Kesabaran parti2 komponen BR amat mengkagumkan.
From the above interview, I’ve notice that The Sun are still trying to play a “neutral role” in the mainstream media but not convincing enough to show that they are free from the UMNO influence, not at this point in time. I’m the kind that reads all type of media ranging from TheStar/NST to MalaysianInsider, Jeff Ooi, HarakahDaily. I’ve noticed that most media (including the mainstreams) are taking context/content out of each other and quoting them, even from the famous bloggers. Well this has proven that all parties have acknowledge the power of alternative media through a freedom of press on the Internet. I’m just wondering if PKR plans to put up one itself (like HarakahDaily for PAS) to people as they can read the “real” quotes and information in regards to PKR’s activities and interviews as it would deemed true as HarakahDaily would not change the content and facts for a Tok Guru’s event, speech or interview.
On my next point, I’ve notice that the new Government has given hope to the people (like myself) but the people needed to give time for these hope to becoming reality, but what are the expectations and achievements can we foresee by Q1/2009 (1 year period) in Selangor and Perak? The reason for my question is because I’ve run a few projects in Selangor before and I know how deep the problems for any new government to resolve as some problems dated back as far as the 80s and any intention to start a witch-hunt or planning attempt may resolve to street demonstrations and backslash that will endangered the public security. And I do wish to see some open door policies to meet with higher authorities from the Selangor government to discuss problem which occurs during the Toyo’s administrative because I still remember that someone offers me to meet with the ex-MB for a price of RM80k which I refused as my proposal help solves both the state and my company’s problem in a win-win proposal. And I’m sure I’m not alone in this as there are many more of my kind out there, victims of BN/UMNO-putra governance. Do advice.
Assalammualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh dan Selamat Sejahtera kepada semua rakyat Malaysia.
Kita bukan ahli politik,
Kita hanya rakyat biasa,
Kita bukan jenis yang tak ambil kisah,
Kita cuma tiada upaya untuk mengubah,
Kita menjunjung pemimpin mulia,
Kita tolak pemimpin rasuah,
Kita cuba sedaya upaya,
Kita tetap akan kalah,
Kita kalah bukan kerana tiada usaha,
Kita kalah kerana rakyat sendiri memuliakan rasuah,
Kita jangan mudah menyerah kalah,
Kita terus berjuang sehingga ke akhir hayat kita,
Kita nampak rakyat terima rasuah,
Kita jangan lupa dirikan solat,
Terima kasih Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, sungguhpun saya tak mengenali Datuk Seri,
Teruskan perjuangan Datuk Seri,
sesungguhnya menegakkan kebenaran memang begitu rencamnya,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Islam,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Diri Mereka,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Ahli Keluarga,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Sahabat Handai,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Penyokong-Penyokong,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Kroni-kroni mereka,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan rakyat Malaysia,
Good to see you getting positive local press coverage at last Datuk Seri. The Sun can be quite balanced when it chooses to be.
Keep up the fight DSAI, it must be tough shouldering the burden of 24 million Malaysians (the 3 million or so UMNO members are excluded from this figure). Hope the cross over plan comes to fruition, as you said Barisan Rakyat should have won the 12th General Elections.
Strange times call for creative solutions, it’s time to seize the initiative and try to take over the federal government. God knows that BN will be better prepared in the 13th GE with an even bigger bag of tricks.
Bro….Anwar..Please print out what was written in the SUN for all to read properly.
I get my “SUN” faithfully thrown to my doorstep… FOC…but today…no delivery.
Thanks in advance.
Faster be the Malaysian PM, we are waiting for you to brinh hope and life to Malaysia. Hidup Datuk Seri, Hidup Malaysia! Datuk Seri, please take care of your self. We want a stong and caring and democratic leader like you. So your health and well-being is very very important. I will parade in the streets with all the other Malaysians if datuk seri becomes PM. I know Datuk Seri will be PM for a long, long time. The time has come and it is now!. I pray to God, God Bless YAB DSAI!
InshaAllah.
HI !… Sejak bila Tan Sri Vinsent Tan Sri berpaling arah setahu kita THE SUN milik TVT atau dia tahu DSAI ada sinar bakal jadi PM dia mula ubah haluan dari BN ke BR apa nak jadi dengan keroni UMNO ni mereka dah berpaling tadah saya rasa lebih ramai lagi keroni UMNO akan berpaling tadah.hidup BR nanpaknya BN dan UMNO akan jadi Kera Sumbang bila Ananda Krishnan pun berpaling tadah maka BN dan UMNO pasti terjun bangunan dari menara PWTC. Tq TVT.
Your fight is all worthy. I always ask myself I can withstand such pressure and massive slandering, character assasination and inhumane treatment. Then it dawns on me that once a person believes in the higher purpose of life, such issues and hurdles become ingredients for deliverance. Our prayers are with you. You will not be liked by all, because even the Creator is not liked by all, but the silent majority believes in you DSAI. Soldier on and Allah SW will deliver you to The Promised Land.
On a lighter note: I like how you dress and pose for photos. You are always sharp dressed and photo friendly unlike the gloomy faces of Barang Naik and Najis and their clowns. No wonder they are jealous of you. DS, I know a Swahili proverb which says: “You feel the load heavier as you draw near home.” It is a fact. If you go to the marke on foot, once you return and you can see the house but still is distant somehow, you start breathing high and feeling tired. In this case, you are almost to deliver victory. The days ahead may be defining, all what you need is to stand firm and play your cards well and you will succeed insha Allah.
It’s good to see the mainstream medias are starting to provide more space for leaders from the Barisan Rakyat. It’s a start. Something is better than nothing don’t you think so?
Mula2 terdetik gak hati nie bila Chandra cakap pasal loceng dikuil..
Dengan penerangan DSAI kat the Sun di atas…
Saya dah faham..
Tahniah kerana dapat menyelesaikan masalah tersebut…
Kesimpulan..yang boleh digunakan..
