Asia Sentinel – A medical report surfaces saying the male aide who filed charges against the opposition leader wasn’t molested. The doctor who examined a 23-year-old male aide allegedly sodomized by Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim found no evidence of tearing or scarring that would indicate penetration, according to a medical report leaked to local journalists.

If the document is genuine, it can be expected to raise further suspicions of complicity on the part of top government leaders in attempting to destroy Anwar politically. The charges against Anwar, filed by the youth on June 28, would have ended the opposition politician’s political career and put him back behind bars, where he had spent six years from 1999 on similar charges, which human rights organizations across the world condemned as trumped up. Sodomy is a crime punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment and caning.

The medical report leaked today appears to confirm what we have always believed – that the allegations against Anwar Ibrahim are without merit and politically motivated.

We are deeply troubled by the allegations conveyed by some reports that the police spent three days recording a statement from the Doctor and that he and his family have gone into hiding. Every assurance must be given for his safety and protection.

The existence of this medical report further erodes any confidence the public would have in the credibility of the police report that has been filed against Anwar Ibrahim, a report which remains shrouded in secrecy. Why has this medical report has surfaced only today, over one month after the allegations were made, after Anwar Ibrahim spent a night in jail, and after the police have spent so much time and money on this case?

There is no evidence that Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan was sodomised, according to the doctor who examined him four hours before he lodged a police report alleging he was sexually assaulted by PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim.

It is believed that Anwar’s former aide Saiful (left) went to two different hospitals on June 28 – the day he lodged the police report claiming that he was sodomised by his ex-boss.

He first went to Hospital Pusrawi (Pusat Rawatan Islam) in Jalan Tun Razak – a government-linked Islamic medical institution – at about 2pm.

According to a copy of the two-page medical report obtained by malaysiakini yesterday, Saiful went to the hospital complaining of ‘tenesmus’ – a medical term for difficulty and pain in passing motion.

Malaysia’s opposition leader has told the BBC that he has an alibi for “every minute” of the day when he is accused of sodomy with a former male aide.

Anwar Ibrahim was released on bail on Thursday after being held for 21 hours. He refused to give a DNA sample, saying it could be manipulated to frame him.

Mr Anwar says he is the victim of a personal vendetta, and has called the allegation “complete fabrication”.

Semalam di Bandar Tun Razak dan malam ini di Kulim saya memperakui kenyataan sebenar bersabit isu pembentukan Kerajaan Negeri Selangor selesai PRU12 8 Mac lalu.

Saban hari saya berhubungan terus dengan pimpinan PAS khususnya Tuan Guru Ustaz Hadi dan juga pimpinan DAP. KeADILan, PAS dan DAP tidak berganjak dari ketetapan memperkukuh muafakat Pakatan Rakyat.

Justeru itu kita harus waspada dengan muslihat Umno, termasuk dakwaan Khir Toyo yang menyelar saya sebagai penghalang utama ke arah pembentukan Kerajaan Pas-Umno di Selangor.

Ternyata Umno terdesak lemas lantaran pergelutan dalaman dan kegagalan mengatasi kemelut politik dan kegawatan ekonomi. Perlu dijelaskan bahawa sehingga kini saya tidak dapat mengesan sebarang langkah atau kenyataan dari pimpinan ketiga parti induk Pakatan yang boleh ditafsirkan sebagai keretakan.

Malah dalam perbualan talipon saya pagi tadi dengan Ustaz Hadi Awang, saya singkap perundingan di antara kami dan DAP tatkala memutuskan cadangan perlantikan Tan Sri Khalid selaku MB Selangor.

Ketika itu Ustaz Hadi menalipon saya menolak desas desus dan menegaskan bahawa beliau telah pun mengirim faks mengesahkan keputusan Pas menyokong pencalonan Tan Sri Khalid.

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) – Malaysia’s opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim said Sunday that he aims to return to parliament for the first time in a decade later this year if a court orders a by-election near his home town.

A high court in Kedah state will hear a challenge on August 19 asking it to invalidate the result in a seat that was won by his Keadilan party in March 8 general elections.

Anwar told AFP that if the court declares the result null and void he will contest the ensuing by-election.

Anwar Ibrahim warmed up to the Bandar Tun Razak electorate tonight as part of his by-election ‘campaign’ in a constituency which he claims to be eyeing as a ticket to Parliament.

In a hastily arranged ceramah, the charismatic leader spoke to the nearly 2,000 strong multiracial crowd which braved the drizzle throughout the 75-minute speech at a surau compound in Taman Len Sen.

Despite the wide range of topics, his main agenda of the night was to signal his intention to contest in the area and test the waters.

“I was dumped into this high-security police lockup for, you see, these high-level criminals. . . . On the cement floor, without any mattresses. That explains why I have to be back on this.” Anwar Ibrahim gingerly peels up his shirt to reveal a corset-like back brace. And then he bursts into laughter.

For a man released from a night in jail only a few days earlier, Mr. Anwar is an awfully jolly man. Malaysia’s opposition leader has been accused of sodomy by a former aide — a criminal offense in this Muslim-majority country that could send him to jail for up to two decades. It’s a bizarre déjà vu for the bespectacled politician, who spent 1998-2004 behind bars on a trumped-up sodomy charge the last time he challenged for political power.
