beberapa seorang anggota polis wanita berkelakuan lelaki cuba melakukan provokasi terhadap aktivis GMI.
Demonstrasi kecil ini berjaya menarik perhatian orang ramai yang melalui kawasan tersebut untuk mendapatkan maklumat dan memberikan sokongan.
Sementara itu, Ketua Dewan Muslimat PAS Pusat, Ustazah Nuridah Salleh yang turut hadir menyatakan sokongan terhadap demonstasi aman GMI itu melahirkan rasa sedih beliau terhadap nasib malang yang menimpa keluarga tahanan ISA.
Beliau juga melahirkan rasa kesal kerana demonstrasi aman GMI itu telah dihalang oleh polis.
“Bila kita tanya kenapa kita disekat, dia kata itu kena tanya Perdana Menteri tapi masalahnya dah banyak kali jumpa PM tapi tidak ada hasil pun,” kata beliau.
Ustazah Nuridah berkata demonstasi adalah merupakan satu cara untuk menyampaikan bantahan terhadap apa yang dilakukan oleh kerajaan.
Seterusnya beliau mencabar ahli-ahli Parlimen Barisan Nasional yang beragama Islam agar keluar dari parti tersebut jika benar-benar mereka seorang Muslim sejati kerana BN telah menggunakan akta zalim dalam pemerintahannya.
“Saya cabar mereka ini menyertai Pakatan Rakyat kerana hanya Pakatan Rakyat yang berjuang untuk membebaskan tahanan ISA seterusnya menghapuskan terus akta lapuk ini,” kata beliau.
Beliau turut menyeru agar seluruh rakyat Malaysia terus berdoa agar akta ISA yang zalim ini akan segera dihapuskan. _

Your popularity will go to the drains if you prolong your taking of Putrajaya. You can give world class speech but here RPK is suffering in Kamunting. Please remember how he helped you in all your endeavors and now you seem to be not bothered. I am very sad to see him languishing in Kamunting. Yes, you have your strategy but do or organize something to highlight the plights of ISA detainees and put pressure on government, nationally or internationally. If you are worried about yourself being detained under ISA, please act fast to take over the government and set them free. DSAI, you are not at the court when I saw tears swelling on Marina’s daughters eyes and I cried too. I know you have your plan but as a layman I can’t tolerate the way things are going under BN government. Please do something.

This speech is pompous, boastful and is of no substance. DSAI made a bad choice of being led by the nose by the IMF to adopt the IMF’s policies. It would have been a disaster id it had been put in place! I’m no economist, but why isn’t the US adopting the same policies they were advocating a decade ago? Why have they adopted the same exercise practiced by Malaysia in 1998? The same exercise that they criticised back then?
I particularly detested the last part of the speech:
“Yet in my darkest hours of solitary confinement I had never given up hope that something good was to come of the ordeal. And now after more than a decade of struggle and profound challenges we are on the threshold of a new beginning.”
How disgusting – making a martyr of himself! He is a legend in his own mind! Don’t you people dare to compare this braggart and political liar to Mandela!

If a commentor says that he or she is not BN or UMNO or MCA or MIC you can rest assure they are. If DSAI is not credible I guess our dear PM or so call economic genius DPM should be invited to all these conferences to give speech. For BN politcians and supporters, these conferences send out invite to speakers based on qualification not just association. But, for you guys the word qualification is alien to you because you are use to UMNO membership and BN connection.

1. Seek special Royal Hari Raya Audience with His Majesty Sultan Mizan, the Yang Di-Pertuan Agung to get Royal Decree to form an all-new Government
2. Get Parliament to endorse an emergency bill for a National Referendum to be held at least two weeks after Raya to give all the People of Malaysia of “Baligh” age i.e. between age 12 and above to decide who they want their Prime Minister to be (dump current PM and vote for DSAI, instead)
3. Assert your PEOPLE POWER INFLUENCE to overthrow current Leadership by peaceful means or PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE!