Tegas menyatakan pendirian…
Bapa saya seorang yang sangat fanatik dengan Anwar Ibrahim semenjak dari Abim days to Umno days to Reformasi days and after jailbreak up until election 2008 . Dia tidak kira apa tindakan yang akan di ambil oleh Anwar terutama selepas keluar jail when people may assume that he will be forgotten same as Umno leaders yang dijatuhkan , samada Anwar akan go back to Umno or Anwar akan berdiri teguh sebagai pemimpin pembangkang which he is more prefer , he will support him . He beleive that only Anwar is the best choice for Malaysia PM . In sg buloh days he always pray for Anwar every night and even pray at Arafah in 99 haji year . And when 13 April come close he is afraid of Anwar safety and even told someone that can contact Selangor MB to use any police or force to guard Anwar safety . I think there are more who same like my father especially those from Abim days and some of them sudah berpindah ke alam lain …..
I was shocked to see the interview by YAB. MB selangor, saying he is going to continue the former Barisan Nasional’s plan to go ahead destroying and abolishing squatters.
YAB. MB. That was a very unpleasant word to say or the way you said it, is very upsetting. There are thousand ways to say it in proper manner. Please be careful what you are saying. The Nation is watching you closely.
I know exactly what you mean; you don’t want any of Rakyat Selangor to live in harsh misery in Squatters anymore. If the Govt of Selangor wants that area to be developed, After consulting with residents of that particular squatter, You can provide a better place or moving them to a different area with all the facilities available. So the burden of Rakyat will be eased. At same time Govt can develop that area.
Certainly not by FROCE with engaging Police personals and FRU’s and PKNS personals with bulldozers. Without consulting the Rakyat first. THAT’S BARISAN NASIONAL’s WAY.
That’s the way to put it. Please forgive me if I’m wrong. I don’t mean to be rude.
This is the kind of true support our beloved BR needs in these critical times. I have been emphasizing in the HarisIbrahim website that if we have already decided that we voted BR to rule then we must go all the way to Parliament if opportunity presents itself. If there are questions for DSAI to tackle for “enticing” BN people then I wouldn’t mind if these Qs come from BN but not from a “true” supporter in Haris Ibrahim. If we are in the same boat why then bore a hole? The GE12 results have manifested itself that Barisan Rakyat is the more eligible & rightful son of BARISAN BAPA to stake a claim to rule Parliament (if we can discount computation from East M’sia). Some bloggers try too hard to play “GOD”. There is clear line between an academician and a politician. We have an example here B4 our very own eyes in the likes of one called ‘Cendol Ooze-afar’ who couldn’t make a cut in PKR sometime ago. A Rocket Scientist can talk “cock” but a Politician fights like a ferocious fighting cock. They belong to different worlds. Fingers can blog, but mind shouldn’t clog.
The recent concluded election clearly indicates that a large number of Indian-Malaysians, particularly the youth and the disadvantaged, feel marginalized and alienated from the mainstream development and progress of our nation. They are looking for just treatment, and for a government machinery at all levels that understands and empathises with their concerns so as to effectively address them. In every respect, the slow action of the government also has led to one of the major discontentments which is the feeling of alienation among Indians.
I view this as a wake up call for all and as an opportunity for us as a nation to take a fresh look at our institutions in order to achieve our aspirations of becoming a developed nation. In the light of this, very crucially there must be a structural change in the implementing agency—i.e. a world class civil service composed of decision makers reflecting the diversity of our multiracial society.
As a Malaysian born Indian, it is not the racist or extremist of me but only natural of me to see through the well being of my community at large. Therefore, any running goverment of the day should take note of the maturity that we have attained throughout the 50 years of independence. Therefore the question of who leads the nation through the democratic process ( let it be BN or the PKR-DAP-PAS) is less significant compared to the fact what are they going to do in addressing THE MANY issues of very grave concern facing the Indian community in Malaysia.
To the goverments from the both sides, we advice them to buck up and start listening to us! To BN, remember, you have let us down the last time around! You have got one last chance to redeem! We leave it to you! And to PKR-DAP-PAS, you have shown you good side, no doubt, but remember it is not what you promise that matters, but you will deliver for us that matters! Both you BN and PKR-DAP-PAS have your opportunity now! The best man wins! Lets see who can deliver!
Lastly, to my fellow united Indians, lets stay together and keep the course at all cost and lets build a beautifull Malaysia for our childrens and for all Malaysians. Take pride, the report card is in our hands! To begin with, its only proper for all Malaysian Indians at all levels to identify and highlight the many issues of very grave concern facing the Indian community in Malaysia. As a victimized Indian , I begin the ball with my share of issues from Sabah. Read through and add on to the list as we want every Indian voice to be heard. Valgha Makkal Sakthi!
“Many Indian government servants are being denied the right for promotion even after every conditions are fulfilled and when approached, they are send to serve remote arrears as a make up for shortcoming in the promotion policies. Promotion policies must be transparent and just!â€
Statements of a statesman. May God blesses you with wisdom all the way moving forward.
While busy charting further right strategies/plannings/programs and ensuring the their sincere (good) implementation, keep on reminding yourselve and all the Lieutenants day and night of ‘the Basics’ and ‘the Cores’ which you are clearly full of them.
The point here is keep on reminding.
You accomodate the people in your heart, they will in return accomodate you in their hearts. Is that ‘the Great Sunnah Alam’ you have learned since long years back?
Yes “Average Malaysian”
I was asked to pay RM25K for half an hour to meet a minister. I refused.
I had a solid proposal to give to government for cost and time savings for a better productive admin work…approved by MAMPU…but I let it go..as I refused to pay.
It took me few years researches …to come out with the proposal…and I threw that into the waste paper basket…and told myself..never to depend on government business anymore.
No Chinese can hope to do business with UMNO honestly. It must be… ‘Ali-Baba” and yet…they blame the Chinese.
