At a time when most of the BN top brass are expressing great confidence in winning the Permatang Pauh by-election, one top level Gerakan leader today risked party and BN irk by giving his stamp of approval for PKR’s Anwar Ibrahim.
That support came from Gerakan’s Penang-based leader Dr Toh Kin Woon, an outspoken former state executive councillor when Penang was ruled by Gerakan-led BN before the March general election.
Toh not just expressed his support for Anwar, he also visited a PKR election operation room in Permatang Pasir, one of three state constituencies in Permatang Pauh, this evening.
Accompanied by a friend, Toh was welcomed to the operation room by several top level Pakatan Rakyat leaders, including Penang deputy chief minister Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin, Penang exco Law Choo Kiang, PKR vice-president Dr Lee Boon Chye and information chief Tian Chua. Anwar was however not present.
A banner stating ‘let us reform Malaysia together’ was also placed at the room during Toh’s brief visit.
When met later, Toh said his visit was to show his support for Anwar in the by-election.
“I am not speaking for my party, I am speaking for myself as an individual – I do support Anwar Ibrahim in this by-election. I am not actually supporting him too much as an individual but more on the movement that he leads.
“I feel if Anwar (is elected to) Parliament, the voices of the opposition will be stronger and the chances of strengthening the democracy and widening the democratic space will be better. For these reason, I support him,” said the academician-turned-politician.
‘He has been very consistent’
The vocal politician stressed that he was not supporting Anwar-led PKR as a party but the movement and the cause which the PKR politician has been fighting for.
“He is leading the movement for transformation, greater democracy, equality and more openness in the society.
“I think he has been very consistent and courageous, (and) I support the movement that he leads,” Toh added.
The Gerakan leader was however coy when asked on the chances of BN candidate Arif Shah Omar Shah in the Aug 26 by-election.
“No comment. I’m just here to say why I’m here and the reason why I’m here is to support Anwar. Arif was my colleague in the state assembly,” he said in referring to the BN man who is also a two-term Seberang Jaya state assemblyperson.
Asked on whether he feared of disciplinary action which could be taken against him for openly pledging support to the rival candidate, he replied: “When we decide to take individual action, we have to be prepared. Whatever that comes, we will face it.”
He denied he has any immediate plans to quit Gerakan to join PKR, saying that “I will see how it goes”.
Rakyat supremacy
Toh also noted that he has retired from electoral politics and would like to join civil society. He said he has been consistent in supporting movements that will strengthen the civil society.
“(These movements must) strengthen the voices of moderation, against racism, for political freedom, a more just and equal society. Anwar has articulated all this,” stressed Toh.
Meanwhile, Fairus – who is also PKR’s Penanti state assemblyperson – welcomed Toh’s support.
“We are pleased with this visit and hope it will inspire the rest in BN to look at the current political development that has to be based on the ‘rakyat supremacy’ and not racial politics,” the Penang deputy chief minister said.

Yes we need change. Clean up the stinking eggs in Government, Police, Judiciary, AG’s office etc.The only agent to lead this change is Saudara Anwar. Let all voters of Permatang Pau line up behind him and make sure the other candidates lose their deposit. This is how everyone contribute to the making of FREE AND JUST MALAYSIA. MERDEKA! Good move Dr.Toh. I really hope Gerakan pulls out from BN and move into PR. Really, it is time to end BN rule once and for all. Badawi is a good man on his own but a useless leader in his party and lame duck PM. DSAI is the man for the job today. Please help to get rid of BN/UMNO forever. They are hated by all Malaysians except the cronies who are very opportunistic and love them for the things they can get out of it. Congrats Dr.Toh!

Pemilihan SPR untuk diadakan PRK di tanggal 26 Ogos (Selasa) pada hari bekerja merupakan strategi awal untuk UMNO/BN melaksanakan sebesar2 dan selicik2 penipuan untuk memberi pukulan maut kepada DSAI.

SPEECH BY DSAI
Students who have the potential to excel in their studies should be given equal opportunities to
pursue tertiary education, said PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
All students, regardless of race, should have the chance to “rise to the occasion” and fulfil their potential, he stressed.
Anwar also touched on the suggestion by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim that 10% of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) intake be open to non-Malay and foreign students.
“Khalid was only talking about opening one or two courses to non-bumiputras. But Umno views it as selling off UiTM to the Chinese,” he said at a dinner with Chinese voters in Sungai Lembu near here last night.
He said smart Chinese, Malay and Indian students should be given every opportunity to move up the ladder.
“If the Malays are smart, let them rise. The same applies to Chinese and Indians,” he said. “Who benefits from this? Everyone.
“The Government benefits and so does the economy.
“But now, we uplift Malays who are not smart. Everyone loses and the share market drops.”
He also said not all Malays were corrupt or thieves, adding that the good ones had the capability to make the country prosper.
Its so sad when an indian girl who scored A’s was ignored place at IPTA.

