UMNO seringkali menghebahkan bahawa krisis ekonomi 97~98 di malaysia disebabkan kegagalan saudara selaku Menteri Kewangan dalam urus tadbir Kewangan Negara, sehinggakan Kadar Faedah mencecah 12% lebih dan banyak syarikat tutup kedai, pengguna menanggung beban kewangan yang tinggi… sebenarnya apa yang berlaku pada ketika itu ? saya masihn menuntut pada ketika krisis berlaku dan kurang beri perhatian. atau ada sesiapa boleh

Di tahun 1998 Soros dikatakan penyangak dan dipersalahkan. Umno malah ISIS dan sarjana ekonomi pun memalukan gendang yang sama. Pada tahun 2006 Dr M mengesahkan bahawa Soros tidak terlibat. Ini hanya satu dari babak penipuan.

Around that time, the world financial system semi-crashed with too much speculative betting on hedge funds - eg Long Term Credit Management which involved almost all the global investment banks such that the US Federal Reserve had to bail them out. (I know cos I wrote a paper on this.)
As our economy is very much export based and open to ‘hot money’ (short term foreign direct investment via the stock market), the global economic environment had a huge impact on our small economy, in global terms. Hence the adjustments in interest rates.
If you would like to know more about the serious problems we faced, best to google “Mahathir Daim” for their exploits - eg HICOM bailout, banking industry consolidation, privatisation and renationalisation at above mkt price, and the STRUCTURAL ASPECTS of our financial and corporate governance.
The thing about the economy is, ONE person can’t bring it down in a few years but over a period of time like 10 years, that is possible.
Also, if an economy is build on shaky foundations, it will be more susceptible to the ‘gelombang2 ekonomi dunia’.
I am not too sure exactly what Datuk Seri’s role is as there is just too much smoke in the media at that time but it would be a Herculean task for the public to know what really happened.
In economics, there is a term called ‘market correction’. In my view, if we let the market had its way at that time, we would have a better and stronger economy now.
Market corrections are usually painful but weeds out the bad so that the good can thrive.
Read more on economics in general to better grasp these ideas, and don’t depend so much on what the government PR mill churns out. To them, 1+1=3 :D Get it?

benarkah rantau asia tenggara dijangka akan dilanda kegawatan ekonomi sekitar 2007/2008 seperti mana yg pernah berlaku 10 tahun lalu?
pada pandangan datuk seri, apakah langkah kerajaan thailand mewujudkan “capital control” seakan-akan membenarkan spekulasi ini? sejauh manakah kesannya kepada malaysia seandainya krisis ekonomi benar-benar berlaku?apakah kerajaan kita telah bersiap sedia menghadapinya?
Kemelesetan ekonomi?Impak yang amat besar pada orang melayu khususnya?Ada cara nak tambah income tak?:)