I have never seen a government…….in the whole world…more corrupted…twisted and cunningly selfish….government….supporting one race and religion….yet denying it.
Then I was told by one very close friend …a powerful Malay politician…..that I need to be prepared to part 50% profit to someone……….if I want to get the deal.
It was calculated to be in tens of millions profits……plus much ore savings for the government.
I said…….that 50% must be donations from my company to build mosques ..schools and not to any personal account.
We went off to see few high ranking UMNO guys….all said….Mahathir holds the keys to yes or no in deals………and he is interested only if the …amount runs into at least.. a billion RM.
So right Minister..cannot see. Top man…cannot see.
That’s how our country will achieve Vision2020
Average Malaysian writer….I was asked to pay RM25k for half an hour of a minister’s time …..yeas ago……on a proposal..proven to be beneficial to the government.
I refused and threw my 3 years research to the waste paper basket….vowing never to depend on the government.
All my life….when time and cost savings are clearly proven more than the investments to my clients..and the said investment will come back …from the said cost and time savings benefits….I have never lost a sale…except…dealing with our government/
That’s their Vision2020………all by themselves…for themselves and with their whims and fancy selves.
Ini Anwar ni kalau jadi PM, alamat hancur satu negara dikerjakannya. He is the closest to “Hitler” that Malaysia got. Kerja dia masa dalam UMNO dulu asyik nak menjatuhkan dan mengaibkan orang sana sini..last last dia sendiri yang kena KO..padan muka..
Cakap bolehlah si Anwar ni…tapi aku rasa satu benda pun takde yang dia contribute kat Malaysia.
Aku cabar Anwar publish aku punya comment ni..kalau betul kau memang Adi dan bagi hak bersuara kepada semua orang..ni aku tengok semua komen puji kau…takde beza lah dgn UMNO zaman Pak Lah..
Kau dgn Pak Lah sama saja…janji aje lebih habuk pun tarak…apa orang Penang memang macam tu ka..
Ingat jangan sampai tertipu lagi dgn si biawak lidah bercabang ni..alama hancurlah negara kita..jaangan ingat aku tak ingatkan korang..especially yang muda muda baru kenal Anwar 1-2 tahun..aku dah kenal dan cukup masak dgn perangai mamat ni dah lenbih 20 tahun dah..cakap dia satu pun tak boleh tak pakai…
One foot in the doors (The Sun’s interview with Anwar Ibrahim)
Thursday, 27 March 2008
R. Nadeswaran and Terence Fernandez
PETALING JAYA (March 26, 2008): Despite a bad back and fatigue from two weeks of criss-crossing the nation, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de-facto leader and former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is all smiles, following the alternative front’s unprecedented performance in the recent general election and his impending return to active politics.
He tells theSun of the challenges in going into the polls and the even bigger tests ahead.
Nades: One of your biggest challenges was (prior to the elections) getting a cohesive team. You had three different parties with three different ideologies. How did you manage to unite and convince them on having straight fights?
Anwar: What’s so different about Umno, MCA and MIC? Or PBB or PBS or PBDS. One talks about “ketuanan Melayu”, one talks about Chinese survival, one wants Indian affairs resolved. It does not seem to be contentious as in practice they were able to show a cohesive stance.
Similarly within Keadilan, PAS and DAP. Other than what’s perceived from outside … look at the manner they conducted the election campaign, they were together and worked well. We have Chinese voting for PAS, Malays voting for DAP. The people have spoken. They said: “Look, we want a cohesive Opposition, so today, so-called contentious issues of the past, like the Islamic State and Hudud have been resolved. It’s neither their (PAS’) manifesto nor their agenda anymore.”
Nades: How did you manage to get PAS to drop the Islamic State agenda which they have been so vociferous on in previous elections?
Anwar: I’ve convinced them and they also know my position … if you want me to be involved, this is my position. Similarly with Keadilan and DAP. They must be seen to be multiracial and not questioning the position of Bahasa or the Malay position. You can adjust but the paramount interest of justice, catering to those who are poor and marginalised, covering all races must be realised. I think what was achieved last night (a meeting between PKR, DAP and PAS) is a very important beginning. We sat down and discussed for hours and looked at the issues and it was agreed that we must unite and make politically expedient decisions.
Terence: It seems that when you go into elections it is easy to have a common front. But like what happened in Perak shows that once you gain power, it is a different story altogether.
Anwar: What happened in Perak is less problematic (than those) in Perlis and Terengganu (laughs). Because the media is controlled by them; that is why the focus is on Perak and Selangor.
But I don’t deny that there are problems. Even within Keadilan, we have contending candidates, the DAP and PAS also have issues. But in the case of Perak, I understand the problem. PAS had the least number of seats so naturally, for DAP to take a tougher stance is quite understandable.
(But) Why does the media play up this huge issue? We took a position that was quite tough too – we support the MB; we support the administration but we refused to participate in the administration unless the spirit of cooperation is there.
I have enough problems in Penang with having eight non-Malays and two Malays. To have a similar arrangement in Perak would not be wise. It does not mean the Opposition is cracking up and to be fair to DAP, they made adjustments. And I have to record my appreciation.
That’s in the past, now contrary to popular perception that the collaboration is merely prior to elections or prior to forming a government … as of last night (March 18), we have now entered into this new arrangement. It will be a much more cohesive force as it will not be like the BN or PAS or DAP… here is the agenda, about constitutional guarantees, what about the Malaysian Economic Agenda, basic tolerance and the perceived dominance of one race against the others.
Terence: You needed this new resolution because you were ill-prepared for the aftermath of the elections where Barisan Rakyat took five states and Kuala Lumpur? You never expected the results.
Anwar: I was very confident that we will take over the whole government. We crossed the one-third mark a long time ago.
Nades: Reading your comments in a Singapore interview, we said maybe Anwar is overconfident? Anwar is sounding cocky that he can form the government.