UMNO is now really trying to down play the Anwar Ibrahim’s expected win. They will shift the focus on “reducing his majority” which is a bit pointless because right now all Anwar Ibrahim needs is a win even if it is 1 vote.
A loss for Anwar will effectively end his and PKR political ambitions. Therefore one can be 100% sure that DSAI is not planning to loose. He has come too far for that.
A win on the other changes the political landscape completely. As an MP and leader of the opposition in Parliament, Anwar will have UMNO and its Ministers pinned to the walls.
Right now there are 2 main groups that are worried of an Anwar win. 1 is UMNO and 2 are the cronies aligned to UMNO. Even Tun M has said if Anwar becomes PM he will migrate. Why?
The combination of all the dirt that Anwar surely must have on the politicians and they cronies combined with Anwar’s deep desire for justice (for himself) will be explosive. I cannot see Anwar stepping into the PM’s job, then offering Amnesty. No. I see a huge clean up in the judiciary, police etc and in the process lots and lots of people are going to go down. The whole concept of political patronage which was so well cultivated by Tun M (as expressed by Daine K Mauzy in her book Malaysian Poltics Under Mahathir).
Also note how quiet and feeble MIC and MCA have been on Anwar Ibrahim. Its almost like a UMNO vs Anwar fight and not a BN fight. And this is most understandable. An Anwar win, and if he indeed pulls of the greatest coup ever and does become PM, MIC and MCA become irrelevant overnight. PKR simply becomes the better option. And I think this is the price that MIC and MCA will pay for 51 years of continued racial politics.
Quite clearly I expect to see MCA lining itself to support the government of the day as too much is at risk on the business side to be left out. Today’s talk of Gerakkan puling out of BN in Perak is already a sign of things to come.
As for the Rakyaat, all I can say is be brave. Change is always good. The biggest winner of in all of this will be the rakyaat, It is high time for the Political Master to realize that they are actually political servants and their job is to serve this rakyaat. If Anwar Ibrahin is a means to achieving that end, lets stand with him – not because of him or for him but for what he can bring to us.

Naib Presiden Gerakan menyokong Anwar Ibrahim bertanding di Permatang Pauh. Katanya, ini kukuhkan demokrasi dan kuatkan suara pembangkang di Parlimen. Endorsement ini akan memudahkan Anwar dalam pilihanraya kecil ini.
Parti Gerakan Perak pula mencadangkan Gerakan keluar Barisan Nasional. Alasannya UMNO memperjuangkan politik Melayu Islam, dan berdialog dengan PAS. Itu alasan Gerakan Perak. Alasan yang dibuat dengan melupakan hakikat bahawa MCA,dan MIC, malah Gerakan sendiri memperjuangkan kaum tertentu juga.
Semua orang tahu bahawa alasan sebenar ada dua. Pertama, BN kalah pilihanraya. Kedua, pemimpin BN dan UMNO kini cukup lemah. Keyakinan orang terhadap Pak Lah adalah rendah dan mereka tak mahu tunggu dua tahun lagi.

PERMATANG PAUH, 18 Ogos (Hrkh) Puteri Umno yang ditugaskan ke kampung-kampung sekitar Parlimen Permatang Pauh untuk menarik undi akhirnya terpaksa bertukar imej daripada berbaju pink, bertopi dan berjaket hitam kepada berpakaian biasa berbaju kurung dan bertudung.

Tinjauan dan maklumat yang diperolehi mendapati usaha mereka dilihat masih gagal melaksanakan tugasan merayu simpati agar penduduk Permatang Pauh berubah undi kepada Barisan Nasional (BN) yang dikatakan lebih relevan pada masa ini.
Malah tindakan merayu undi menambah kemarahan penduduk beberapa buah kampung yang dimasuki oleh Puteri Umno kerana kurang senang dengan tingkah laku atau pujukan yang dijalankan seolah-olah penduduk di Permatang Pauh kurang faham situasi negara apatah lagi cara terbaik untuk memilih kepimpinan negara.

Oleh kerana itu menurut sumber, Puteri Umno dan gerak kerja parti BN hanya tertumpu di Dun Sebarang Jaya berbanding di Dun Permatang Pasir dan Penanti kerana cara mereka tidak diterima ramai.
Para pengundi juga diminta berhati-hati melihat wanita berkebaya, berbaju kurung, bertudung labuh atau berseluar jeans kerana khuatir Puteri Umno menyamar sebagai perayu undi KeADILan atau PAS dan perbezaan yang jelas kelihatan ialah tindakan mereka yang mengaitkan kes liwat, peristiwa sumpah oleh Saiful atau membandingkan keramahan Dato’ Ariff Shah dengan orang ramai. – mns _

Sejak digubal pada 1960, ISA telah menjadi alat paling berkuasa bagi pihak eksekutif untuk menahan seseorang individu atau kumpulan tanpa bicara.
Akta ini telah menyekat kebebasan individu, meningkatkan kuasa eksekutif, melemahkan kuasa mahkamah dari menyemak sebarang ketidakadilan dan menjadi ancaman terhadap hak asasi manusia.
Sejak ISA diperkenalkan, sejumlah 10,711 orang menjadi tahanan di bawah akta itu.
Pada masa ini terdapat 70 orang lagi yang masih ditahan mengikut akta berkenaan di kem tahanan Kamunting, di Taiping.