Mohd Yoda aku setuju dengan apa yang kau cakapkan. Aku sebagai pelajar ekonomi, memang tak nampak langsung apa yang DSAI mahu buktikan. Malah dalam setiap ucapan dia, tak ada langsung dasar-dasar yang dia ingin perkenalkan untuk menggantikan dasar-dasar kerajaan. DSAI hanya tahu menggunakan istilah-istilah ekonomi unuk menarik perhatian masyarakat kononnya dia adalah ‘master’ dalam ekonomi. tolonglah DSAI hentikanlah perbodoh masyarakat Malaysia. Sebagai seorang pelajar yang sayangkan negara, saya tidak mahu masa depan negara tergadai dan musnah di tangan DSAI yang pandai berkata, tetapi tidak tahu langsung apa yang mahu dilakukan. Untuk berkongsi;
semalam semasa khutbah jumaat di sini(cardiff, uk) telah dijemput seorang penceramah.
Dia berkongsikan bahawa perdana menteri turkey kini jauh lebih baik drpd yg sebelumnya.
Sepanjang bulan Ramadhan ini, beliau tidak pernah berbuka di rumahnya tetapi setiap hari beliau akan ke rumah2 rakyat untuk berbuka. (rumah yg dipilih bukanlah rumah yg besar2 dan tidap pula diumumkan terlebih dahulu).
So apa yg pm tu buat, dia ketuk pintu dan meminta untuk berbuka puasa bersama keluarga rakyat itu dan meminta jgn diubah hidangan berbuka. itu yg dibuat oleh pm turkey sekarang(semoga benar dan Turkey akan terkeluar dr sekularisme oleh Kamal at tartuk). juga fyi, pm palestin juga mengamalkan berbuka dgn cara in tp mungkin ada sedikit berbeza dr segi caranya.
persoalannya, kalau dsai jd pm nanti, boleh tak dsai melakukan yg sama?

Im totally understand what u have been. Well BN Pie is too big n being rule for 51years. To topple this govt is totally hard. They will not let u to take over no matter what just like Ming Dynasty. If they fail to stop you then the Pie of their 51years corruption money will be caught in red handed. I guez no matter what they will used all the dirty trick to make you not to achieve it like using ISA n ACA… (Hope that u got what i mean). Cant the government just concentrate to build a better economy… Cant believe that we malaysian is losing to singapore. A kiasu island without resources. Malaysia have Rubber, oil palm, koko, timber n even oil. Oh OMG what the BN govt doing. Even most of their BN project is failure and under cut so many thing n quality of the production is totally worst then ISO9001.

It is a relief that you at Pakatan’s helm are deeply thinking about this issue of financial meltdown which is indeed worrying enough for the US to contemplate a bail out in the tune of USD 700 billion while the BN leaders in particular UMNO is nauseating the public daily with their musical chair on who is going for what position in UMNO.The same can also be said of other BN component parties.UMNO has not stop talking since March 8 just about them jostling for power..there is no concern about the man on the street..in the event there is a contagion effect of the meltdown.Even if the Pakatan Rakyat fails to wrest power soon it is a matter of time the rakyat will punish BN for this dereliction of duty by consigning it to history in the next General Elections.
We understand wresting power from BN is indeed a tall order especially there are entrenched interests of.more than 50 years .The rakyat will understand the delay and give you indulgence if explained clearly .Wresting power is certainly more difficult than just some arm chair critic willing the take over to happen but doing nothing BUT TALKING and criticising…wishing you the best May Allah grant you power.Selamat Hari Raya.

Our country would be governed by a brilliant PM like Anwar (DSAI) if not for the Mahathir sabotage.DSAI was a DPM, so, according to BN/Umno tradition, dont you think our DSAI should deserve to be the PM before Najib or even Abdullah (Mahathir’s wrong pick)?Umno should respect this transition of tradition.If now Malaysia wants to change PM from Abdullah to Najib(what a handful of Umno MPs want but not what the majority rakyat wants, then it is better to fast track the change from Abdullah to DSAI. From Abdullah to Najib would there be a difference or would it be worse off, no difference its abang adik (“like brothers”). It would be better off to change for the better,for the sake of our economy to bring back trust and confidence to our country.. just an opinion…no ISA please!

