Dr Toh quits Gerakan

From Malaysiakini

Barely 24 hours after he voiced his support for opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in the Permatang Pauh by-election, Gerakan leader Dr Toh Kin Woon has quit his party.

The Gerakan central committee member submitted his resignation letter to the party today.

Giving no further details, Toh is said to have quit to concentrate on his NGO work.

Nevertheless, the timing of his pullout from the Penang-based party has raised many questions.

While most Barisan Nasional politicians were expressing their confidence in winning the Permatang Pauh by-election, Toh was seen visiting the PKR election operation centre yesterday.

During the visit the veteran politician expressed his support for Anwar and feels that the PKR leader’s addition to Parliament can help strengthen democracy.

“I am not speaking for my party, I am speaking for myself as an individual – I do support Anwar Ibrahim in this by-election. I am not actually supporting him too much as an individual but more on the movement that he leads.

“I feel if Anwar (is elected to) Parliament, the voices of the opposition will be stronger and the chances of strengthening the democracy and widening the democratic space will be better. For these reason, I support him,” said the academician-turned-politician.

The vocal politician had stressed that he was not supporting Anwar-led PKR as a party but the movement and the cause which the PKR politician has been fighting for.

Your headline should read “Dr Toh quits Gerakan” and not “Dr Goh quits Gerakan”. There is also a Dr Goh Cheng Teik in Gerakan and though he opposed the present top Gerakan leadership, he has not quit Gerakan. So by changing the headline, you will avoid people confusing Dr Toh Kin Woon with Dr Goh Cheng Teik.

Dr Toh’s resignation is a blow to the Gerakan’s multi-racial orientation being forced to turn racial because of its support for UMNO/BN’s racist policies. Already Lee Kah Choon and Dr Tan Kee Kwong have quit Gerakan. More will follow Dr Toh’s move.

It is time for Gerakan to close shop as there is no future for the party having toe UMNO’s racist line and get rebuffed by the people as what happened in the last general election. Gerakan should just quit BN and join Pakatan Rakyat if it genuinely wants to revert to its original multi-racial stance when it first started in 1968.

More Gerakan members will follow suit.

UMNO lost ground when Khairy come into Malaysia political scene. Khairy is the Joker.

PAK LAH lost the battle before even it started when allowing DSAI to make a comeback. PAK LAH is weak.

MCA lost it’s credibilty when UMNO Youth wielded the ‘KERIS’ in PWTC and swear to shed it with chinese blood. They do nothing.

MIC brought its own down fall by allowing Mr.Samy to reign for 33 years with the Indian Community heads nowhere. Indian poorer than average Malay

Gerakan lost because they forgot their humble begining and the justice and equality that they first championed 40 years ago in Penang.

It time to wake MALAYSIANS. Pakatans may not be perfect macth but at least we are moving for a change in the old order after 51 years of BN rule.

It’s time that the BN Mentris should sit at the opposition bench.

Just like the classic incident happened couple of years ago in MSIA Parlimen by MP Jerai, Kedah Dato Paduka Hj. Badruddin bin Amiruldin, 11th July 2005 who shouted

“YOU TAK SUKA, YOU KELUAR DARI MALAYSIA”

Now I tell, him “YOU KALO TAK SUKA, YOU DUDUK DIAM DIAM KAT KERUSI PEMBANGKANG!!! ATAU YOU KELUAR DARI PARLIMEN!!!”

God bless for Wind of Change

    WIND OF CHANGE – SCORPION

    I follow the Moskva
    Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
    An August summer night
    Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change

    The world closing in
    Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
    The future’s in the air
    I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

    Chorus:
Take me to the magic of the moment
    On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
    In the wind of change

    Walking down the street
    Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever

    I follow the Moskva
    Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
    On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
    With you and me

Take me to the magic of the moment
    On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
    In the wind of change

The wind of change blows straight
    Into the face of time
Like a storm wind that will ring
The freedom bell for peace of mind
    Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say

Take me to the magic of the moment
    On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
    With you and me

Take me to the magic of the moment
    On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
    In the wind of change

As I remember correctly, GERAKAN 1st won the general elections in 1969, and, Dr Lim Chong Eu was elected the Chief Minister of Penang, I know cause, I schooled there in Glugor English School (Primary) for 5 years, and Jelutong Secondary School for 5 years, although I was born on 27th August 1955 in Kg Batu, Rembau, Negri Sembilan, my late father being posted there in the Customs Govt Service, where our family lived and grew up at Customs Village, Bukit Glugor, on Penang Island.
Thus the record of governance performance by Gerakan party in since 1969, till today, speaks and can be analytically confirmed by the ex-Gerakan member mentioned, i.e. Gerakan leader Dr Toh Kin Woon.
This final conclusion can also be justified and should be followed by the other BN component parties members i.e. MCA, MIC, Sabah & Sarawak components, who have already joined the struggles of KeADILan, PAS and DAP, for a better Malaysia for Malaysian Citizens, for a better future for ourselves, our children and for our future generations to come, living in a strong Sovereign and Prosperous country that we dearly, MALAYSIA, InsyaAllah, prayers to Allah The AlMighty, Amin, for us Malaysian in Malaysia.