Anwar: The interview in Singapore was given after they cancelled the indelible ink and the reason they cancelled the ink was because we were edging towards that (winning the election). We had passed 48% of the popular vote. Edging about 2% a day of the shift; and they knew that. That’s why they cancelled the indelible ink. Which means they had 3-4% votes to cheat. So imagine if they had used the ink? And the postal votes? We would have won easily.
Nades: Should the postal votes be abolished as we are not at war or in emergency. It was (mostly) meant for our servicemen in the jungles during the Emergency and the war against the communists.
Anwar: No. Postal voting can be conducted in a transparent and fair manner. These people … they virtually have robbed the people of their votes.
Like in Setiawangsa (which was won by Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique) … we won. Then came 14,000 postal votes.
Terence: We cannot prove this but is there any truth that in Lembah Pantai, where your daughter Nurul Izzah was contesting (and won against Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil), there were similar attempts?
Anwar: Yes. But there was not enough to go around. In Teluk Kemang 7,000 postal votes were brought in, still our guys managed to win.
Which means the number supporting us is big. That’s why I said, we will win if we get 55%. Even during the campaign I said you want to win with 50%, forget it!
Nades: How are you going to put your economic plan into action while dealing with the sensitive topic of the NEP?
Anwar: I drafted the MEA (Malaysian Economic Agenda) a year ago and gave a detailed explanation to civil servants about what we have planned for the poor and marginalised Malays, Chinese and Indians. We should start with regaining our competitiveness which we have lost, and attract more foreign direct investment. We have to build the economy upwards. With that in mind, then we can talk about distributive justice and equity.
Terence: It seems that only Umno is opposing the MEA while the other BN component parties are keeping mum.
Anwar: You see, even in Umno there is disconnect between the thinking of the leaders and the grassroots.
I will be meeting division leaders to explain this. I was portrayed negatively by Utusan Malaysia. They were demonising us, saying that we are traitors to the Malays.
That’s interesting. “I am a traitor to the Malays”. I have not taken one share, no taxi permit, no contract in the name of bumiputra and all those so-called champions of Malays have taken hundreds of taxi permits, APs and contracts by the hundreds of millions of ringgit.
So I said don’t enter into this (argument) otherwise I will smash them hard. Don’t use the racial card. If you say you are concerned about the NEP, it’s okay we can argue, we can discuss this but don’t start condemning us. I’ve appealed to them to stop this.
Reviewing the NEP is not just (DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister) Lim Guan Eng’s view; of course in my mind we should craft the words properly.
Coming from a Chinese they would immediately play the racial card.
It is unfair to Guan Eng, although I would have advised him not to touch on the NEP, but it was unfair to him because his words were taken out of context. He did say it was for the poor of all races.
Nades: Closer to Selangor, what changes can we expect from the new government?
Anwar: Firstly, it’s governance. There was so much of wastage, corruption, leakages and alienation of land. According to the reports I have, hundreds of millions of ringgit are literally down the drain.
But we have to be careful. We cannot create the impression that we are going to dismantle everything, because we will lose investor confidence. People want stability and continuity. The only major issue we accept is the mentri besar’s recommendation to review the water agreement. The water agreement is virtually scandalous! And it is a burden to consumers.
Nades: What about land alienation to cronies? You cannot take the land back because the deal is done.
Anwar: There are many ways to deal with this. If the land is given, we can go through the plans; we want to know why this is done in such a way.
Terence: But you are not going on a witchhunt, are you?
Anwar: I think it will be a problem for us, because it is endless. Then we will spend the next two years just doing this instead of running the states that we won. Immediately our plans are to move on by ensuring a vibrant economy. Drawing foreign investment, but problems affecting the poor are top on our list.
Yesterday we went to Kampung Jawa (in Klang) to visit the Malay and Indian squatters. A contention was the demolished temple. So I told (Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul) Khalid (Ibrahim), you better deal with this immediately. In two weeks get it done; give them their land and pay compensation to rebuild their temple. Of course they will demand for this and that. That’s normal, but we draw the line.
Then it’s their housing status. Khalid was concerned with Ijok where some areas have no water supply. It cost just RM200,000 to supply the water, so Khalid has announced that water will be supplied. These things must happen whether it’s a Malay area, Chinese area or Indian area, it must happen. There are huge problems in Selangor and he (former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo) has the audacity to talk about governance!
Nades: What are your plans after April 13 when you are eligible to contest for political office? Your wife is Opposition Leader - a position which is being warmed for you.
Anwar: Yes, but it is still early. Parliament only convenes in May. We still have time. I have to travel overseas for some engagements and I have to resign from my positions (in several foreign think tanks and academic boards) … meetings and lectures in Harvard and at Kennedy School … we’ll see. But now the focus is on having a cohesive Opposition and make sure the state governments are on track.
Terence: Are you ready to take over?
Anwar: This is for the MPs and the people to decide. We just want to make sure that the states are running well, and that we are prepared for Parliament. We have time to come to that.
Terence: If you asked me two weeks ago, one would dismiss Anwar Ibrahim being prime minister. But today, there is such likelihood, with the dawn of the two-party system.
Anwar: Yes, well, like I said, we actually won the election.
Terence: While Anwar can become PM, there seems to be a dearth of individuals who would be able to govern and this brings me to the formation of the shadow cabinet.
Anwar: Yes, when all these fellows took over … (former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) … they had no administrative experience. Myself too … so was the first generation of civil servants. As long as we have a clear programme and agenda, and more importantly here and now, clearer ground rules we will be all right. No way are we going to tolerate alienation of land to your son, daughter, son-in-law. No way! I think we have to work as a team.
As far as qualified people are concerned, you look at (DAP stalwart Lim) Kit Siang, he is still there. We were discussing some election laws last night and he brought up some laws which I don’t remember. (laughs) He says, “Anwar you were finance minister, how can you not know this?”
