From Daily Express – Kuala Lumpur: Opposition figurehead Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Sunday his bid to seize power with the help of defecting government lawmakers had been boosted by an unpopular fuel price hike.Anwar said that at least 30 parliamentarians are willing to cross over to the Pakatan Rakyat opposition alliance, and that if the opposition gained power, the fuel price would immediately be cut.

“According to our timetable it is still on. Now it is more attractive after the price hike,” Anwar told a press conference after a meeting with members of his Keadilan party’s Supreme Council.

From The Edge Daily -  PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is expected to become the prime minister if the opposition coalition takes over the government, said he will resign if he fails to reduce pump prices of petrol.“As soon as Pakatan Rakyat forms the government, oil prices will be reduced. I will resign if oil prices are not reduced,” he told a press conference at Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) new headquarters here yesterday.

Anwar said Pakatan was committed to reduce the pump prices of petrol and would announce the mechanism to reduce the prices at the appropriate time. “I have no qualms (on reducing petrol prices). It is not an irresponsible statement as alleged,” he added.

Mesyuarat berkala di antara pimpinan ketiga parti komponen Pakatan Rakyat diadakan dirumah saya di Segambut malam tadi.

Kami merumuskan beberapa isu utama termasuk kaedah dan program menangani kenaikan harga minyak, perbincangan draf kerangka muafakat, dan memutuskan beberapa bentuk tindakan bersama.

Diantara perkara pokok yang dibicarakan termasuk strategi Pakatan di Parlimen.

Kenyataan mengenai keputusan terperinci akan dikeluarkan oleh pimpinan parti.