Dr Toh has always been a man of great integrity. He was the conscience of Gerakan and during his tenusre as a Penang state exco member, he has often taken up issues which were not popular with the BN leadership. So I am not at all surprised at his support for the cause that Sdra Anwar Ibrahim is articulating. In fact, the original Gerakan established in 1968 had aspirations very similar to those of today’s PKR.

This year’s MERDEKA will be celebrated with much more importance! This year we will be celebrating ke-MERDEKA-an from CRONYISM & CORRUPTION. Most important of all, ke-MERDEKA-an from UMNO & BN evil allies.
This year we are gonna celebrate ke-MERDEKA-an RAKYAT! RAKYATS rules and elect LEADERS/PM not the other way round.
Lets make a single political party which all Malaysian benefits. I envisioned Dato Onn Jaafar INDEPENDENT PARTY after leaving UMNO which he setup in 1948 in JB. He clearly states that
“ONE PARTY FOR ALL, AND JUSTICE FOR EVERYONE”
I salutes Dato Onn for his vision which is 60yrs ahead of time.
I saltues TUNKU for liberating Malays, Chinese & Indians out from British and granted us- chinese & indians a rightful status as Malaysian. But it’s sad that UMNO had become arrogant and ignorant and IRRELEVANT anymore. TUNKU will be sad to see this happen.
MCA & MIC are not in main stream and will be left out in cold. It all boils down to Gerakan to make the bravest move, join or be left out. You choose.
The RAKYAT has made their stands, WE WANT CHANGE and CHANGE WE WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Please,please appeal to all especially the Chinese in Penang not bet in this by-election.
If everyone is betting with odds favouring Anwar then the reverse would be true!

Time and again DSAI has been very consisitent with his stand on the real issues in Malaysia. Unlike the flip flop PM who has no clue whatsoever to lead this country.
As DSAI said, “Ini ada lah negara kita”. I agree with him that this is the country for malay,chineese,indian,Kadazan,iban, and Dayak. We will defend this beloved country of ours till the end and no one race can claim to be superior to another. Ketuanan rakyat is what we want to hear.
If a Malay man is poor, please help him by all means so that he will be able to educate his children properly.
Similarly the chineese, indians, iban.kadazan,and orang asli should be given a helping hand.
Instead of this the dirty politicians from UMNO BN playing the same racial politics of “hak orang melayu tercabar”. Actually not hak orang melayu yang tercabar, hak orang UMNO serta kroni kroni nya yang tercabar.

Up to now the BN has not put up a creditable plans and strategy to counter PR’s call to effectively combat corruption and lower the impact of price hike on fuel and food for the Malaysian public. Who can help them? All they heard are the disappearance of PI Bala and the Mymmarish medical doctor who examined Saifu, and a lot of other side shows. The vast majority of Malaysian are really looking for a change of the political landscape. They turn to DSAI who’s future is in the hands of Permatang Puah voters. Judging from the audiences attending his ceramah he is on course to capture the seat soon.

Sumber perisikan memberitahu ada strategi memancitkan kereta petugas PR di malam pilihanraya.
Strategi itu adalah bertujuan:
1. Supaya pengangkutan PR lumpuh dan pengundi hanya akan diangkut
oleh BN.
2. Kesesakan dan kedai tayar yang belum dibuka akan membuatkan suasana lumpuh ini berlanjutan.
3. Hati2 kereta BN yang pakai lambang PR ( menyamar)
di dalam kereta pengundi akan dipsiko.
OLEHITU PR buat stiker khas yang akan diedar pada petugas pada subuh hari mengundi sahaja.
4. PR digalakan guna motosikal.

Nampaknya telah muncul satu reformasi baru yang amat membanggakan.. Pemimpin yg memang kita agung2kan seperti DSAI. Tahniah kepada DSAI….. Memang kita mahukan pemimpin sepertinya yg berkaliber dan boleh menegakkan benang yg basah, memutihkan perkara yg hitam. Tahniah!!!! Inilah pemimpin yang kita mahu. Kami BERSIMPATI atas nasib DSAI yg DIZALIMI oleh KONSPIRASI. Semoga cita-cita DSAI selama ini akan kesampaian. Kerana dia seorang yg berjaya dan dapat menubuhkan Pakatan yg terdiri daripada parti yg berbeza dasar perjuangannya.. Tahniah, tahniah dan tahniah kepada DSAI..