I said: “Yalah Kit, I don’t remember.” Then he reminds me.
I think he is certainly qualified to serve. You have (PAS president) Hadi (Awang) who has four years experience of being mentri besar of Terengganu … and many others.
Nades: Come to think of it, you have some experts on your side like Charles Santiago on water and R. Sivarasa on human rights.
Anwar:There you are! Some of them of course are not as well-known as I am but Siva is a Rhodes scholar … very articulate. Syed Husin Ali is one of the more renowned scholars.
Nades: How did you manage 13 days of campaigning with a bad back?
It was not easy. We were using my Dad’s car a Mercedes since it was bigger. I had to duduk bersila like in yoga. (laughs)
Also, we had (PKR deputy president) Dr Syed Husin Ali. He didn’t want to stand in this election, but he was here manning the fort, while I was travelling all over the country. I was wondering who would be doing this as (former PKR Youth chief) Ezam (Mohd Noor) is gone, Nik Nazmi (Nik Ahmad) who won the Seri Setia state seat in Selangor ) is gone; (Sim) Tze Tzin (who won the Pantai Jerejak state seat in Penang) is gone … then I realised I was handicapped. My staff was making all the arrangements.
Terence: Do you think the media has been fair with the new state governments under Barisan Rakyat?
Anwar: They have not been fair to them. What with these loaded questions and their own agenda. Give them a chance to do something like how I suggested to Guan Eng that he should go to the Malay villages, no one highlighted it when he went to Tanjung Tokong.
That’s why I was very rough with the Utusan guy. It’s not their fault though, I know that when they start pushing, they have their instructions but repercussions can be great.
Terence: Can we touch a little on some of the media organisations that used to blacklist you but now want to put you on Page One? Also associates who once had no time for you, but now are queuing up to see you?
Anwar: (Laughs) I have no malice. You know, sometimes I laugh at these people. This is the quality of people and they think they are great.
I have no personal agenda. They have. Some of them are scared. Dead scared! They came to see me saying we are sorry, but were forced to do this and do that. In a way it is good - not that it is fair for them to put me in prison and treat me that way … but it is a good experience. And if people make mistakes and are remorseful, we should give them a chance. I always believe that.
Nades: But what was your problem with (former PKR vice president) Chandra Muzaffar? He came out very scathing against you.
Anwar: I was in prison when he first decided to attack and smash me to pieces prior to the 2004 elections. He had problems within the party, initially with the Youth Wing … Ezam, later (former PKR vice-president) Marina Yusof. I was still backing him but he came out very strong against me. I still wonder why.
Terence: After Chandra was released from the ISA, he seemed to be more pro-establishment.
Anwar: Well, he went through a lot. I can’t deny that and I do appreciate his initial contributions to Keadilan. I did not want to pursue litigation (over his statements against Anwar during the election), but my lawyers advised me (to proceed) and the letter (of demand) was already sent.
Terence: Do you want to retort against Chandra’s allegations about the words you uttered when you visited the Hindu temple in Penang? (Background: In March 27, 1998, a group of Muslims marched from the Kampung Rawa mosque to the nearby Sri Raja Raja Madurai Veeran temple, angered by the loud ringing of the temple’s prayer bells. The resulting clash between 500 Muslims and Hindus resulted in several people being injured. The dispute was settled when the state government provided an alternative site for the temple.)
Anwar: These accusations are excessive. Did he ask me what happened at the mosque? I was DPM at that time and nobody wanted to go down there. I went to the mosque and then the temple.
(Then) IGP (Inspector General of Police Tan Sri) Rahim Noor called up the Penang CPO (chief police officer) and told him: “Tell Anwar not to go down to the mosque as the police cannot guarantee his safety.”
(Incidentally it was Rahim Noor who gave Anwar his black eye that has since become the PKR symbol).
I told the CPO: “You call back the IGP and tell him, I cannot be a Penang leader if I can’t settle this problem.”
Nobody wanted to go! Koh Tsu Koon, Shariff Omar, all the excos semua tak nak pergi! So I went.
You know the problem? I told the mosque people, azan five times a day is ok but there were some announcements, touching on Melayu and Islam, some hints … so I told them: “Lima kali. Lebih daripada itu, I have a problem. I kena rampas you punya mike.” (Five times. Anything more, I will have to seize your microphone.)
So they said: “Jangan Datuk.” So I said: “You know I’m with you, don’t overdo it.”
I also told Koh Tsu Koon to give them the land for the (relocation of the) temple.
So, I told the (Muslim) people, you pukul budak Hindu umur 12 tahun, (hit a 12-year-old Hindu boy) is not right. So they settled and shook hands. Done.
I only brought my plainclothes guards. Even the police were not allowed in the temple because people were already angry as they tear-gased the neighbourhood.
I said the same thing to the temple committee: “I know your prayer times.” I was studying in Malay College Kuala Kangsar where there was a temple next door.
You don’t have to look at your watch. Teng! Teng! Teng! Teng! 6am. Teng! Teng! Teng! Teng! 6pm.
So I told them don’t provoke because during the Muslim prayer times they were ringing the bells even louder.
So I told them that I warned the mosque committee that I will seize the microphone. So, to the temple committee, I said if you do the same thing, I will also rampas your bells.
And what did Chandra say? That I threatened to silence all bells in Hindu temples across the nation?! It’s not true. Of course I had to sound very tough also. How do you solve the problem when they are fighting like that?
It is totally wrong what they are trying to portray me as. I am very indebted to the Indian community. They have helped me a lot. You see the Bukit Selambau fellow (Independent candidate V. Arumugan)? He said he will join PKR if I come there and hold his hand. So I did. And he won, and now he has joined Keadilan!
Terence: What is your take on the new cabinet? Some say that it is very Umno-centric.