This person is very unassuming but has the right decency to tell Malaysians that is the right time that we put our minds together to bring all malaysians together leaving behind their social background that is destructive. I salute him for supporting Anwar and PKR ’s vision for one Malaysia. In return I am sure Dr.Toh should be invited to contribute to national peace plan in any capacity. Again, Dr. Toh is not an opportunist but it will be a waste if he is left a side. Saw Dr.Toh’s interview just yesterday… what an intellectual person.

Remind me a short story of M.K.Ghandi entitled “Shoe”:

    —————-
As Gandhi stepped aboard a train one day, one of his shoes slipped off and landed on the track. He was unable to retrieve it as the train was moving. To the amazement of his companions, Gandhi calmly took off his other shoe and threw it back along the track to land close to the first. Asked by a fellow passenger why he did so, Gandhi smiled. “The poor man who finds the shoes lying on the track,” he replied, “will now have a pair he can use.”
    —————-

Our country definitely need more of such conscious leaders to step up and make the right stance. Sacrificing ambition for the greater cause of Malaysia and our children.

Saya ingin memetik kata-kata Datuk Seri Anwar bahawa kita akan mengangkat martabat bangsa Melayu TANPA mengetepikan hak-hak bangsa lain. Begitu jelas bukan.

Even if Gerakan joins Pakatan Rakyat or becomes totally independent, I think the political landscape will remain unstable.

The country is facing intellectual choices that are more complex than just choosing between PR and BN.

Internally, both these parties will continue to be divided and weakened by two paradoxical political philosophies: individualism and statism.

There is a middle way, which is distributism. Could this be the answer to a stronger and more stable coalition for PR? More thoughts at http://www.jeremiahliang@blogspot.com

    mencemarkan negara kita.. malu kita’

Mereka kata semua menteri uMno menangis lihat video DSAI tengah liwat. Dia pun dah didapati bersalah memadailah”
Selepas beberapa tahun kes itu digugurkan. Kenapa tiba-tiba hakim jadi pandai pula?

    DSAI TAK BERSUMPAH
    Dua senario akan berlaku

    SENARIO PERTAMA
Persoalan kenapa takut nak sumpah? Sumpah lah Sumpah lah seperti terjadi sekarang.

    SENARIO SETERUSNYA
Soalnya kita nak lihat gelagat sapol masa kena tanya dimahkamah.
Lapuran blog nya yang mengatakan sapol ikut DSAI keluar negeri…..relevan nya ? adakah dia diliwat semasa diluar negeri VS first time on 26 june 2008? soal menyediakan tempat pertemuan orang bn nak lompat parti…relevan nya? Hai banyak sangat persoalan.
Saya percaya semua rakyat malaysia nak tahu kes sebenar.

    Mahathir suruh sumpah
Muyidin kata anuar akan menang besar kalaw bersumpah
najib kata sumpah lah nak ikut cara apa lagi ikut cara islam sumpah lah

sebab atas andaian saya yang pertama tadi

    SENARIO KEDUA

Walahualam

There can be no more division of races. Anybody who holds a Malaysian passport should be regarded as a Malaysian, not chinese, indian or Malay Malaysian.

We must remember, ALL, to contribute to society by understanding and civility.
We must listen to criticism and learn from it.
We must look to other parts of asia to understand their systems, find faults in their systems and improve upon our own.
We must be strong enough to break down the racial barrier, the mis-trust and know that each human being in Malaysia affords equal treatment, equal rights and the protection of its government. All Malaysians must answer to one set of laws regardless of race.

This is not 1945 Germany, where the wealthy Jews were discriminated against by the Nazi’s due to their so called “economic in equity”

This is not South Africa pre-Mandela where Blacks goto Balck Universities, and whites goto white Universities..

This is the year 2008. Where has there been any level of progess on racial grounds?

There has been none. And to that, Malaysia without change is seriously leaving the incompetent to manage, whilst the educated elite leave for greener pastures.

Congratulations Dr Goh. Gerakan stood for Multi racialism but failed to practise it.
Pakatan Rayat has proved that it can. So, Gerakan should dissolve itself or join Pakatan, sooner the better forMalaysians. Others in MCA and MIC who subscribe to this ideology should also do so immediately. Dr. Koh what are you waiting for? Take the lead now or disappear from Malaysian politics.

Walaupun ada desas desus bahawa DSAI hanya membela orang Melayu (penukaran Bahasa Kebangsaan dari BAhasa Malaysia kepada bahass Melayu), kami percaya DSAI telah berubah dan akan mewakili semua kaum lebih lebih lagi berikutan semua peguambela DSAI berketurunan India. saya juga difahamkan bahawa warden warden sel semasa DSAI dipenjarakan berketurunaan India dan telah menjaga dan melayan DSAI dengan cara yang baik. so please DSAI please bail us out this quadmire, i want to see my community prosper and come up, at present the situation is very saddening as more indaian youths are involvind in gangsterisme and robbery as there lack of job and educational oppurtunities. SO PLEASE MAKE A PROMISE THAT YOU WILL HELP US, WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT YOU. HIDUP DSAI, HIDUP HINDRAF AND HIDUP MALAYSIA.