The root of the problems for the economic stagnancy of Malaysia (in term of the sluggish growth of GDP Per Capita, don’t be intoxicated by the annual growth rates of GDP as a whole) is the lack of entrepreneurship and technological innovation.
I am not talking about those mega projects of MSC or the abandoned Biovalley stuffs, but the entrepreneurship and innovation initiated by SMEs, as envisioned and promoted by the EU countries since 1990s.
The resilience of the SMEs is essential for sustaining the economic growth momentum as well as raising the income per capita, just like what has been occurring in USA, European countries, Japan and the Asian emerging economies.
Such view is also strongly supported by the growth theories of neo-classical economists as well as the Austrian school economists.
However, to invigorate the SME entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives, we have to reconfigure the existing economic policy and social system in the direction of institutional liberalization. In this case, the most envisioned reformations are to gear the domestic market towards more competitive environment and get rid of the enormous state interventions, adverse political influences as well as the distorted re-distributional measures.
It is not to say that we are going to abandon the Affirmative Programs for poor and weaker stratas of the demographic structure. “My beloved malaysia” konon. Ces!!! Bahasa Malaysia pun saudara rojakkan ada hati nak kata diri sendiri lebih sayangkan negara ni daripada orang lain. Yang DSAI hentam adalah “kepimpinan” negara yang pincang dan semakin pincang serta bertambah lemah, lesu, mengantuk dan suka tidur.
Bukannya hentam rakyat malaysia dan menyebabkan negara ini tidak stabil. Negara kita jadi tidak stabil kerana pemimpin BN tidak berdaya membuatkan negara kita berdiri sama tinggi dan duduk sama rendah dengan negara sekecil singapura walaupun telah memerintah selama 51 tahun dan negara mempunyai khazanah jauh lebih banyak daripada singapura. Malah mereka juga tidak berdaya stabilkan parti mereka sendiri malah memporakperandakan kehidupan rakyat dan pelbagai sistem negara ini.

to be honest, who cares if USA owns 100 zillion of jollars? what is really money? while they are some people says money need to be backed up by gold, but then.. what is gold really?

conclusion : gold is a PIECE OF ROCK.
how do people usually justify 1 ounce of gold will worth how much money? deep down inside its all a MASSIVE ILLUSION.
money is just a tool to enable human to do their job, go on with their living (not talking about greed at the moment) & focusing on money too much is not healthy either. I repeat, focusing too much on money IS NOT HEALTHY. its like youre thirsty now and desperately need a drink to quench your thirst, but you keep choosing which cup is preetier or good looking(focusing on the tools) and end up death because didnt want to drink only after found a suitable cup.
therefore i think USA as the biggest superpower are right to do what they need to do.. (to some extend.. )
how to see a person as potential leader :
- he/she do not cares about money/wealth
- he/she definitely not rich & materialistic
- he/she cares about ppl’s welfare and survival
- he/she willing to sacrifice their own personal time and money for others
- he/she blames him/herself when something goes wrong
deep down inside, most of the people DO NOT WANT TO BE responsible or become leader, because its really not an easy job & every human being wants some sort of easiness throughout their life, there is only one way..

I wonder if you had watched the debate bt DSAI & Shaberry. It’s on You-Tube anyway.
Shaberry was really shabby. His arguments touch on DSAI apparent character, history, etc. He doesn’t even confront the economic facts DSAI pronounces. Worst still, one Uni professor. I belive he was the adjudicator (apparently pro-UMNO); didn’t know himself what he was talking about. He was literally embarrassed on TV by DSAI with his lack of economics knowledge.
DSAI addressed economics matters quite objectively without resorting to politics.