Anwar: Ya! First I can see that there are attempts to respond to the electorate but overall it is a disappointing line-up. It is not catered for the expectations of people. There seem to be some shift in policies but then some characters tainted with corruption continue to be in office… well, these are exciting times!
QUOTES
“We have Chinese voting for PAS, Malays voting for DAP. The people have spoken. They said look, we want a cohesive Opposition, so today, so-called contentious issues of the past, like the Islamic State and Hudud have been resolved.”
“I don’t deny that there are problems. Even within Keadilan, we have contending candidates, the DAP and PAS also have issues. But in the case of Perak, I understand the problem. PAS had the least number of seats so naturally, for DAP to take a tougher stance is quite understandable.”
“I was very confident that we will take over the whole government. We crossed the one-third mark a long time ago.”
“We had passed 48% of the popular vote. Edging about 2% a day of the shift; and they knew that. That’s why they cancelled the indelible ink.”
“That’s interesting. ‘I am a traitor to the Malays’. I have not taken one share, no taxi permit, no contract in the name of bumiputra and all those so-called champions of Malays have taken hundreds of taxi permits, APs and contracts by the hundreds of millions of ringgit.”
“Coming from a Chinese they would immediately play the racial card. It is unfair to Guan Eng, although I would have advised him not to touch on the NEP, but it was unfair to him because his words were taken out of context.”
“As long as we have a clear programme and agenda, and more importantly here and now, clearer ground rules we will be alright. No way are we going to tolerate alienation of land to your son, daughter, son-in-law. No way!”
“I warned the mosque committee that I will seize the microphone. So, to the temple committee, I said if you do the same thing, I will also rampas your bells.” - THE SUN
Betul tu…si WIRAMAHATHIR ni memang bacul anjing pariah bla bla bla…hanya berani menyalak buat provok, ajak berdebat melalui keyboard komputer saja. Nak tengok berapa berani dia naik atas pentas, berdiri belakang rostrum, bercakap melalui mic didepan puluhan ribuan khalayak ramai dan seterusnya berdebat dgn DSAI…..berpeluh dia beb…Silap2 hancoq lumat kena pijak dek org ramai kat situ jugak….!!!!
Baik kita jangan layan org gila mcm WIRAMAHATHIR ni. Org gila mcm ni klu kita layan nanti kita pun ikut sama gila.
NO,NO,NO,NO,NO….
If u want fame, go play in the circus Of BN. Our DSAI is world famous, & you “monkey” know it and that is why you want to try to get near by asking for a debate. Go to Mamaktir’s house, wash his toilet and there may be a slight chance that your face will be pictured in the Star & Utusan. Good luck, sick fella.

I hope to contribute to Datuk for a new dawn for Malaysia. Datuk, take care and I wish all the best to you. May God bless Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his effot to save Malaysia. Datuk Seri, the PM-to-be, have a nice Day!
I think DSAI has got no time for someone like WiraMahathir ni. We should also not entertain someone who talked like he never attended a day of school. I think, even Dr Mahathir will not say something as bad as this to DSAI.
DSAI is a global, universal leader. A bridge between Islam and the West, recognized by leaders around the world, by friends and enemies (although quietly) alike.
Usahlah engkau mencemarkan nama Mahathir. Sesungguhnya dia tetap wira di hati kami.
Mu lebih sesuai pakai nama Wira Beruk…..
adik kepada si KJ beruk
hehehe
Kawan Kawan Sekalian
Tak payah suruh dia berdebat dgn DSAI…berdebat dengan SAMI VELLU pun dia belum tentu menang….hahaha alamatnya nanti tergagap gagapkah dia mcm ZAM ditemuramah AL JAZEERA
Saudara Anwar, This is the comment I posted in Malaysia Today website in response to an article by Malaysian Insider about the Interview you had with Sun as well as alleged recent visits by Tauke Judi Tan. I am reposting this comment here with the view that it will reach you.
Malaysian Insider : “As a sign of times, he (Anwar) has also been visited by corporate figures such as Berjaya’s Tan Sri Vincent Tan and former editors who were part of the Mahathir media machine which tore Anwar to shreds during his court trials for corruption and sodomy”
Anwar’s response…”And if people make mistakes and are remorseful, we should give them a chance. I always believe that.’’
Saudara Anwar! I am a reformasi supporter ever since you were dismissed by means of trumped up charges and we despised these people (the likes of Tauke Judi Tan, Ananda K, the main stream media)as they were running a cruel campaign against you.
ASTRO was then running a logo which I can’t remember exactly but meant something like “why you people wasting time in the street (the reformasi supporters) but better stay back and enjoy the shows in ASTRO”.
Please Saudara Anwar…Do not forget these people and do not be fooled into becoming friends with these people again. As you rightly said, the quality of these people is very low and only in Malaysia, they can be successful in their business because of absolute monopoly and Government protectionism given to them. (See, Astro when it goes to India and Indonesia, they make huge losses because these cowards are not used to competition but only day light robbery of Malaysian customers who have no alternative)
Saudara Anwar, please please do not allow these snakes to come near you as the only good protection you have is the unseen faces of common folks in Malaysia.
Wira Mahazir has no sense at all when he criticices DSAI. YAB DSAI is a democratic leader that accepets criticisms as long as they are logical. Wira Mahazir only talks crap, he has no proof or evidence in his senselss allegations aganist Anwar. He has no sense of humour either. But Anwar is a liberal leader. If not, Wira Mahazir’s filthy and baseless comments would not be in this site. So Wira Mahazir will eat his own words(shit) when YAB DSAI becomes the next Prime Minister in days to come. Hidup Anwar, Hidup Malaysia!Malaysia is lucky to have Anwar. Salute DSAI. God bless DSAI and his family!
dato seri,
Damn that asshole Mahazir for lashing out at DSAI. He said DSAI would never be PM but in reality, it goes exactly opposite. Come on, the people choose, ok? Not you Mahazir known as a ’strongman’. Mahazir’s reputation is tarnished completely long time ago. Trust me, he will pay for his sins not long from now cause everyone has to answer to God. In the meanwhile, YAB DSAI, please keep up your good work, do not be affected by the comments by this asshole. DSAI is saving Malaysia unlike someone who screwed up this country for more than 22 years. DSAI, God bless you!
