I know I am uncharacteristically efficient posting things out on this list, but given these murky times in contemporary Malaysia, I will plead this indulgence, “among friends…”

Anwar was released on bail today.

The original report against him which claimed sexual assault appears to have been ammended, and he was charged with consensual anal intercourse instead (yes, that is the lexicon of the day in oh-so-sanctimonious Malaysia of Islam Hadhari). His alleged ‘willing’ partner, however, as of now, appears to be free of such a charge.

Obviously the stain of 1998 did not only shatter any shred of integrity institutions in this country may once have possessed, it also left the indelible legacy of smut upon our everyday collective consciousness.

This most recent episode hardly suffices as a “conspiracy”, it is little more than a attempt at a crude farce. The following is also a timely response to the Cassius Liberals in our midst (I was getting so weary of using the terms fake and soft liberals, so thanks Jo for the ingenious alternative). As a Hard Liberal I have taken great exception and offense to this species and their hiding up the darkest side of their bum’s while adopting the “liberal” stance and urging Anwar to submit to the “due process of the law”.

“Due process…” ???