Assalamualaikum Dato’ Seri,
Insya-Allah, sampai ketikanya kejayaan sedang menanti Dato’ Seri suatu hari nanti.
saya masih berharap… dato seri dapat memaafkan dr mahathir if dah jadi PM nanti…

Apa bezanya ayam KFC kalau ditukar dgn kotak ayam Mc Donald? Mesti rasanya masih lagi rasa ayam KFC kan? Sekadar bidalan mudah untuk dikaitkan dgn apa bezanya MP Pakatan Rakyat jika dulunya dari BN???
Kita sedar bahawa ia mungkin mampu mengubah pentadbiran negara tetapi percayaLAH setiap perkara yang mengikut jalan pintas pasti berakhir dengan kemusnahan. Contoh paling mudah, saudara Khairy kita yg nak cepat NAIK,,,sehingga semua matlamat menghalalkan cara, jadi apa padahnya? SATU KAPAL (UMNO) tenggelam dibuatnya.
Dr Richard Riot (MP)- mengapa baru sekarang nak bising…sebelum ne tak pernah nak bising malah kempen kutuk pembangkang adalah…sebabnya SATU-sebab tak puas hati tak masuk senarai kabinet..=GILA KUASA…
Joseph Entulu (MP)- satu keluarga memonopoli ladang kelapa sawit…dalam masa yg sama menindas rakyat dgn mmepergunakan tenaga dan tanah peribumi utk kepentingan ladang sawit sendiri? Rumah setiausaha politiknya pun mengalahkan rumah “bekas†exco Selangor yg akan diLELONG….so faham faham sajala..berapa sangat la gaji kalau jadi Setiausaha sulit YB (MP)
Org Dayak tetap tak maju, yg maju cuma poket YB…dialah orang Dayak yang hancurkan parti dayak terbesar PBDS..sebab nak jadi Presiden..=GILA KUASA
Anak taib Mahmud (CM Sarawak) yang baru dilantik jadi timbalan menteri pelancongan, SULAIMAN (MP)- pernah menerajui RHB bank dan CMS (Cahya Mata Sarawak aka Chief Minister Sarawak)..company bapaknya yg memonopoli perniagaan di Sarawak. Nyaris bangkrap kedua dua company tu dibawah jagaan nya? Sekarang bapa dia pun tak sanggup suruh dia hancurkan famili bisnez bapanya…so sekarang MP? Boleh percayakah?
Alfred JABU (DUN)-Timbalan CM (IBAN) huuuuuhhh KAYA giler dgn bisnes sawit nya….kalau bisnez telus tak apa…tu tindas rakyat…nak jumpa YB ne? perlu buat appointment setaun lebih awal la agaknya, kalau tak jgn harap nak lepas SECURITY rumahnya…
Isinya sama….hancusss…
Jangan kerana matlamat jangka pendek….sanggup gadai perjuangan rakyat..
I found your blog via Google while searching for paramount power boat and your post regarding cara DSAI dalam theSun at Anwar Ibrahim looks very interesting to me. I just wanted to tell you that your site is really awesome and is of a fantastic quality. The content is great and I will be returning.
Yes Datuk Seri for PM!
It is high time we have a PM that truly care for all Malaysians.
Papers can spin but people can think
That’s why BN sinks and BR wins.
Kesabaran parti2 komponen BR amat mengkagumkan.
A good day to Dato’ Seri,
From the above interview, I’ve notice that The Sun are still trying to play a “neutral role” in the mainstream media but not convincing enough to show that they are free from the UMNO influence, not at this point in time.
Kita bukan ahli politik,
Kita hanya rakyat biasa,
Kita bukan jenis yang tak ambil kisah,
Kita cuma tiada upaya untuk mengubah,
Kita menjunjung pemimpin mulia,
Kita tolak pemimpin rasuah,
Kita cuba sedaya upaya,
Kita tetap akan kalah,
Kita kalah bukan kerana tiada usaha,
Kita kalah kerana rakyat sendiri memuliakan rasuah,
Kita jangan mudah menyerah kalah,
Kita terus berjuang sehingga ke akhir hayat kita,
Kita nampak rakyat terima rasuah,
Kita jangan lupa dirikan solat,
Terima kasih Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, sungguhpun saya tak mengenali Datuk Seri,
Teruskan perjuangan Datuk Seri,
sesungguhnya menegakkan kebenaran memang begitu rencamnya,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Islam,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Diri Mereka,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Ahli Keluarga,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Sahabat Handai,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Penyokong-Penyokong,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan Kroni-kroni mereka,
Mereka “menghalalkan” rasuah “demi” mempertahankan rakyat Malaysia,
Amin

HI !… Sejak bila Tan Sri Vinsent Tan Sri berpaling arah setahu kita THE SUN milik TVT atau dia tahu DSAI ada sinar bakal jadi PM dia mula ubah haluan dari BN ke BR apa nak jadi dengan keroni UMNO ni mereka dah berpaling tadah saya rasa lebih ramai lagi keroni UMNO akan berpaling tadah.hidup BR nanpaknya BN dan UMNO akan jadi Kera Sumbang bila Ananda Krishnan pun berpaling tadah maka BN dan UMNO pasti terjun bangunan dari menara PWTC. Tq TVT.
Fight to the end! :) Lawan tetap Lawan…
Salam DSAI..
Mula2 terdetik gak hati nie bila Chandra cakap pasal loceng dikuil..
Dengan penerangan DSAI kat the Sun di atas…
Saya dah faham..
Tahniah kerana dapat menyelesaikan masalah tersebut…
Kesimpulan..yang boleh digunakan..
Tegas menyatakan pendirian…
assalamualaikum ,
Bapa saya seorang yang sangat fanatik dengan Anwar Ibrahim semenjak dari Abim days to Umno days to Reformasi days and after jailbreak up until election 2008 .
Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullah,
Kalau boleh terjemahkan Wawancara DSAI tu ke Bahasa Melayu, maaf ya sekolah tak tinggi.
Dato Seri,Bodohwi is being TRODDEN,BN is going to CRUMBLE.DOOMSDAY is counting.
Ku Li has no Credibility nor he is a Charismatic leader,Najis is full of SHIT and the
rest are CROOKS and THUGS!!!
It’s you who can take Malaysia to soar at greater HEIGHT.
I can’t wait and drooling to see you as our next Prime Minister.
Dear Sir & Ma’am,
27.03.08
Assalamu Alaikum,
I was shocked to see the interview by YAB.
Wassalam.

Dear Well Wisher,
This is the kind of true support our beloved BR needs in these critical times.
HARAP KISAH PERJUANGAN DSAI DAPAT DIFILEMKAN!! UNTUK TATAPAN RAKYAT MALAYSIA AKAN DATANG!….bagaimana susahnya memperjuangkan nasib rakyat yg ditindas…
SAPA YG BERANI BUAT FILEM NI?……SIVAJI?
ALLAHHUAKBAR!!!
REFORMASI!!!
Dato’ Seri,
Statements of a statesman.
Nak berdebat, silakan..!!!

This is our TRUE Leader.
Betul tu…si WIRAMAHATHIR ni memang bacul anjing pariah bla bla bla…hanya berani menyalak buat provok, ajak berdebat melalui keyboard komputer saja. Si Monyet Wira Mamaktir,
If u want fame, go play in the circus Of BN.

Datuk Seri, the PM-to-be, have a nice Day!
wiramahadir,
I think DSAI has got no time for someone like WiraMahathir ni.
Malaysia desperately needs Anwar.
WiraMahathir
Usahlah engkau mencemarkan nama Mahathir. Sesungguhnya dia tetap wira di hati kami.
Mu lebih sesuai pakai nama Wira Beruk…..
adik kepada si KJ beruk
hehehe
Kawan Kawan Sekalian
Tak payah suruh dia berdebat dgn DSAI…berdebat dengan SAMI VELLU pun dia belum tentu menang….hahaha alamatnya nanti tergagap gagapkah dia mcm ZAM ditemuramah AL JAZEERA
Balik tidurlah….nanti Pak Lah temankan..hehe
Reformasi!!!
Assalamualaikum Dato’ Seri,
Insya-Allah, sampai ketikanya kejayaan sedang menanti Dato’ Seri suatu hari nanti.
saya masih berharap… dato seri dapat memaafkan dr mahathir if dah jadi PM nanti…
berharap dgn Harapan Baru
Assalamualaikum Dato’ Sri…

Apa bezanya ayam KFC kalau ditukar dgn kotak ayam Mc Donald? Mesti rasanya masih lagi rasa ayam KFC kan? Sekadar bidalan mudah untuk dikaitkan dgn apa bezanya MP Pakatan Rakyat jika dulunya dari BN???
Kita sedar bahawa ia mungkin mampu mengubah pentadbiran negara tetapi percayaLAH setiap perkara yang mengikut jalan pintas pasti berakhir dengan kemusnahan. Contoh paling mudah, saudara Khairy kita yg nak cepat NAIK,,,sehingga semua matlamat menghalalkan cara, jadi apa padahnya? SATU KAPAL (UMNO) tenggelam dibuatnya.
Dr Richard Riot (MP)- mengapa baru sekarang nak bising…sebelum ne tak pernah nak bising malah kempen kutuk pembangkang adalah…sebabnya SATU-sebab tak puas hati tak masuk senarai kabinet..=GILA KUASA…
Joseph Entulu (MP)- satu keluarga memonopoli ladang kelapa sawit…dalam masa yg sama menindas rakyat dgn mmepergunakan tenaga dan tanah peribumi utk kepentingan ladang sawit sendiri? Rumah setiausaha politiknya pun mengalahkan rumah “bekas†exco Selangor yg akan diLELONG….so faham faham sajala..berapa sangat la gaji kalau jadi Setiausaha sulit YB (MP)
Org Dayak tetap tak maju, yg maju cuma poket YB…dialah orang Dayak yang hancurkan parti dayak terbesar PBDS..sebab nak jadi Presiden..=GILA KUASA
Anak taib Mahmud (CM Sarawak) yang baru dilantik jadi timbalan menteri pelancongan, SULAIMAN (MP)- pernah menerajui RHB bank dan CMS (Cahya Mata Sarawak aka Chief Minister Sarawak)..company bapaknya yg memonopoli perniagaan di Sarawak. Nyaris bangkrap kedua dua company tu dibawah jagaan nya? Sekarang bapa dia pun tak sanggup suruh dia hancurkan famili bisnez bapanya…so sekarang MP? Boleh percayakah?
Alfred JABU (DUN)-Timbalan CM (IBAN) huuuuuhhh KAYA giler dgn bisnes sawit nya….kalau bisnez telus tak apa…tu tindas rakyat…nak jumpa YB ne? perlu buat appointment setaun lebih awal la agaknya, kalau tak jgn harap nak lepas SECURITY rumahnya…
Isinya sama….hancusss…
Jangan kerana matlamat jangka pendek….sanggup gadai perjuangan rakyat..
Salam Reformasi….Takbir…Makkal Sakhti…Agi Idup AGi Ngelaban!
Salam perjuangan..
I found your blog via Google while searching for paramount power boat and your post regarding cara DSAI dalam theSun at Anwar Ibrahim looks very interesting to me. I just wanted to tell you that your site is really awesome and is of a fantastic quality. The content is great and I will be returning.
